1987 spring

Htfd was crazy good....both nights...

32 years ago tonite, as a matter of fact...

Ive told story before, but, first night in htfd was my "jerry is singing to me , GD experience, haha). I was at a wedding for a friend of mine that day, and reception was at Sheraton in downtown htfd...i was offered a free ticket to show, asked a cpl close friends, fellow deadheads, to join me, and nobody wanted to leave wedding etc. I did.

A dear friend of mine had been shot and murdered at a restaurant in Hartford 4 days before (while watching March Madness w fiance') and i wasnt in greatest mood at wedding etc. So, i went to show, and had an absolute blast. I was stone cold sober (i didnt want to drink at reception knowing mood i was in) and i just walked circles around inside confines of civic center and twirled w all the dancers in back hallways etc..pre set two, i found some boomers and imbibed...and, second set, i go inside, this show is just rocking, crowd is soooo loud ...im back of stage, leaning on railings right behind 100s section...and they start playing He s Gone....i lost it...four days of sadness, anger, frustration etc all came out , and i cried like a baby through whole song..i was literally trying to force myself to stop, and i couldnt....

anyway, i think with boomers help, jerry was singing right at me...to me...it was crazy....but, i know leaving, later that night, that it had been healing for me to go to that concert...

Thats it...we all have a jerry song to me story....dont we?? Lol...

Thanks for links , greg

^ and JFK that summer.

Thanks for all of your research and links, Greg.

4/4/87 is a top ten show for me.   Second set was out of this world.

"Philly gets shows in spring and fall in 1987."

And a summer show with Dylan.  I was living on the beach in Lavellette NJ that year and was 90 minutes from Philly, Brendan Byrne, and NYC.  Saw more shows that year than any other, good times.
