2019 Academy Award Nominees

Forums:

Not many surprises and I suspected "the Favourite" and "Roma" would get numerous nods.   Both were great films.

However, isn't "Black Panther" the first superhero film to be nominated for Best Picture?   That was sort of a surprise.

Now i'm kind of hoping there'll be performances of the "best songs" category, would be fun to see this performed!

 Roma was good.

Admin, I bumped this old thread but fly doesn't like that so can you put it back on page 3.

BlacKKKlansman was good.

     * I don't have the exact quote, but I guess the story goes that Gillian was on Grateful Dead tour like a lot of us, sleeping under the stars on the beaches of California...Robert Hunter was quoted as saying something to the effect of "Gillian is doing something that no one else is doing musically."

I am so out of touch.   Never heard of any of those movies.  What is Greenbook about?

I'd never heard of it either.  Apparently, it's about the black jazz pianist Don Shirley and his tours through the Deep South in the Jim Crow era as he is driven by his white chauffeur.

I was wondering why I'd sold a few Don Shirley LPs.  The guy was always too tedious for me, closer to lounge music.
