Not sure if people remember, Boulder got 17 inches of rain in about 4 days in the fall of 2013.. We had bad flooding almost every where in the city and surrounding neighborhoods. Many homes flooded ours included. Major roads and almost every canyon took a big hit. Bridges to houses were wiped out. People could not get to there homes. People had to be evacuated by helicopter due to no access to roads. Short commutes turned into major commutes due to roads being out.
First year after flood only major roads were fixed. You need to wait for FEMA money to come in and we know how slow the govt is to react. Each year they would fix another set of roads/canyons. This year they finally fixed the canyon with the most almost of damage. It was bad, every 100-200 feet there was damage on this road for 17 miles. It would demolish cars suspension, tires, alignments etc.
It took Bldr cnty about 4 years to get it to a somewhat manageable workload and get most of the roads open again. Do not think this will be a fast recovery is what the lesson I learned from this.
It affected me in many ways, my route out of town south was a slow commute for a year plus. There were repaving HW36 to denver at the same time and stopped going to denver unless I needed to. Most canyons access was either one lane or closed for week/months/years.
Bummer is next big storm could do the same thing again.
Feel sorry for what you will have to endure and you have a lot more people in that state then ours.

Thanks , Zooey. We canceled the Kirk Creek sites and added a 2nd night in Monterrey. The
Campsite called and said they opened the road south but the work in the area would make for slow getting around.
We might go to Cubensis April 1 while we're in Long Beach a few more days.
