A couple of things to try that might help return it: Restart your computer (or other device), dump cookies (if not all, at least the Viva one), cache. Try those and let us know, which you'll only be able to do if the "Add a Message" box comes back.
Something's not working right for me now too. All the formatting tools have disappeared from the Add a Message box, and then once you click Preview, the tools are gone in the next screen too. Here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing:

judit, I'm making this post on my laptop, which hasn't had Chrome updated, and it seems to be working normally. I'm guessing the problem is with the latest Chrome update, and not with Viva.

ok, looks like things are back to normal for me. i didnt do anything, didnt delete cookies, etc etc, just woke up and its fine now.
i dont use chrome - i use firefox.
and lance, i was able to make the post because i could still see the small text box to make the title of a post, and i could still post it, but the text box to type the body of the post, or to respond to other peoples posts, was missing, so my only way of communicating with the zone at all was via the titles of threads - i couldnt write the main body of my posts or make comments in other threads.
funny thing is judit, i did not even restart my PC - i fell asleep watching lost and my PC had been on all day, from the time i posted this thread until when i woke up in the morning. and both me and mike seem to have been experiencing the similar weirdness within almost the exact same timeframe.
