Uncontrollable Urge - Lollapalooza 1996

Uncontrollable Urge

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah!
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah!

Got an urge, got a surge and it's out of control
Got an urge, I wanna purge 'cause I'm losing control
Uncontrollable urge, I wanna tell you all about it
Got an uncontrollable urge that make me scream and shout it

He's got an uncontrollable urge (I've got an uncontrollable...)
He's got an uncontrollable urge (I've got an uncontrollable...)

It's got style, it's got class
So strong, I can't let it pass
I gotta tell you all about it
I gotta scream and shout it

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah!
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah!

Got an urge, got a surge and it's out of control
Got an urge, I wanna purge 'cause I'm losing control
Uncontrollable urge, I wanna tell you all about it
Got an uncontrollable urge, make me scream and shout it

He's got an uncontrollable urge (I've got an uncontrollable...)
He's got an uncontrollable urge (I've got an uncontrollable...)

It's got style, it's got class
So strong, I can't let it pass
I gotta tell you all about it
Make me scream and shout it

I got an uncontrollable urge, I wanna tell you all about it
An uncontrollable urge, make me scream and shout it

And I say yah (he says yah!)
And I say yea-ah (he says yea-ah!)
And I say yah (yah!)
And I say yea-ah (yea-ah!)
And I say yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah!
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah!

I'm hoping that DEVO's upcoming show at the Burger Boogaloo in CA is not a one off and they go back out on the road. Losing Bob 2 was devistating. I worked a meet and greet with them in Atlantic City (where the above photo was taken) and they impressed me with how long the talked to each fan, posed for multiple photos and kept everyone laughing. All to often in those meet and greets it's shake hands, take a photo and get out the way for the next fan.

what a GUT

Crank it!

*And I have never used "owned."

I actually had a document on my desk tonight that used the word "devolve."

A first.

The Brits might use it regularly, eh what?

never forget them marching in unison on people's dinner tables knocking plates and shit off. amazing.

^^My morning commute thoughts reminded me that "Freedom of Choice" was my first ever cassette tape purchase.  Bought it used from my friend Judd.  Popped the tape in and pressed play.  Changed my life.  cool

(Judd also sold me a cassette of AC/DC "Back in Black" the same day)

Another memory just popped up:

I remember going to my best friend Peter's house for a slumber party and we caught Devo performing live on "Fridays"

Freedom of Choice came to mind first but Johnny got me there.

Here's a slightly later edition tune.  :)

I'm a fan.

They were a MUCH better live act and overall musical group than they were ever given credit for.

I remember seeing them on "Saturday Night Live"  and going,  liek "WTF did I just witness ??"

'Twas all the kids at shool could talk about on Monday...

They were a MUCH better live act and overall musical group than they were ever given credit for.

Agreed.

One indicator of how good they actually are is the fact that perhaps the #1 session drummer in the world these days, Josh Freese, is considered a member of DEVO and has been their go to go since 1996. Freese's resume is a who's who of rock, currently and in the past, playing on tour and recording with, Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Green Day, The Vandals, Dweezil Zappa, A Perfect Circle, Guns N Roses, Weezer, The Replacements and many, many more. The guy is the serious shit.

Love Gut Feeling.

Mark Mothersbaugh is a pretty talented and prolific movie soundtrack artist too these days.
