David Nelson Venue Closes

Forums:

Actually it's just my local town bar. Many Rock and Roll greats have passed through it's doors. They did midget stuff recently.

"Lifelong Forestville resident and club owner Wayne Speer, 79, says he hopes to get permission to reopen and continue operating while repairs are made."

I should make him an offer. Who's in?

Nice hook in the thread title.

A zoner pro for sure.

Good luck with your local bar dude.

I’m in.  This looks like a good opportunity.  I bet that anonymous whistleblower is working for a developer that already has plans for that property.

Aww the Club is gone, fare thee well to one of my favorite dive bars in the West County....

The Sunday afternoon shows were always sweaty and fun.  Have seen some excellent music there over the years.

The ugly 70's paneling on the walls, complete with album covers decor, reminded me of basements on the East Coast.  A true dive bar.

a midnite raid to "preserve" the marquee sign is in order...

I have fond memories of seeing a great Kimock show there in August, 2008.

There is some fine recordings of the DNB from the old Forestville Club.

3 of the them are from none other than Peakfifteen Pete!

I think it was at this show, or some related Kimock show -- the place was sweatbox packed and the bartenders were so drunk by mid-show it was impossible to get a normal drink. And the one bar-back guy would  always pick the quiet moments to stumble through the crowd collecting glasses and clanking them so loud, it surely ruined the tapes -- and those glasses were definitely not washed too well, if at all, before they were reused. Good times...

I lived down the way on Occidental Rd and never actually went there unless a hippie band was playing. The local locals were generally not too engaging and it was more interesting to hang at the Sebastopol haunts. But that place raged when good music was in town.

on a related note -- anyone remember the DNB New Years Eve show at Ace Cider Pub? I got engaged that night and celebrated there. I could use a recording of that if anyone could point me in the right direction. Whatever happened to the Cider pub?.. for a short while they had music on the patio and served food.

I do remember the NYE @ Ace Cider Pub tiny venue. Most out of Towne folks stayed in the only Hotel in Seb. had to leave early  Shuttle Bus was on strict schedule. always good times @ the Pub !!  Pretty sure I was @ every Forrestville Shows !

Two stone guys at the same show.melvin_4.jpg

If I remember correctly, this place also hosted a few Zoner bands.
Hope Forestville gets their bar back.
