I believe Wales had a gig at the Matrix, and Garcia and Kahn ended up jamming with him. According to one of those guys, they spent much of the set muttering "What key are we in?" to each other.

1970 was a critical year in John Kahn's musical history, because that was the year he started playing with Jerry Garcia. Despite many mutual acquaintances, Garcia and Kahn apparently had not met until they played together with Howard Wales. Appropriately, they seem to have met on stage.

4/19/75 Milwaukee, because it was the only LOM show I was able to acquire back in the day of snail mail tape trades, and I listeened to this show alot.
