I frequent this place often, it’s usually open.

‘drive slower’ signs are posted throughout my community. There are no speed limit signs and I’ve yet to get a response to my inquiry as to what the actual speed limit is and if we’re being asked to drive slower than the speed limit. Police said if it’s not posted it’s 25 mph, meanwhile the HOA thinks  it’s 5 mph. I’ve been confiscating the stupid plastic green men they keep leaving in the middle of the road. Oh, I actually do drive slowly..well, slower than 25 mph

an official speed limit sign would help.

You steal people's "Drive like your kids live here" signs?

Only if they’re in the middle of the roadway would I remove them, for safety. Swerving around them could cause an accident

Are you channeling Tore up, pool boy?

>>>>You steal people's "Drive like your kids live here" signs?

That doesn’t sound like a good thing to do. If I knew someone who was doing that I’d tell them to stop for sure.

>>>>Swerving around them could cause an accident

depends how fast you speed really, maybe just slow down instead? That’s what my driving instructor would say.

How about don’t leave obstacles in the middle of the road. I get it when kids are playing in the street, when they’re done their games they need to take their ball and stupid signs with them

Hmm. Around here kids don't play in the street unless it's a cul-de-sac. I think it's probably illegal - they could getcha for jay-walking no doubt. There are plenty of parks and back yards.

>There are plenty of parks and back yards.

plenty of parks, however backyards here are tiny and the play does spill into the streets sometimes. there are 3 awesome playgrounds within easy walking distance. sure,  if the parents want to put out some cones or stupid green people holding "slow" signs WHILE the kids are shooting baskets in the street or running around wild with their nerf guns, fine.  Parks still make more sense.  Seems that these parents are too lazy to take the kids to the playground - or deal with fears of "stranger danger" and  consider letting the kids go to the park by themselves.

UPS and FED EX aren't going to slow down because of the stupid signs, in fact before I started removing them they were leaving their tire tracks on them.

How much time do you spend on the street being bothered?

And why is it funny if unsupervised children are run over in the street while walking to a park?

Dude, you seem bothered all the time here. Maybe you need to find another hobby.

You suggest I walk around the neighborhood stealing slow down signs so you can get fast and furious?

I suggested you find another hobby. Making muffins perhaps? Potting plants? Or go play in the street..

Does everyone take your advice?

Nancy, you have public streets managed by a homeowners association?

We used to play street hockey in the street and if people saw we were playing and didn’t go around the block and drove through we’d give them hell I tell you what. We are talking a side street here not a busy road and people generally are courteous here about driving and kids they don’t speed or slalom through.

Yes, Racket. sort of. It’s private street and maintained by HOA. The developer made an agreement with the City. Private but still the City makes the rules for the road and there’s also a public easement in the street

Drive like your kids.  Live here

....no thanks.  wink

Speed limit on my street is 25 MPH. Kids are always riding bikes, playing street hockey, scootering and playing basketball. It’s that kind of shit that makes it a real neighborhood.

Just around the corner are a few bars and restaurants that are tourist destinations. Those SOBs often leave the bar and come flying down my street, sometimes hitting 50. Cars are parked on both sides of an already narrow street, mostly bar goers from out of state. It’s downright dangerous. I have no problem gesturing a car to slow down, or even yelling at them. It’s a family neighborhood with well posted speed limits. It’s just douchy.

The only sign that actually works is the one that shows the speed limit and “your speed.” People slow down for that.

If any ever comes across any short 15 second or so videos of-signs- that are from famous iconic companies that are now out of business, please let me know.

I use a 2 variations of flashing Holiday Inn signs in my Mini Movies.

I used 1 "Dead-Center" in the one "Grateful Dead 68 Shrine Mini Movie" between Dark Star and St. St. Stephen as the band is carefully sliding in  2 days ago. I like it a lot.

The radar signs are all over my route.

>The only sign that actually works is the one that shows the speed limit and “your speed.”<<

One town over from mine, they have a "Your Speed" rig that has a built-in "cherry-top" (modern red/blue version) that light/spins when someone breaks 25 mph.  That shit works.  Instant brake lights.

A different one-town-over has rimmed several of its STOP signs with red LED lights.  There's been one in Union City (white LEDs) for several years.

A "classic" from my hometown, stretched across the facade of a large produce market: Buy wholesale at retail prices.

They lasted longer than you'd imagine using that pitch.
