I'm too dumb Joe Russo's almost dead Facebook

how do I get a link and password to the Oakland fox

  Gratitude in advance

I've got to learn to read the small print....

"The password for the band Facebook Pre Sales will be posted on the Almost Dead Facebook Page at the times noted above"

It took a few minutes to navigate to their page (hint: JRAD won't do it) so I was about 4 minutes late getting into the ticket site but I only wanted center loge anyway and ended up in the 4th row which is fine.  It didn't help that the e-mail for the Tower pre sale arrived just before 1:00, thus my mistaking tomorrow's code for todays.

Kind of a drag that these guys gave graduated to the bigger halls, but on the other hand I won't have to stand up in the Fillmore all night.  And I assume they're making more these days, good for them.

tickets in cart and wife said NO!

Coming to Texas for the first time!

Got a couple of Tix behind Thom....good times.

Got GAs for both nights of Oakland and bought passes for Austin / Waterloo fest yesterday, woo hoo!

FYI, even though JRAD website says one night only for Austin, the schedule release will *supposedly* reveal more JRAD.

Tower: GA for Thurs & Got a couple of Tix behind Thom for Fri

What is the password for The Fox in Oakland?

THANK YOU FOG !

In for Oakland GA both nites .  Haven't caught JRAD yet and haven't been to the Fox since that opening Furthur w end- how long ago was that?

In for Oakland both nights Mezz Row H in the middle. I need seats at my age lol

Thanks Fog!!

We ended up with seats for the Anthem also, we can always go down to the floor if need be. Funny i had to add single seats to my cart then i finally got two good ones together. It never let me add two at a time. I don't do facebook, it was a bit confusing but we got it.

And thank you Llollo..

"Got a couple of Tix behind Thom....good times. "

Most excellent. Fitzman is in the area as well, it'll be a festival.

DC is during Phish at Hampton.

Pass.

^^^^

has that been announced?

Not sure. But hotels are already sold out.

>>DC is during Phish at Hampton.

Appears announced

Thom, Looking forward to meeting both of you.  Debating the eagles game on Sunday.....

Zang- That's from 2013

They will be playing Hampton though.

We booked the Embassy Suites weeks ago.

>>Pass.

Well, at least there will be less Phish fans at JRAD in DC.

This is a plus.

water flowing underground

>>>Zang- That's from 2013

Ha....oh well

in there like swimwear for the fox. floor first night and mezz second night. bringing lots of fancy weed in fancy jars from the new job to give away to zoners - come track me down, ill be the guy that looks pretty high.

Need a little advice here. The only code that works for me is "hideaway". It's the APE concerts password, I'm trying for Oakland tix. Even when I go through the jrad site, only "hideaway" works.

The path goes to a ticketmaster page, this has never been a problem before. But, no floor tix are shown as available. Could they be gone for the pre sale already, or an I missing something?

May have to try the regular sale tomorrow. Dang.

I can pull GA tix with "hideaway" on Sunday. Saturday is gone.

Grab the Sunday while you can!

<<We booked the Embassy Suites weeks ago

That was the only one still available last week.

Personally, I can't stand being in Hampton for three days.

We are at an airbnb in Norfolk. Booked it about a month ago.

General sale always works best for me. Pulled Loge center tickets for both nights in Oakland and a pair of floors for Saturday. Options are good to have.

Got Saturday Oakland tix (GA floor) today through regular sale. So I'm happy.

Is  Philly Friday sold out?

Might have an extra ticket.

Very few left for Friday.

Looks like they are all resale but I could be wrong.   Plenty for Thursday.

No stinky phish wooks at the anthem, bonus.

Saturday balcony tix for Oakland are finally sold out.  Looking for 1 GA for a friend...

I’m in for the JRAD’s on Saturday in DC then Sunday Phishing in Hampton...see y’all on the flip side.

I'm trying to rustle up a comfy Loge seat for Tower 1st night.  Couple people have them on CashorTrade,  waiting to hear back.

"Little Saigon" in the neighborhood is supposed to have excellent Vietnamese food.

Should be fun.  Haven't been to the Tower in eons.

Stu,

Plenty of tower seats available for the first night....including good ones.

Thanks Mr. Zang.

I looked at TicketBastard page,  and there are a zillion loge and balcony seats for Thursday.

Quite a few Orchestra as well.  Friday there are not as many,  and T-Bastard are selling them above face.

Interesting how Oteil B. will be filling in or Dreiwitz on bass for the first three-four shows of the tour,  I don't foresee a problem with that.

Maybe they will rehearse a bit.

>>>>nteresting how Oteil B. will be filling in or Dreiwitz on bass for the first three-four shows of the tour

Missed that completely.

If you need a ticket for night two I've got one for you.   Right now I'm going solo.

Thanks Mr. Z.

Might take you up on that.  Really like what these guys have been doing,  so why not go both nights.  Not like they'll play the same sets.  Plus every time I drag myself out of the Swamp and visit civilization,  I say 'Should get out more often'.

I'm still debating Thursday myself.

Ticker is yours if wanted.

JRAD shows all day here -- (It's JRAD Friday)
http://mixlr.com/h2oradio--2/

Zang - I contacted a few people on CoT re:  Thursday tixx.  Still waiting to hear back.  If you still have the Friday not spoken for,  I'd say let's meet at the Little Saigon or the Waterford before the show.

So I want to go at least one of the two,  possibly both.

I still have the ticket.   I'll have to see timing on meeting up but could happen.

Hey Tower people,  Does anyone know if GA Pit set up pushes back first orch (double letters). Trying to decide if loge or floor mm. Dont want to be under balc.

Been to tower 100 times, never w ga pit though, unless its just where reg pit is. Thanks.

i'll go for free.

my friend and I each bought tix (DOH!)  so deciding which to keep. Myrtle, if you are serious, might be able to help.

Floor MM is not under the balcony. A is the start of under the balcony. I'd take MM over loge.

Thats what I was thinking. They are both good acoustically but under the balc is meh.  Come on up Fog, Got a free tik for ya for your years of support here.smiley

The tease theme will only be decipherable to those whom attend all three shows. GTATS!

Stu, you takin my ticket tomorrow or not?

Oteil with JRAD in Philly tonight.

Stu, will you be in the house tonight?

Well that was a good time in Upper Darby last night

Not the best JRAD show, but a good dance all night sweat through your shirt show.

Mr Zang,

Not going tonight (Friday).  Show was great fun last night,  but the commute both ways was absolutely heinous.

PSA to anyone using I-95 for Philadelphia access:  they are paving various stretches on both Northbound and Southbound I-95,  which means incredible traffic bottlenecks.  I left home before 6 PM and didn't get back until 3 AM. Tower's  only 40-some miles distant.  Anyway, avoid I-95 if possible.

Got to the box office a little before 8 and they had plenty of tickets for sale,  including GA Pit Orchestra (supposedly sold-out). The SRO section is where the "double-letter" seats formerly were.  I got a "Row A" Orchestra seat just behind the GA Pit,  to the right of the SBD.

The front row of Orch. seats are just in front of the Mezzanine overhang. Sound was a bit Bassy, but pretty uniform through the Orchestra seats.

Actually,  the better seats are the Loge / Mezzanine. Went upstairs for some of set II and preferred the mix even in lower Balcony area (compared to downstairs).  Lights look better from up there also.  I'll try to post a few fotos later.

TY Sir Stu!  Thi is exactly the info I was looking for.  There were two different floor plans and despite my earlier post we opted to keep the loge. That pit set up threw off most seating charts.  TY!!!  A joyous and fruitful weekend to you, worms and H.I.M.

regards,

fly

I'd agree loge is better than row a orchestra, still MM orchestra is better then loge, Thats just me though i prefer the floor energy as long as its not too far back underneath which MM is not.. I don't think they change the actual seat letter location from show to show. I'm going saturday in DC, can't make it up there tonight, thanks for that wonderful offer though.

Enjoy the show.

It's all very subjective how each individual perceives the sonic qualities of an amplified band over a PA system.  I like to explore a venue to taste the mix in various spots throughout the room.  Antique movie / vaudeville theatres like the Tower or the Cap tend to have better acoustics compared to concrete boxes like Higher Ground or Electric Factory.  It's also neat to see the architectural details in the building,  rather than cinder block.

thanks again gents.

The Tower is a beautiful venue and one of my favorites. The Anthem in DC has great acoustics also with a nice seat set up, very impressive.

Stu, good report on the traffic tip.

First, the gentrification of the dc wharf has fully taken over, YUCK. It really is a nice area now and they did a good job on the transformation of the area. Still most old school local fish mark folks are disgusted. The Anthem is a gem though, good set up, good acoustics. Only real complaint is the parking could be better.

JRAD was great and i get why people rave about them, good tempo and tight for the most part. Oteil absolutely crushed High Time, i saw him adjusting his mic before it started wondering what he was up to i had no idea he could sing and good for them for letting him do it. We were at the back of the floor most of the night, good crowd with mostly younger people totally enjoying themselves. I took a few pics from the balcony area and will try to post them soon. We had box seats and checked them out at set break then moved back down to the floor.

Excellent show !

So I've got a few more blurry Architectural detail shots of Tower Theatre,  and extremely crappy stage/band shots.

The effort is more for folks who have never been there,  to marvel at the Old-Time looks of the place.

Short sets.

Gives Melvin’s JGB shows a run for the money for being the  shortest.

2nd set: 5 songs before the encore.

1st set: 7 songs.

Must of been a time curfew

I was very disappointed in the Tower shows.  Sadly, the band is regressing, not progressing.  They have become complacent, formulaic, and predictable.  5 song 1st or 2nd set sets just don't cut it.  Not every song needs to be a 12 - 15 minute exploratory piece.  How about expanding the song selection?  They seem to have severely curtailed their repetoire from just a year or two ago.  Also, how about starting the show at 8:30 instead of 9:15 and add 1, 2,or 3 songs into the setlist?  The wow factor just isn't there anymore.  sad

Fitzman, Do you think Oteil being there as a replacement had impact.  Doesn't change your comments on setlist and no knock on Oteil.   Just a bit harder to find your groove when you have a replacement in.

No.  I saw them with Oteil at Brooklyn bowl in 2016 for three shows and they were far and away better than this weekend.  I just think they don't try very hard anymore.

^^^Correction^^^  The Brooklyn bowl shows were 3/16, 3/17, 3/18 2017.  Check those setlists versus the Tower this weekend and you will see my point.

I agree with Keith that they have gotten a bit more predictable but I still enjoyed Friday night and thought Oteil added a lot to the mix.  I didn't mind the shorter set lists since they were starting so late anyway, my biggest complaint was that the sound never got as tuned in as it does in the smaller venues that I'm used to seeing these guys play (and we were dead center lower loge where the sound should be as good as it gets).  I'm glad that they have moved up to a bigger pay day but there was a noticeable difference in the sound/vibe from being in a larger venue.

Stu, that upper balcony is just about where I was for two of the three '76 Dead show I saw.

5 song 1st or 2nd set sets just don't cut it.>>

We got 7 songs each set.

Predictable, hahaha, i remember in 85 the GD playing Women R Smarter over and over, just one example and Jrad isn't the GD.

From The Anthem

Thom2,  You are lucky to have caught those '76 GD shows at the Tower.  I was up there for Jerry & John Kahn acoustic early '80's, whatever year that was.  Also saw 'Bobby & The Midnites' maybe 1981 but we were on the floor near the stage.

Anyway,  what I've enjoyed listening to recordings of JRAD is/are the Stunt-Plane transitions, segues, and intense Jams between pieces of GD songs.
What I saw the other day was more like them getting in a particular Gear and staying there for a while.

An enjoyable evening of Music,  but somewhat lacking the Daredevil thrills of their earlier efforts.

Fog,  thanks for the Anthem Photos.  Place is larger than what I envisioned.

I wish they would change their name to JRAA and play almost anything. There really is no need for the entire set to be dead songs it just needs to be recognizable songs to counter point the jams. Anyway still looking forward to the weekend of the 10th at the Fox

There really is no need for the entire set to be dead songs>>>

Agreed, still there would be complainers if there were too many non GD songs.

You'll get teases of different songs and that's it.

"Predictable, hahaha,"

It isn't the song selection that has gotten predictable, it's the technique that they use, you can pretty much count on a rave up for every jam.  That being said, one of the nice differences I noticed Friday was a number of quiet jams that would take a long time to build up (to the inevitable rave).  The Stranger jam (second song, first set) was a good example of this and they pulled it off a number of times over the course of the night.  It was a nice counterpoint to the usual full-on pedal-to-the metal jam style that has become their trademark sound.

Joe Russo’s Almost Dead is pleased to announce the band’s first three shows of 2019. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, January 18th, 19th & 20th, 2019 respectively, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead will return to The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY for a three night run.

one of the nice differences I noticed Friday was a number of quiet jams that would take a long time to build up (to the inevitable rave).  >>>>>

They did something similar to that saturday. This was my first time so i don't have an earlier example to compare to, all i know is it was good, really good.

The quiet jams are nice because they usually don't have any T-Ham.

Thanks LLOLLO,

Picked up what I need for each night.

See Y'all there!!

They played the Cap almost the same nights this year and it was Zero Degrees in my car after it was warming up for over 10 minutes.

I'd like to go again...

Willy! Good to see you on Viva.

Glad to be of  help... wish I could make those shows.... better nab your Philton room!

We love NY but not in mid january. Thanks for posting that LLOLLO, maybe one day we'll get an acceptable Phil Cap Run lineup, i sure miss those shows, good and not as good.

Playing late night tonight for the Hulloween festival in North Florida. My son and his crew will be there. My wife is jealous.  I'm not, we have Dweezil tonight.

Ooooo, just saw those Jan dates, tempting.

Hey Foghorn - thanks for your comment... we are of like mind!

Though I would love to see this JRAD  run, too.

Well if i would have been so lucky to have obtained a three day pass i might have considered it. It would be fun no doubt. Too far to drive with possible snow on the ground, i'm going with that excuse. I think the last time i was there it was unseasonably warm, faint memories of JK..
