So let me get this straight, almost a year of pandemic and nothing from TRI. Crickets. No cicadas.... And now Bobby turns on the spaceship? And as a celebration for those who survived the year we get billed by TRI for 20$? Nice try Weir. How about rewarding anyone who makes it through the whole stream with a 20$ gift card.

I was going to blow off going to the Wolf Brothers show when they came to town, in fear that it would suck. Day of the show I grabbed a couple of cheap tickets and me and a buddy went. Glad I did, one of the better Bobby shows I have ever seen. Bobby as the sole guitarist just was not going to do it in my head, and boy was I wrong, very interesting night of music

Glad I did, one of the better
Glad I did, one of the better Bobby shows I have ever seen. Bobby as the sole guitarist just was not going to do it in my head, and boy was I wrong, very interesting night of music<<<
The one show I saw was in ABQ about two years ago, and it also happened to be a day Bobby was on. Not sure I could take a steady diet of more than a couple shows in a row, but I think it's interesting to see him "fill the space" as the only guitar in a trio. He's able to step outside of his box a bit ... had some cool delay effects and other trick plays that all seemed to mostly work that night. He mixed up the setlist very well with a few cowboy acoustic tunes, so it had a good balance overall. Also got to hear his story about thinking up Saint Circumstance.
I've seen a number online and think it's hit or miss on the whole, but he'll always have at least a couple few good pockets; otherwise, it'd be hard for me to see more than a couple in a row.
Having said all that, I think all bets are off when he invites a guest, let alone Jeff on keys ... just not sure if the evening will be split up into 1/2 trio + 1/2 full band?
Yeah, Q = Quintet, actually hijacked from ratdog.org:

Funny, it seems it's not just
Funny, it seems it's not just the black screen that's up in arms about the $20 charge, I'm seeing outrage all over the Internet.
I don't really get why people are so pushed about a fee for this. Pay or don't, what's to get so riled up about?
I'm not a fan of Wolf Bros. and I won't be buying this stream, but it's funny to me how so many people seem to think everything should be free, especially if the person in charge is worth lots of money. If you like the WB then $20 isn't so much, and if you don't then why do you care? Would you listen anyway if it were free? That seems odd to me.
From what I understand Weir has a staff of people, whether that's 3 or 5 or 10 or what I don't know, but I hear that he's been paying them through all of this business, and so what if after a year of total shut-down the cost of putting out a stream is covered and the musicians and staff working the event get a nice paycheck?
I doubt that Weir or Don Was need the money, and Chementi must have been doing pretty good the past five years or so, but everyone needs to pay their bills.
No spot taken, but I hope the event does real well and everyone involved gets a nice bump.
As for me, I've always been a big, big fan of New Years Eve and to the best of my recollection I haven't been home on that night since 1982, when I didn't get a ticket to the GD with Etta James NYE show.
I'll be home this year, likely alone, and I imagine I'll be reflective and a bit sad.
Not sad enough to listen to a Wolf Bros. show, but I wish them all the best.

I'll be home this year, likely alone, and I imagine I'll be reflective and a bit sad.<<<<
For the first 12 years or so of my snowboarding "career", I would never consider leaving town for a NYE and take a chance of missing out on a powder day when everyone else was hung over. But for the past 15 year or so, I've made a point of traveling to see shows either GD-related in the Bay area or SCI in Broomfield. Last year I was content to chill out at home because I was kind of burnt out, but I even missed our local band's gig because of a small electrical fire at the venue that set off the sprinklers and damaged the place, so it's a bummer to miss out in person yet again!
Yeah, I also saw some people online "demanding" how it should be free because of the pandemic, how hard they have it, etc. ... but I'm with you, $20 isn't really all that much if you really want to watch it, but there's more to be said about trying to spread the wealth to the supporting cast in this production ... who are also likely hurting financially.
If they get their act together with Roku, I'll probably spring for it with Wolf Bros

Hey, thanks Froggy!
Back atcha', and to that kookie husband of yours too.
I miss seeing you two at shows, and I look forward to that happening again sooner than later.
And to be fair, I've never seen the Wolf Bros. live. I've always believed that you can't fully judge a band until you've been in a room with them, so maybe I've missed something, but I haven't been impressed with what I've heard online, and no lead guitar is a bit of a deal-breaker for me. The memories of early Ratdog without a lead guitar left a bruise that still won't heal.
>>>What if Jerry were still alive and he could only "get there" at slower tempos<<<
I never had any problem with Jerry playing slower tempos.
Whenever Jerry Garcia was "getting there" nothing else mattered, and he could take us places at those slow tempos that no one else could.
Dude was good.
