Up to a week without power?

Good luck folks. Stay safe

I don't know what the threat is.

Fire, Slack. PG&E is trying to prevent any wildfires.

The wind is not blowing.

frump hates California. I smell another conspiracy

>The wind is not blowing<

It seems that PG&E is worried.

KQED has the lowdown

We're waiting for an inside slider.

Yeah they’re worried, they have to pay an $11 billion settlement with wildfire insurers for last years fires.

thursday....

they said last night even people in san jose could be w/o power for a week!?

we're going to kill each other...

Welcome to the new California.  Tent cities, raw sewage in the streets, and no electricity.  Civilized.

>>>>Yeah they’re worried, they have to pay an $11 billion settlement with wildfire insurers for last years fires.

This.  Those lawsuits literally bankrupted PG&E and they can't afford another hit as they attempt to restructure.   I rent office space in a building owned by a law firm that exclusively represents insurance companies in wildfire subrogation claims against PG&E and others responsible parties.  The liabilities on the property damage claims alone are massive.

And the biggest burn was started by a garbage truck.  Possibly we should not have trash pick ups on wind event days.

time to invest in solar panels?

Two of the three high schools said they lost power but all three have new solar.

A lot of solar panels are on a "net meter" system that sends excess power out to the grid in exchange for a credit.  Unless you have an expensive shut off and back up battery system, the net meter solar systems shut down whenever the power goes out to prevent damage and utility workers from getting electrocuted.

Solar requires batteries.  Batteries no bueno.

FUCK pg&e!!!!!!!!!

Power just back on after 48 hrs off. Wind never materialized.  Cocksuckers need to update their shit. They own Sacramento though, so they will continue to screw us whenever they want.

I signed the docs for a new solar system on Tuesday. Have been in negotiations for over a month. It is a cadillac system and I am paying way to much for it, but nothing down and my payments will be less than I currently pay pg&e. pg&e  only gets 10.00 per month from me from now until eternity.  I got docs signed just before power went out.   Won't help me next time power goes out because my system does not include batteries and;

At least I will get a tax credit of 30% of total purchase price. With that I can finally get the whole house water filtration system I need so badly. And pay down my visa cards a little.  I am thinking of buying a small generator for just one fridge and a fan and my TV and computer. Maybe a portable light. Eventually I would love to get a 20K Generac propane system but that is too costly for near future.

I was told we were still maybe 5 yrs away from having viable battery backup systems that are affordable.

With these items(Generac and batteries), I could tell pg&e to fuck off permanently and forever. Gotta have goals, right?

This is crazy

Well, that was pretty stupid.

glad it didn’t last longer than it did.

feel really bad for anyone medically or financially inconvenienced by this shit show.

way to go solar, Mark!

fuck pg&e indeed

Wouldn't it be better if about 1/2 of the East Bay towns burned to the ground? Starting over might be best.

>>>>Wouldn't it be better if about 1/2 of the East Bay towns burned to the ground? Starting over might be best.

I don't know how that helps. We're not overcrowded. We have space.

so their shit is so fucked up and prone to danger that rather than fixing it, they just shut it off?

maybe private for profit companies have no business maintaining critical infrastructure?

Novato dodges the power outage bullet.  hope the rest of the Bay area is up and running soon.

best to the So Cal crew.  looks pretty nasty in LA

OMG beautiful calif in flames ! Looks like hell on earth !

Vibin' hard for all'a ya and your pets.  Prayin' you find safe shelter

"frump hates California. I smell another conspiracy"

Yeah, because those Nazi California officials are all eager to do his bidding.

My socialist power in Sacramento works just fine.

...

The PGE "inspection" helicopter just went over my house, at abou 100 feet or less. They are saying maybe we'll have power by 6 pm.

This is day three, and it's been perfect weather all three days with barely a breeze here on the Marin coast.

Definitely frustrating.

And sorry for everyone down south in that fire. I'm glad I had decided not to go to the Irvine Dylan show.

We would have been going down 5, which sounds like it will be a Clusterfuck.

Best to all of you down there.

And a judge has allowed PG&E to pass of expenses of bankruptcy to customers.

All sounds a little familiar to Grey Davis and his rolling blackouts.  Remember what happened to him?

>>pass of expenses of bankruptcy to customers.<<

corporate socialism.

if its good for them, why not us?
