Coming to SF 6/28 and 6/29

Forums:

staying at a place in the Mission, looking for some suggestions for live music, places to see and places to eat/drink.  Any info would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

Is it a Suite in the Mission?

1) Truly Mediterranean - on 16th at Valencia -- Best in town.

2)  Arinell Pizza - on Valencia at 16th -- Slices, best in town

3) Bi-Rite Market - On 18th at Guerrero -- Great place

Enjoy

Staying at the Parker House on Church St.  Also looking for other suggestions anywhere in the city.  Looking at visiting the Japanese Gardens in the Park, Chinatown/Northbeach.

I don't miss community thrift when I'm in the mission.

clarion alley is a given

Tommy's Joynt meat buffet

rasputin records

hippie hill (though Jefferson square is my favorite park)

Of course the obligatory photo in front of 710

Tea Garden is free weds 9-10am...

Thanks, checking recommendations out.  Looks like Rasputin in Haight is permanently closed.  How about dispensaries?  Saw one in the Mission.

4)  Zunni Cafe - On Market at Gough

5)  Chez Maman - Hayes and Gough

Is hamburger Mary's still kickin? Take the ferry to tiburon if you have time, muir woods, steap ravine, Sacred Mt Tamalpais,  and it's sunset!, oops sorry I was more in " the county" when I was A youngster!

Thanks for the suggestions.  Right now plan is to stay in the city 3 days 2 nights.  Then going to Yosemite for 4-5 days.  Solo trip wife and kids at home on East Coast.  Gotta pace myself but I have high hopes.

Thomas didn’t I send you a poster in France last year?  Hope you found a spot for it.

Yosemite advice is to get out of the valley as quickly as possible.

Tenaya Lake is one of the greatest summer swims I know of

Lembert Dome might be the best "easy" hike in the park.

i'd be down for 4 slices of Cheese Pizza

Yeppers , framed and posted, in our hallway even my wife likes it Thanks again , and have a fun trip

I'd put a picture up but neverdid figure out posting pics here!

Good to hear Tom.  I’m in the same boat with posting pictures.  Haven’t tried too hard though.  At any rate, I am shaping up my plans for next Monday-Wednesday.  Figured that once I arrived and got settled in I would spend the evening in the Mission.  Tuesday I was thinking of something like....Take BART to Embarcadero>Ferry to Fisherman’s Wharf>Ferry to Sausalito> Ferry back to Wharf>Greenwich Steps>Coit Tower>North Beach>Chinatown>BART back to Mission.  I am wondering if my plan is too ambitious and should I instead do Greenwich Steps>Coit Tower>North Beach>Chinatown>BART back to Mission.  What do people think?  Wednesday I plan on taking it easy and going up to Bernal Heights before heading to Golden Gate Park.

Aren't you going to visit TXR while visiting SF?

I went about 4 years ago to see one of the anniversary shows that Phil was doing that year.  Barry Sless was playing with a couple of guys in the bar area.  Musically I preferred the bar area.  Don’t feel the need to return.

"Don't feel the need to return"

Strikes me as an odd answer for a post on the Phil Zone.

Phil @ Terrapin

Walk

>>>Strikes me as an odd answer for a post on the Phil Zone<<<

I don't see it that way. I can see how people can be underwhelmed by the place.

Personally I love TxR, and I don't think there's really a thing seriously wrong with it, but it's often built up as some type of Mecca where it's all holy GD/Phil perfection, when it's really just a cool place. Honestly, I think it's probably much better if you can go there regularly, then it starts to become a fun place to hang, visit with friends and hear music, often REALLY GOOD music.

High expectations can really get in the way of a good time.

And I'd say that plan B makes more sense for one day. I'd rather have time to roam around North Beach & Chinatown than take so much of a day for Sausalito.

And a ferry from the Embarcadero to Fisherman's Wharf? Do they run a ferry like that? It's only about ten blocks or so.

Whatever you do, whoop it up!

Yes plan B is what I have decided at this point.  Decided I was getting a bit overly ambitious.  Regarding TRX it was wonderful but a stand alone for me.  Have seen many GD shows and post GD including at least 20+ at the Cap.  Like I said I don’t feel the need to return.  Other roads to travel.  Definitely gonna woop it up, challenge will be to pace myself.  Anybody interested on getting a drink let me know, my treat.

Where ya coming in from Crazy Fingers?

Red Bank NJ

Safe travels.  I'm an expat of the Philadelphia area.  This place crushes northeastern summer weather

Thanks for the invite, OGPZ. Can't say if we'll be able to meet up yet. We're going to try and hike Laguna Fire Coast loop as early as we can but we're typically late starters.

Not coming in until Monday but if it were earlier I’d probably go to the TRX thunder and lightning.  Old habits die hard, when in Rome sort of thing.  Less odd Treeflo?
