Chicago - local bands

Forums:

Zoners,

Co-hosted a very successful Mother Hips show here in the East Bay yesterday.  Masks, socially distanced, etc.  Kept attendance to 15 people in a large backyard.

A buddy of mine is looking to host a 50th Bday event in the Chicago area for a similar sized, social distanced event.  Anyone know of some good local bands in the Chicago area that might be up for this type of gig?

Figured it never hurts to ask...

Buddy Guy

Terrapin Flyer?

There's another local guy who has a couple different projects.  Super talented guitar player.

WILCO!

what kind of music?

Freddy Jones Band?

Mr. Blotto is always a good time.

Jon Graham...Former Uncle Jon's Band dude

Joe Marcinek is a great player and a super-nice guy who puts together killer lineups.

I didn't realize this was an institution until some very cool people turned me on to it...the quintessential "after hours" Chicago Blues Club, transformational psychedelia!!!!!  People including myself were weeping openly at the beauty of it all, it's an amazing destination.  Go Big!!!!!

I lived in Chicago from 1981-94 and saw all of the best Blues in all of the best clubs. It was common to see a line 100 people deep outside the Kingston Mines and also across the street at B.L.U.E.S on Halsted. It could be the dead of winter on a frozen Tuesday night. The crowd was always there.... Seven days a week you could see the best electric blues up close and packed in tight on the floor. Son Seals and Otis Rush were among my favorites. I was lucky to know Koko Taylor and her band thanks to a day at the Last Fling in Naperville where my band played on a bill with her and with Lonnie Brooks. Good times back then.

Mr Blotto has been playing all summer in Chicago area and they can accommodate. If you need to book them for your 50th please email me and  I can get you in touch with the band. [email protected]

I think Rod and the Tuff Curls might be a little too street festival-ish.
On the other side, I have seen the Chicago Players do a nice version of The Weight and other fun tunes.
