Anyone Ever Had A Blood Clot in Their Leg ?

Forums:

It's Called Deep Vein Thrombosis

I Have All The Symptoms of One In My Calf in My Right Leg

Seeing a Doctor in the Morning

Hurts Like HELL.

I'm sorry to hear you are in pain.

if it really hurts, maybe going to urgent care now is wiser?

2 aspirin and/or magnesium powder and lots of water couldn't hurt

I had one but didn't know it until it broke up and got all in my lungs, which created a really bad pain in my side.

The 12-year-old ER doctor thought it was a kidney stone and was ready to send me home with Vicodin. Fortunately her supervisor looked at my chart and ordered more tests, which uncovered the "pulmonary embolus" i.e. multiple blood clots in the lung.

They immediately pumped me full of Heparin and admitted me into the hospital for a number of days, until the clots dissolved. It was a very serious situation that almost certainly would have taken me out if I had been sent home.

Further testing and multiple trips to specialists later it was determined that I had likely suffered at least one or two previous clots, for no particular reason, and I've been on Warfarin ever since.

Don't slack on this, and good luck.

As a registered nurse I'm concerned for you Plf. If it is a deep blood clot in your leg your primary doctor will send you to the hospital. They aren't going to treat a DVT in the doctors office.  The fact that you are experiencing severe leg pain sure means you might be right in your diagnosis. Aspirin helps in preventing clots, but does break them up or dissolve them in any way. If you already have a clot only the hospital is going to have the medicine and/or treatments you need. If it is a DVT that clot could break lose at any time and it will end up in your lung as Lance has said.  If that woere to happen it could literally take you home very quickly.  I would seriously think about masking up and going to the ER.   Even if vaccinated definitely mask up. If you don't have an N95 mask I would try and get one. The hospital may give you one. Or I would think they would at least give you a surgical mask; I would double mask with those if no N95 is available. Hoping for the best.

It sounds like it could be a DVT, plf, and if it is, it's a dangerous thing to leave untreated. Dangerous like life-threatening, and we like you too much to have you taken out this early in your life. Do you have someone who can take you to the ER? As thegunkman said, have a good mask like an N95 or even a KN95 or a couple of surgical masks. I worked in medicine for 30-some years and this is something to take seriously. If it's not a DVT, good. Love to you.

Plf....like everyone above said, GO to the ER tonight ( hopefully you are there)...it is very serious and if it were me I would not be waiting till tomorrow <3. I worked in a vascular lab for years where we did studies ( US) for these symptoms of DVT, sending well wishes and recovery out to you.

Lance, that is one scary story !! I am glad you are OK and that supervisor was on the job that nite <3, stay well .

Yes, go to the ER now and have it checked out.  Just being a card in the deck is easily enough to warrant the trip over there.

Yes me too. I live in San Francisco & we drove, 8 hours,  to Joshua Tree last Easter to visit my daughter. Easter Night I was in bed & got what I thought was a Charlie Horse in my right calf. Flexing & extending my foot gave no relief & it hurt all night. the next day, & all the next night. When I got home I called the doctor who said come in. She sent me to ultra-sound where they found a clot from my right ankle to my groin. There was no clots above the groin.

They sent me to the O.R, @ St. Mary's Hospital where I underwent a Balloon Angiogram down my leg from the groin. They were in the Deep Femoral Vein. When they got to my knee the vein collapsed  & they could go no farther. They decided to come up from the ankle to my knee. There was so much clot in the distal part of the vein they could not move on. I am on blood thinners , Xarelto 20mg one tablet per day. If I bump myself I bleed. fortunately my saphenous and popliteal veins are clear.

The leg no longer hurts but my right calf has a circumference 10% bigger than the left. If you push your fingers into my right calf huge dents occur which take 3-5 minutes to resolve. This shows the edema in my leg.

The cardiologist said I may be on blood thinners for life. He also said he was not curing  the problem but merely treating the symptoms.

Good luck, Plf.

Get to the doctor asap. Freddie King died of a leg blood clot.

I'm pretty sure the Texas cannonball officially died of pancreatitis. He also had a blood clot in his leg, and ulcers, and a couple heart attacks, and probably some other lesser, compounding maladies as well.

He also taught us that putting extra celery into your Bloody Marys for years still doesn't make it a complete meal.

get it checked *today*, plf!

Freddie ate mostly complete meals- and a lot more.
