now watch the judge who signed the warrant be a 45 appointee

Noose tightening.

Melt Much...

According to Kaitlan Collins, the former president confirmed the raid to CNN in a statement laden with angry tirades against Democrats and law enforcement.

"These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home ... is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents," said Trump. "Nothing like this has happened to a President of the United States before ... They even broke into my safe! What is the difference between this and Watergate, where operatives broke into the Democrat [sic] National Committee? Here, in reverse, Democrats broke into the home of the 45th President of the United States."

"The political persecution of President Donald J. Trump has been going on for years, with the now fully debunked Russia, Russia, Russia Scam, Impeachment Hoax #1, Impeachment Hoax #2, and so much more, it just never ends. It is political targeting at the highest level!" He then went on to whine that Hillary Clinton never got served with a warrant by the FBI and was "allowed to delete and acid wash 33,000 emails" and "even took antique furniture" from the White House.

"The lawlessness, political persecution, and Witch Hunt must be exposed and stopped," Trump concluded. "I will continue to fight for the Great American People!"

The current director of the FBI was appointed by Trump

Home raided by the authorities, never thought I'd ever have anything in common with that pos but there it is.

This just keeps gettin better and better.

Do you rhink Joe or Hunter or Hillary or Obama etc.... are any  better!?

LOL

Not a fan of police brutality or no knock warrants, but part of me is sad they didn't go in guns a blazing like with Breonna Taylor or otherwise Waco-ize the compound.

Drain the swamp!

> Drain the swamp!

I wonder what the over-under is on how many times Trump had to change his drawers today.

Is he dejected, pissed, whatever, or just letting the catsup speak for him?

Congratulations to Sean Hannity, it took him 2min 45sec to mention Hunter. But than said his name like 10 times in a minute. I kid not

Hannity is the epitome of whataboutism personified.

This is the greatest video ever!

https://video.foxnews.com/v/6187942113001#sp=show-clips

I can't imagine ONE person who ever served and/or even supports the US Military giving this guy the yes vote. That the guy has ANY support is simply astounding and terribly sad to me.

What would a trumpster response be to this video?

Leading the vote for arguably one of the worst Americans ever? Tim McVeigh, Martin Shkreli

>Hannity is the epitome of whataboutism personified.

Yeah, and his idiot viewiers spewing the same lame crap. Deplorable ignorant fools.

>Do you rhink Joe or Hunter or Hillary or Obama etc.... are any  better!?

Are you fuckin serious? Get a clue. And turn off Hannity.

Kudos to whoever ordered the raid. You know they had good reason.

Pussy-grabber prolly a little bit worried about his collection of 24k gold plated penis extenders and anal beads being photographed.  The "safe".

"Yesterday is a hard word for me."

How about "today?"

Yes, Dolittle, I think they're all better. Hunter Biden isn't an elected official, so in spite of what your fascist propaganda is feeding you, he's meaningless. Trump is the bottom of the barrel. Even Nixon was better.

Went after Classified WH Documents or something more sinister ?

Speculation is a mutherfucker,, spill it FBI

Donald could reveal all the dark persecution of the FBI by simply releasing the search warrant the FBI served him.

He doesn't because well, he's not being persecuted, and he thinks this will help his campaign

Here's an interesting scenario, at least to me. What if the Donald was holding a stash of  non-medical cannabis and a zealous law enforcement official decided to raid the place?

Would people here say Trump shouldn't have been busted, much like what they would say if on of us were due to draconian laws?

theft of classified documents is not the same as keeping some pot, jeez. nor is treason and sedition.

Trump is going down, deal with it.

If you're afraid of Merrick Garland authorizing a raid of your safe or taking your stash, change your strain.

^^Not remotely interesting, ski

It's a red herring.

Would people here say Trump<<<<

"I voted for Gary Johnson in 2016!! I voted for Gary Johnson in 2016!!!!!!!! I voted for Gary Johnson in 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I yell as the sound of the DeWalt power tool is used on me; not a piece of wood, screw, or bolt.

Add search warrant to the list of documents he doesn't understand.

The judge decreed it, Dumb Donny, the judge he wrote it down.

I am finding the responses interesting.

It was a what if question with no illusion as to other potential crimes that may have been committed. For the record, from my first exposure to Donald Trump, I have found him to be one of the most repugnant human's that has ever walked the face of this earth. If convicted, I would hope that a public hanging would be the punishment and would really hope that he cried like a baby as well as soiled himself on a national broadcast before he clawed for his last breath.

Still, if the scenario I posted above was the only crime based on laws I don't agree with, I would hope the conviction would be overturned, just as I would if anybody else found themselves in that situation. Not a red herring at all.

^ Would you say the same thing in a counter-factual hypothetical instance if it were actually Hitler instead?

this search warrant is based on the work of a federal grand jury.

Your scenario is irrelevant.

Yes, it's a red herring, an inane one ta boot.

It will take years, turtle. That's what they'll say.

No cuffs. Not ever.

The goal isn't cuffs

A question I find interesting about deferring to "institutionalism":  why is "international law" not recognized in the same light as US law in terms of deference; as if it were immoveable bedrock?

When it comes down to it, is it not the "Big Wheel turn by the grace of God" that which outlines the ultimate "institution"?

Sure, Face, but whose god?

> Not a red herring at all.

If not, skifurthur, then what was your purpose? Are you suggesting the laws of how we govern ourselves are Draconian? That's about all I can glean from you first post, and it's a stretch.

Not to speak for Ski, but I'm reading it as, "even though Trump is the biggest piece of shit to have ever lived, would I, and you, want him to get popped for something I don't believe anyone should get popped for?"

And then he's saying, "no, but I'd like to see him shit himself while hanging for a real crime?'"

Another wonderful move by those hoping to take him down.

The only ones who know what they went in for ain't talkin, and the longer they don't talk, the more $$ trump and the rnc is raking in. $$ wins elections, nice job FBI. That fuck Comey handed chump his 1st presidency, they're working ot to get him another. I have little to no faith in Garland.

^^^When it comes down to it, is it not the "Big Wheel turn by the grace of God" that which outlines the ultimate "institution"?

yes but even that seems to have a differential on the axle

> "would I, and you, want him to get popped for something I don't believe anyone should get popped for?"

And that's where it went red herring, BK, unless he's suggesting Trump shouldn't get popped for the things he has done (destroying government records, seditious conspiracy, fraud, etc.).

Two things.

Trump has the search warrant that shows exactly what the FBI was looking for. If this is a witch hunt he can make that document public. He hasn't.

No way they get this warrant without someone in his inner circle turning on him. Probably more than one person. Who has turned? My guess is Meadows is at the top of the list, but Giuliani isn't going down without taking some people with him.

> Who has turned?

Who took the pictures of Trump's notes in the toilet that are set to appear in Maggie Haberman's new book?

And why the hell were they even in Trump's bathroom, let alone looking in the bowl? Maybe to snap a pic of presidential skids?

^to document evidence of a crime?

I'm pretty sure Trump's digestive system sees his diet as a crime.

The hits keep coming!

"House panel has right to see Trump tax records - federal appeals court"

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/house-committee-see-trump-tax-1603282...

This seems like a weird twist that may have allowed for excessive wiggle room and cover-ups.

"Lawyers received instructions to secure Trump's document room months before the FBI search at Mar-a-Lago: report"

https://www.yahoo.com/news/lawyers-received-instructions-secure-trumps-0...

Pretty much spot on.

Taking classified documents is a real crime.

Are you suggesting that it is not?

^

No. My original post was based on, and only on, law enforcement finding a stash of  non-medical cannabis and him getting busted for that. That's it.

Sure, Face, but whose god?<<<

Does the Wheel still not turn; regardless of who lays claim to how or why?

I'm confused, skifurthur. Why propose a completely unrealistic fantasy scenario when there's plenty of actual wrong-doing to kick around? That's why it played like a red herring.

And then there's this. Actual evidence that the good old US of A is on its way down the crapper.

Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham on Monday denied that she leaked photos of a White House toilet containing ripped up documents to New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman.

https://thehill.com/homenews/media/3593920-grisham-denies-she-was-source...

>No. My original post was based on, and only on, law enforcement finding a stash of non-medical cannabis and him getting busted for that. That's it.<

So you fabricated a false senerio, completely unrelated to the facts, and irrelevant to the crimes being investigated?

Yes, it's a red herring.

Whataboutism meets Whatifism

Weak defense of MAGA turd

Quite a while ago, there were news reports about T fucking up the White House plumbing by always flushing paper notes down the toilet (which helped explain his toilet complaints earlier).  Sounded like at the time, he wasn't teachable on why / how to stop...    now everyone is reporting it

OIP.kG22bHUJhkimK8eyOxsyswHaEG.jpeg

OCLT,

It was a thought that I found interesting with no agenda but post about a weird thought that went thru my head. I wasn't attempting to distract from the original subject, nor imply that that scenario had happened. Although a red herring traditionally has some hidden agenda behind it, I guess my statement loosely qualifies. How about we call it an inadvertent red herring?

Weak defense of MAGA turd

There is not one word that I posted that defends the subject in any manner and since I may have advocated publicly broadcast hanging, my supposed defense isn't very good is it?

Fair enough, ski

"This search warrant in my estimation probably underwent more withering scrutiny that any search warrant in the history of the Department of Justice," said David Laufman, a former Justice Department official who oversaw prosecutions of national security offenses.

Give him enough time to capitalize and strategize.

Not much new information. We have had Trump's lawyer accusing the FBI of planting stuff so that could mean he knows they have something he shouldn't have. The most plausible explanation is he refused to give back all the documents he was supposed to and was doing his usual thing of running out the clock. There had been ongoing negotiations. They could have issued the search warrant just to get the documents back because it was viewed as a national security risk to have them at the golf course.

That said once they went into the safe who the hell knows what Trump keeps in there. Pictures from Epstein parties? A lifetime supply of Adderall? The rule is if something is in plain site when the FBI is conducting a search warrant they can charge on that. But bottom line is if they were just going to get the documents back -  there probably won't be charges.

>That said once they went into the safe who the hell knows what Trump keeps in there

My guess is burner phones,  love letter from Putin, and black mail materials on a few dozen accomplices, and classified  government documents he stole

Also, bootleg Viagra and a collection of miniature cock rings.

Gold coins from Rosland Capital

Trump thanks the FBI for kicking off his 2024 campaign.

>>>>The rule is if something is in plain site when the FBI is conducting a search warrant they can charge on that.

Is this really true? Are you a lawyer? What if it's in a drawer that they have to open?

this is sort of personal with me, that's why i ask.

thanks either way

> Trump thanks the FBI for kicking off his 2024 campaign.

By that logic, he should be thankful for the IRS and the NY AG any day now too.

"If there's a grift to be grifted, he's gonna grift it," Leerhsen told Newsweek. "He has this very basic sense that he might be able to pawn it off on someone."

Enemies of the State would pay handsomely for classified documents Trump stole.

MAGA Traitor

Not much new information. We have had Trump's lawyer accusing the FBI of planting stuff so that could mean he knows they have something he shouldn't have.<<<<

I wonder if the FBI had a detailed protocol involving documentation via video of the entire search?

IOW, did that have the tapes rolling as they knocked on the door; then systematically continued to obtain continuous footage of all sectors being searched as the party moved throughout the property?

no smocking gun

"You see the mob takes the Fifth . . . If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?” - DJT

Because you aren't going to charge him if he doesn't admit to it.

>>Is this really true? Are you a lawyer? What if it's in a drawer that they have to open?

Not a lawyer but it was a lawyer who said that. The search warrant has to be very specific. So if the room with drawer is part of the search warrant then everything in there is fair game even if it doesn't have anything to do with the what they were searching for. That said if the search warrant is for the bedroom they can't go looking in the attic.

As for Trump the crazy thing about him pleading the 5th today is that is in response to a completely different investigation. Such much criminalizing

Thanks for the response El Nino.

Good information to know.

Also F Trump forever and anyone who supports that Un-American.

It will never cease to amaze me how so many people have such a hard time with truth and facts.

Drumph has the warrant and the seizure list.

He could release them anytime.

Gotta figure out the best way to monetize them first

Wasn’t trump that said anyone who pleads the 5th is guilty???

>>>It will never cease to amaze me how so many people have such a hard time with truth and facts.

The best explanation of seen for this is that Republicans view criminals as a class of people not as people who committed a crime. Since they don't view themselves as part of that class of people they can't ever be convicted of or even accused of committing a crime.

Lincoln Project still knows how to get under Trumps skin.

seems the DOJ has removed magistrate bruce reinhardt's bigraphical info from the southern district of FL's webpage.

https://www.flsd.uscourts.gov/magistrate-judges

interesting.

separately; a magistrate is a federal judge who is nominated to the court by committee (vs by the president), but not confirmed by congress. Their work is usually more limited (in scope and reach) than district judges. Magistrates typically oversee judicial proceedings and occasionally trials. Magistrate judges serve 8 year terms while confirmed appointees serve for life.

From Nancy's Newsweek link:

In late April, the source says, a federal grand jury began deliberating whether there was a violation of the Presidential Records Act or whether President Trump unlawfully possessed national security information. Through the grand jury process, the National Archives provided federal prosecutors with copies of the documents received from former President Trump in January 2022. The grand jury concluded that there had been a violation of the law, according to the Justice Department source.

This is what I call Irony:

Trump Made It A Felony To Mishandle Classified Documents In 2018

Sara Boboltz

Wed, August 10, 2022 at 10:21 AM

Few details have been made public as to why, exactly, the FBI and Department of Justice felt the urgent need to raid former president Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort on Monday.

Reports indicate Trump had been holding onto materials that were supposed to have been turned over to the National Archives. But officials have not commented on what was contained in those records ― and whether there are implications for U.S. national security.

The lack of information leaves only speculation about what sort of potential criminal activity the Department of Justice is looking into.

Oddly enough, one of the multiple laws covering the mishandling of government information is one that Trump himself amended during his tenure in the Oval Office, as pointed out by Tennessee state Sen. Jeff Yarbro (D) on Twitter.

Tucked into a bill Trump signed into law in January 2018 was a provision increasing the punishment for knowingly removing classified materials with the intent to retain them at an “unauthorized location.”

Previously, someone found guilty of this crime could face up to one year in prison. When former CIA Director David Petraeus was charged in 2015 with mishandling classified data, he pleaded guilty under this statute to avoid a felony charge, as Politico pointed out. A similar situation unfolded a decade earlier, when former national security adviser Samuel Berger pleaded guilty to removing terrorism-related materials from the National Archives in 2005.

Now, a person convicted of violating this law can face up to five years in prison ― making it a felony-level offense to mishandle classified documents under 18 U.S.C. 1924.

>>>It will never cease to amaze me how so many people have such a hard time with truth and facts.

Right. All logic and reason completely thrown out the window.

When questioned about losing 59 out of 60 election court cases - the likely response is:

"I'm special bc I know things the media doesn't report.  I just KNOW"

All for a guy who doesn't understand why anyone would fight for their own country.  "What's in it for ME?"

Zero respect for these followers.

Tons of respect for musical followers tho:

At what point does the Republican hierarchy start seeing Trump as a liability? I don't understand how they are still behind him.

^^I think said GOPrs do see that liability but also realize his remnant base of dedicated voters alongside the accumulated/"donated" $$ war chest could be quite helpful. Degraded politics as ever.

>>>At what point does the Republican hierarchy start seeing Trump as a liability? I don't understand how they are still behind him.

Privately they do see him as a liability, but it isn't Trump anymore. Trump chokes to death on hamburger tomorrow and it will be full blown conspiracy that the Dems had him killed. The tail is wagging the dog. They don't have a choice anymore because 40% of America has fallen down the Fox propaganda hole. Then main stream media goes out an interviews "man on the street" who regurgitate the propaganda and it's now supposed to be some sort of folksy wisdom.

The RIght sees itself becoming more and more irrelevant. Their spin on this is Replacement Theory. The thing is though they've become desperate. These are the death throes of the ways of old. They'll do anything to cling to what they once had. They're not stockpiling guns and ammo for no reason.

Some senior GOPers have been warned by allies of Mr. Trump not to continue to be aggressive in criticizing the DOJ and F.B.I. over the matter because it is possible that more damaging information about Mr. Trump related to the search will become public. https://nytimes.com/2022/08/11/us/politics/trump-fbi-subpoena.html

And the topic of Trump was avoided.

He hasn't spoken yet

My point still stands, it just comes with a side of doh! now.

....Thanks for coming but, despite some trumpeter's whining about it, we are following the rule of law and no further comments are available and no questions will be taken. LOL

That was the wrong link it hasn't started yet.

The link I posted went live and, after some brief commentary, ended fairly quickly as well. Basically, "stick it - you don't need to know the background investigation or raid justification thereafter, the investigation is ongoing, and dumbo leaked it's existence, not us."

DOJ filed a motion to have the search warrant and list of items taken during the search unsealed. Those things won't reveal anything more than we already know.

And that's where the media picks up the slack:

FBI searched Trump’s home to look for nuclear documents and other items, sources say

Classified documents relating to nuclear weapons were among the items FBI agents sought in a search of former president Donald Trump’s Florida residence on Monday, according to people familiar with the investigation.

Experts in classified information said the unusual search underscores deep concern among government officials about the types of information they thought could be located at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club and potentially in danger of falling into the wrong hands.

Nancy, Slack was just posting another take on his long-standing theory that Trump will never be prosecuted for anything, a theory I tend to agree with, although things ARE getting a little more interesting.

According to the Republican press conference this morning we all have nuclear documents on our phones and its no big deal. Don't know if Apple hid the ones on my phone like the U2 song they put on once but I can't find them. Maybe you will have better luck.

Couldn't agree with Josh Marshall more:

Republicans have rightly tried for most of the last six months to keep Donald Trump, literally and figuratively, out of the midterms. He’s now returned with a vengeance. They have no choice but defend him. To the hilt. It’s the bargain they struck with him years ago. That’s bad news for Republicans. Coming on top of much else that has happened over the summer, that development shifts the election from a referendum on Joe Biden and the generally upended and crappy state of the economy and world to a choice election between Democrats and Republicans who are identified with Donald Trump.

I’m not saying that means the Democrats will have a good election necessarily. But it’s a bad development for Republicans. There’s no getting around that.

More bad news for Trump. (My schadenfreude runneth over this week.)

The warrant shows federal law enforcement was investigating Trump for removal or destruction of records, obstruction of justice and violating the Espionage Act — which can encompass crimes beyond spying, such as the refusal to return national security documents upon request. Conviction under the statutes can result in imprisonment or fines.

Also, Trump is claiming he declassified the documents, but then there's this:

Not Even the President Can Declassify Nuclear Secrets

Fan letters and snapshots are one matter, and launch codes are another—and here the details of classification might decide just how much trouble Trump is in.
