90 hours without power. Ice storm broke the wires. We have a well, so no water either. No internet. Bags of ice in the fridge, but what's left now will have to be thrown away. Hot shower soon! Wood stove kept us from freezing.
I know there are still lots of folks around the country who still don't have power - my heart goes out to them - hope they're back on the grid soon.
Now time to catch up on the zone. Is Joe still president?

What's the temp outside?
What's the temp outside?
Being in the devils business I always get a kick out of 'we had 200lbs of prime meat in our freezer that I want to be paid for!'.....and my response is always 'its 25 degrees outside -- your porch is a freezer and costs nothing, you just watched your meat rot?'
Hope your power comes on soon.

Temp was hovering around 32. Not low enough to keep meat frozen - just enough to freeze people.

A cooler placed outside in 32 degree temp packed with some ice --- it's plentiful -- will hold to freezing temp. Probably not something you are used to but it works great.

Hey, Glad you got your Juice
Hey, Glad you got your Juice back on Surf. My Well also runs off electricity, so no water when the juice goes out.
Nice that you have Wood Stove backup. You can always heat water and cook on those.
With no "Natural Gas" lines running out here, propane runs the Gas range, and that works without electricity.
I keep a couple spare BBQ tanks around for the range, but they will also run a Coleman stove or Heater.

This and about $1,500 to an electrician to hardwire a circuit box and you won't go thru near the discomfort.

We had water stored, so no dehydration, just inconvenience.
My neighbor has a generator, and I can't even sleep through that. Plus, don't have a spare $1500.

We lost power this winter for a few days, hardly skipped a beat. Only ran it 5-6 hrs a day,, as needed for necessities. Enjoyed 'roughing' it the other 18. Yer neighbor needs a talkin to, there's no need to run a gen at night in the winter, shit stays cold or froze. Best $1,500 I ever spent, not only for the obvious reasons, but it also adds about $5-10 thousand on to the resale value of my home. Good luck
