thanks for the birthday greetings and love to all!

Yesterday after work I attended a virtual art webinar (aka Art Church) with Alex and Allyson Grey and many other members of their Chapel of Sacred Mirrors. They shared some prayers for the universe.. then we all worked on personal art projects together while on Zoom. Next time I'll volunteer to DJ the playlist.  Cool experience at the end of a long work week!    I worked on some sketches.  They are finally hosting a grand opening of their Chapel / art collection on their property in upstate NY in early June.

Then, I walked down to meet my pseudo sis and niece at a cool old pub and meadery.. think Vikings and Game of Thrones... string music jam happened too.

Mead flavors included ginger and hops, elderberry, salal berry and  juniper and sage.  my fav was 1/2 mead, 1/2 cider.

Happy birthday, LLOLLO, and many happy returns.

smileyFreak Freely !! See ya Soon Come !!!

Happy Birthday  LLOLLO!

Happy birthday LLOLLO

It sounds like you had an interesting and exciting birthday. I've been thinking of it since you posted. Celebrating you on and on...

Thanks sweet Judit!   I strive for new experiences every year.

The art church made me smile... to listen to the Greys and to the stories others told, and to the geeky playlist that was in the background while everyone was doing their thing.... was thinking that many of them had been attending since 2020 and how some may have been shy to share their work (like i was as a first-timer).

Let me know if you'd like to attend next month!

Judit, adding these images from the Zoom art church as I thought you might enjoy them.. that is not me sharing the dragon image... if only!  Have you ever met Alex and Allyson?

Nope, haven't met them. It might seem funny to some, but what I enjoyed most about the pictures is seeing that they use antimacassars.

WOWIE!

how fantastically taurean of you to have such a birthday weekend experience !

you never fail to impress me (;

LOVE your artwork

and would love Love LOVE to kidnap peglet and take a road trip to upstate NY

never made it to CoSM and have always regretted it !

Judit, thanks-- I learned a new word with your post, had to look it up:

antimacassar, protective covering thrown over the back of a chair or the head or cushions of a sofa, named after Macassar, a hair-oil in general use in the 19th century. The original antimacassars were made of stiff white crochet-work, but later soft, coloured materials, such as embroidered wools or silks, were used. In the 20th century the use of antimacassars largely died out..... except in Alex and Allyson's living room. ;)

JLP!  Thanks but that isn't my art shown above....not me in the photo, either, ha ha ha.

COSM hasn't been open since they have been in instruction mode... grand opening is June 2, hope you can visit someday and let us know!  If I return for CAP shows, that's when I hope to visit.

LLOLLO, when I had my antique store in the early 70s I spent a lot of time looking at textiles. People were still using antimacassars on the arms of chairs but as the original users died, more often than not their children got rid of them. They were often lace but also often embroidered cotton.
It's a good word.

you hafta admit, she does kinda look like you

maybe a little more googly eyed

which i attributed to the vibe of the place (;

so if those were on the backs of chairs to counter hair oil, wouldn't silk or lace be ruined pretty quickly?

and i used to use the arm end covers whenever they came with furniture

until kids and cats lol do'h

The ones I saw weren't ruined, but sometimes discolored.

I have some special lace and crocheted ones in a box somewhere, I can't remember using them but I bet I did at some point. I haven't had any stuffed furniture in a long time and you need that to put them on.

Hey Meow!  (i bought stickers as gifts recently that say Hey Meow with a dancing cat)
Much more googly-eyed, not a little more ;).  She resembles me on a really bad hair and face day, ha ha.

Way before my time, there were a lot more greasy hair products, it seems.
