Brilliant drummer & original Tower of Power member David Garibaldi, along with bass player Marc Van Wageningen are hit by a train in front of Yoshi's in Oakland, just before a TOP performance in their home town venue???
I have hung out EXACTLY where they were hit many, many times. How the hell do you get hit by a train THERE?!!!?

They must have been smoking out. But even then, the train rolls by sloooooowly there, in the middle of the street!

This sucks. (It now sounds like both are going to be OK. Hurt, but OK. Still... WTF?)
And on a much less important note, or maybe not, and either way still a double-whammy of bad news, I also just now see that the classic old bar & eatery Lefty O'Doul's on Geary right off Union Square in San Francisco is closing next month.

Pedestrians often
Pedestrians often underestimate the speed and size of trains coming at them.
I wonder if they thought that they were a safe distance from the tracks and got clipped by the width of the train.
