Hitchhiked there from Arizona
Sweet, Donster. Hitchhiked there from Arizona in '75.(?) Got to do some labor in the fields and was lucky enough to be there on a Sunday for a morning service in the meadow. Amazing experience.
I left a different than when I arrived.

We ran there after a tragic
We ran there after a tragic still birth at home in NJ on Christmas Day. State of NJ tried and failed (NJ/NY women stood up!) to criminalize home birth and our midwives. Front page of the papers above the fold.
Then we conceived again.
Our 8 y/o at the time jokes that he saw every rest room from NJ to TN on that drive with a mother in her 5th month.....
The Farm and those peeps wrapped their arms around in a warm cocoon. It was perfect.

Being that The Farm grew from Stephen's free lectures at San Francisco State College simply called "Monday Night Class," I wouldn't be surprised if a few older Zoners are familiar.

Cool Nod. were were set to do
Cool Nod. were were set to do a home birth. we used mid-wives that were retiring, we were one of their last clients. found out there were 2 in the oven, twins... however we lived in a tiny cabin about 40 mins to the nearest hospital. we were also off-road, down a hill. they were born during a big storm. anyhooo...we ended up having them in the hospital. however would definitely have had a c-section if it weren't for our mid wives and a really cool Dr.

First, Don, I'm touched
First, Don, I'm touched deeply by your tragic experiences, all of them, following your deep loss.
I went to the Monday Night Classes for awhile, though not at SF State. I thought they were in a building I can't name (don't remember) near the beach.
I have a friend who grew up on the Farm. After years of GD touring followed by 5 years in prison, he decided to move to the area around Summertown and is very happy to be there.

Thank you Judit .... it was a
Thank you Judit .... it was a rough time, but the birth of my son in our cabin at The Farm was magical - the only true religion that I have ever witnessed/experienced.
We still laugh .... there was NO building code in that county in TN. Our wood cabin - just a few nails where absolutely necessary. Mostly held together with lots of duct tape.
Turtle, my wife's 1st child was a c-section. It was her determination to have a natural birth that time (and the fear that the sheriff would be in our driveway during labor ... trying to serve papers on the midwives) that drove us to live in TN for four months.
