one down three to go

Rooting for the Heat.

Quit baseball because of the ridiculous rule changes

Lost interest in football after hurricane sandy

Go Heat!

I hope they win all the asterisk trophies!

Kiss the asterisks, six

I regret that I have but one asterisk for my country.

No Name Heat will knock off KFJ and his band of west coast crybabies................

lumber, you stopped watching basketball because they outlawed hand checking?

are you a big fat asterisk, fabes?

I am sorry, if people here don't respect Jimmy Butler's grit, toughness and the incredible run the Heat have made this year then you just really aren't a fan of sports.

Tampa Bay the beat sports fans ,,,,sarc

^ Huh?

I'm all in for the Heat, but don't think they will win. Tampa Bay would be fine with me too as long as they stop the Yankee's, but Tompa Bay not a chance. TB 12 is not looking good. That could change, but looks like father time is catching up no matter how much goop you eat.

Two of Sixer's favorite teams are the Red Sox and the Giants- hmmm, where are they in the standings these days? And, I believe, the Bruins, who were just BOUNCED by Tampa Bay. He'll be by to explain how he doesn't quite have time for sport's this particular pandemic, and is on to more intellectual pursuits...

CONGRATS to my TB Lightning for winning the Stanley Cup last night- clearly the best team in hockey, with every round just as grueling as usual in the NHL, and rock on to every FL. sports team that's currently killin' it- BIG FUN!

(Waiting for 6 to ping me- "you're Lightning? When did you start playing for them"?)  ;-)

Sure six,

and double Huh?

No, Jr, I stopped watching baseball because of the DH and starting the 10th with a runner on second.

I love basketball, but I may stop watching if the NBA adds the 4pt shot

Nothing but respect for Jimmy Butler, holds himself and others to account

Congrats to the Lightning. A very deep team, getting it done w/o their captain and best player. And super props to the NHL who conducted the Covid-Cup tourney safely. They  kept mostly with the traditional playoff format, champions still had to win 4  best of 7 game series and  additionally play a  3 game seeding round ( many times playing back to back games).  And they played 75% of the regular season before shutting it down. No other major league champions will compare to the Stanley Cup Champions in the Covid Era...

... and the Lightning and Stars players and coaches didn't see their wives and families for 9 weeks.

Several women are gonna' be seriously happy in TB tonight.

sorry lumber, must have misunderstood you. also, gotta say that white boy Tyler Herro is going to be a star.  fucking love the Heat and what Pat Riley and Spoelstra have built

Sports just isn't that interesting without stadiums packed with fans.

>>He'll be by to explain how he doesn't quite have time for sport's this particular pandemic, and is on to more intellectual pursuits...

Earl, getting it wrong again. Now Earl is a feeble old man - so him getting things wrong is to be expected. I never said I "didn't have time for sports" I said I don't have any desire to follow pro-sports anymore. They are a joke and the pandemic has proven what a joke they are.

It's very sad to see Earl reduced to this. Very sad. Earl has become the zone equivalent of Trump. Lie upon lie.

"Sports just isn't that interesting without stadiums packed with fans."

The Tampa Bay Rays proved that years ago.

Also - without fans in the stands - the "games" are exposed for their core purpose. Money. This is what has quelled my desire to watch and follow them anymore.

Sixer's "desires" these day's are better left unspoken... sit's on the park bench a lot, though, pretending he's there to feed the pigeons and mumbling about Carl Crawford.

Who's Carl Crawford again? I kind of remember his name - but I forget why.

I literally stopped watching all sports (except golf when I need a nap) about three years ago after the Red Sox started to bore me by winning too much in the 21st Century. 4 times was enough. I really don't care for the state of MLB anymore and found this season to be pointless (which prompted my asterisk comment above - and I clicked into this thread originally because I thought "The Florida Foursome" was a golf reference.). And the NFL is one big brain-damaged debacle. I still like college basketball a bit - but that is technically not a "professional" sport. Hockey can still hold my interest at times, but not in empty arenas that only detach me from them. Sorry. I moved on. I have no passion for most sports anymore. Not making a big statement here - just being honest. You go ahead and enjoy sports. Please.

Gotcha'.

I'm sure "Wheel of Fortune"  and "Dancing With The Stars" fill that sports void nicely for you.

I like Jeopardy. Wheel puts me to sleep. However, I don't watch much TV at all lately either. I did enjoy Tiger King.
I'm more likely to stream something than watch linear TV. I only have basic cable - so those options are limited. And there is a TON of good old music concerts and such on youtube.

Life is too short for any kind of "void". The older I get - the faster time seems to go. I never have enough time in the day. Plus - I fall asleep earlier than I used to. lol

Congrats to the Tampa Bay Lightning!

Six's Sports knowledge*

*has been disabled for past 3 year, do not listen to any ramblings about any sports knowledge during this time frame

Apparently, my sports knowledge was disabled right around the same times as fabe's sense of humor. :(

What?  I thought that last post was pretty funny

Oh my! No harm no foul. Hey! There's some "sportser lingo" for you.

The next up of the now legendary "Florida Foursome", the Tampa Bay Rays, made quick work of Toronto, so it's on to the next round for my people. They have a very solid chance to win The AL. (Yes, Six, my people).

Heat start tomorrow- go underdogs!

NFL 2020 Week 5 - Foles v Brady Super Bowl rematch at Soldier Field promises to be an air assault shoot out the likes of which has never been seen before!

Good, maybe ticket prices will drop, and the average family will be able to attend games again

and let me add

go gators!
<chomp<chomp

as always could add another 3 or 4 ncaa ships this year too

Let the dominance begin

Wouldn't that be a nice unintended by-product, fabes.

I get it, Six, but if it was The Red Sox or NYGiants doing anything, you'd be glued to the boob tube.

Try to get in touch with reality, at least occasionally.

Six, the intention at UF is always focused on the ships, baseball, track, golf, swimming, football, men's or women's programs, UF is not a one trick pony like the Alabama's and Volunteers out there.

>>I get it, Six, but if it was The Red Sox or NYGiants doing anything, you'd be glued to the boob tube.

I have not watched a Red Sox or Giants game in over two years, Earl. Not one. I'm really done. Sorry this seems possibly incomprehensible to you, but it is the truth.

>>Try to get in touch with reality, at least occasionally.

I am in touch with it daily. Hope you are too, but, frankly, I am a bit worried about your cognitive skills.

Also - we cut the cord with cable last year - so I don't even get professional sports on my "boob tube" any longer at all. I have Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, Showtime and HBOMax.

Impressive, Sixer, seriously, you're a stronger and smarter man than me.

OR- possibly your testosterone level is "undetectable" these day's, not sure which.

My testosterone - who knows? lol
I've done more hiking, climbed more mountains and paddled my kayak farther this year than I have in the last 5 years combined.

I've also read more books too.

The whole covid isolation thing has been a whole different routine for me.

I'm lucky to live in a rural place with a lot of distance as the norm. It's easy to be outside here while being away from other people.

A whole different routine for everyone, my old buddy. Lotta newfound spare time goin' on.

Oh, Florida rules.

Go Heat- just gotta be for the underdog (+9.5 tonight).

Rays/Yankees Monday in San Diego. It's a crazy world.

Whoever has not been watching the NBA has missed some really good ball. Looks like the heat will go down to a powerful Laker team.

But out of all Laker teams from the past, this one is a bit odd, odd in feeling in it being a group of hired guns, kinda cheap championship with a NY Yankee feel to it, if it plays out that way

cheap in the sense that tha majority of the success was not organically built thru the draft, farm teams, G League

You called it, Joe. The mercenary "flavor" is strong LA.

How'd they get all those guys under the cap? Howard and Rondo must be workin' cheap...

and since I am all pot thoughted up I will ramble more

i think all, sport leagues in the US should expand and adapt the to European soccer league that replaces their weak teams every year with the champions of the smaller city teams in the other professional leagues. No more minor league, let the Buffaloes, Portland's support their own team that could work their way to the MLB, and take the teams that refuse to upgrade out of MLB,, and the same in other sports.

in adapting to a green planet it also works into employing more people in professional sports, tomorrow's economy needs to shift towards, sports, entertainment and recreation

Same way the Patriots do, the player (less pay) and owners buy the ship. And like baseball, basketball can go over a cap if they pay a penalty. So much like our tax code in the rich get richer

>Howard and Rondo<

Howard has burned bridges just about everywhere he has played,  the same with Rondo. Older players who are potential distractions generally don't command a large paycheck.

>>>>> tomorrow's economy needs to shift towards, sports, entertainment and recreation

What will folks stop spending their money on to put it more into entertainment?

Hopefully healthcare, cars, and with the ubundance of leagues a parent has an option of taking the family to see sports without spending a whole pay check as is now the case. The working class built these leagues in attending, gambling, viewership, and commercial support, now corporations and the upper middle class, the wealthy and single adults are the only ones that can afford a seat.

Gentrified sports

I refuse to watch gentrified sports! That's my new slogan. lol

Gentrification is systemic, but it does revitalize an area, usually it is the landlords that make the money and a small number of the lower class that actually still owned those homes and sell also benifitted. Can it be done in a non systemic way, and those are discussion that hopefully going to happen more in our government between the citizens and government. Without discussion there is no chance in improving a difficult or bad thing. A start is more equality in the ability to own a home, and not to have it take such a large part of your income to hold on to it.

But would a step up for a smaller city in a sports league also be considered regentrification? larger attendance and more economy around a downtown area, and more local advertising, leading to higher property values, more attraction to downtown living. Systemic? Still at this time I would say in most situations, yes

Oakland would benefit from a new artisan sport complex.

Start spreading the news

their leaving today

they wanted no part of it

New York New York!

and I see you jimmy buckets

THAT was baseball! And the irony of Brosseau dingin' Chapman is incredible.

The State currently dominating the sports world carries on (in spite of Nick Foles turning into Joe Montana for a minute).  ;-)

Wow, two great teams showing us why. 1 run game between the best teams in the division. Pitching so good you didn't want to miss one. Congrats Rays, you were the Yankee's daddy all year. A no market team with about 7 fans, wtf.  Ride that wave TB, make the al east proud. That fuckin Chapman bothers me

Earl, no worries with the bucs it is still the regular season, and the ship is built in November. it will be the defense that wins the ship this year, just like the last one. Brady just needs to be a bit better than Trent Dilfer. In the end Brady will get the credit, but like Gruden in the day, we all knew it was Dungy and the D that won it. Everyone loves a good poster boy

go gators!

<chomp <chomp

6 fans, counting Joe and I.

2020 Yankee payroll 114. M

2020 Rays payroll      29. M

Go small market.  ;-)

PS I'm positive Brady can be better than Brad Johnson, too.

The yanks got rasamanazed last night

https://youtu.be/wUY5zt1jB8A

just razzin ya ras

Earl, he does not even have to be that good, this defense is just coming together, and they are fast to the ball.

What a game last night... heat vs Lakers.

Butler and James both had great individual performances.  That flagrant 1 on Howard was just a typical playoff foul, at least it used to be.

Odd little stat, heat scored 14 points on 3 possessions.  That flagrant 1 turned into a six point possession, and twice heat players were fouled attempting a 3... two 4 point possessions.

nothing short of amazing last night. Jimmy cemented himself in the lore of NBA history. Duncan Robinson....are you fucking kidding me!?!?! the gauge for me when sports is just exactly perfect is when goosebumps start popping up on my arms. that 4th quarter was nothing short of goosebumps mania. the dual in the last 2 minutes has to go down as a top ten moment in NBA finals history.

So who won? I was watching the rays yankees. And who's the fuckin numbnuts who scheduled these games on the same night ?

^Heat 111-108.

3-2 lakers.

Game 6 tomorrow night

i bet the nba will let the heat win another

^Heat 111-108.

3-2 lakers.

Game 6 tomorrow night

Butler 35 pts 12 reb 11 assists 5 steals 1blk

James 40pts 13 reb 7 assists 3 steals

man if i wasn't a lakers fan...

heat play HARD.

pro-atheletes should take note.

Go Rays!

Chin up, FL.  You've still got Meth, Bath Salts, Covid and Chlamydia.

A valiant series by the under-achieving Miami Heat- honestly did not have much time to watch them between amazing hockey and now baseball, but congrat's on a memorable season.

The Rays- absolutely scintillating.

^ (Kind of a douchey post there, Bluest. Wrong side of bed, or just wish you lived here?)

Seems like the Rays are WS bound after 3 very intense games against the cheating Astro's. Nobody feeling sorry for them- or Altuve...

The other high-end payroll team- LA- on the verge of underachieving and flopping out, setting up an all "SE Corner" Series. Straight from the Stanley Cup intensity to this has been a blast, although that 12:30 AM ending last night must have been rough on the East Coast working stiff.

Quit being a jerk, brian d.  You're just mad your pasty white ass doesn't tan well.

Hope you and all the Rays fans are enjoying the ride, Earl.  Digging the idea of a Southern Series.  Too bad these games are in the bubble as Atlanta-Tampa would qualify as a Freeway Series.  A buddy of mine who's from Tampa told me that these are the easiest World Series tickets to get in ages if you have an itch to go to Dallas.

Enjoyin' the ride massively, Dave, as the games have been so tight.

Interesting concept (assuming we finish Houston) going to Dallas, but I'll probably leave my lazy ass on the couch in HD, where it should be.

The Rays roll into The World Series...

Good morning from The New, New Titletown!

TB sports teams are on fire!

Relax sox fans, I got this ---

Hey Rays, you thought for a second there you were gonna pull a Yankees size failure,, well fuh ged a bou dit.

There's only room for one at the top of the alltime fail list.

Yankees Suck

Yankees Suck

We Rays folk, of the small-market little brother's of The AL East, are loving The Red Sox sucking in a royal way. May you stay in last place many moons.

6 used to be a Sox fan, but has bailed during their current decline.

>>6 used to be a Sox fan, but has bailed during their current decline.

FACT CHECK: This statement is only partially true.

6 did indeed used to be a Sox fan - however he had enough after they won the 2018 World Series and moved on from the sham MLB has evolveed into.

Earl used to have some partial cognition, but has currently declined into senility and dementia.
FACT CHECK: This statement is 100% accurate.

FACT: fair-weather, low-testosterone type fans bail and desert their teams when they suck.

FACT: partial cognition is a complement in my case. Thanks, old buddy.

Bring on another HIGH PAYROLL bunch of tofu-eater's tomorrow night. Any actual Dodger fans around here? (Caution: 6 may jump on your bandwagon).

>>FACT: fair-weather, low-testosterone type fans bail and desert their teams when they suck.

Fair weather? That's in Florida.

In Vermont it's pretty cold already and we had some snow in the hills over the weekend.

Now you may be an expert on low testosterone, though. That I'm not positive on.

Saw this headline this morning - apparently I am FAR from the only person who gave up watching baseball, Earl.

https://www.thewrap.com/world-series-game-1-least-watched-ever-dodgers-r...

The LEAST WATCHED World Series EVER.

I like the cap's as if we can't read... so, should I jump off a bridge, 6? Us baseball fans are moving right along without you.

Go back to your Yahtzee game, and maybe finish up some knitting tonight.

;-)

Oh my! "cap's" (sic)

Earl - where did I tell you what to do?

Jump off a bridge?

Heavens, no,

However, if you come to an overpass...

Essential :)

i bet redneck n alias the new sturgil album

After 3 less-intense than any of the Yankee or Astro series games, along comes one of the most exciting and bizarre finishes in WS history lat night.

The little-team-that-could now hangin' around for a best-of-three with the Goliath Dodgers... what a ride!

Great game last night.  Thought Arozarena was dead meat after he stumbled coming around third, and seconds later he was crawling across home plate for the winning run!

We got ourselves a Series.

Wow, what an ending. And what a game. I'm enjoying the series. Usually wait til the playoffs to watch baseball. Too boring.

Even though his Lightning whooped my Islanders, Earl's a nice guy and I've caught the bug for the Rays. Love seeing the little guys whoop on the big money teams.

But Earl, I'm drawing the line on the Bucs. NO WAY, bud!

Sorry, Slick- Brady, Gronk and Antonio Brown in a home-game TB Super Bowl---               coming to a TV screen near you soon!

Might as well keep it bizarre.  ;-)

any team i root for has a 75% chance of losing.

Turtle- need ya' to go HARD for LA tonight... thank you in advance.

Was hoping for a threesome, but once again that is out the equation

After the 4-series Stanley Cup intensity, straight to the Rays killer ride through MLB, I'm in sports-detox tonight.

I'll do my best to make it to the Buc's on MNF.

Okay - I may not watch sports anymore, but I've seen the headlines.
The Florida foursome is safely back to being a reference to a golf outing again.

Sorry, Earl - although I guess the Bucs are doing well?

Is Biden winning Florida?

those last few baseball games were pretty good drama.  Only bb games I watched this year.   Sports wo fans and with fake noise is too unsettling

Good guess, Sixer.  Or are you one of those $10. psychic's?

No psychic skills needed. My friends who are pats fans up here are all kinds of dejected and indicate that they are more excited about Brady and Gronk rejoined in Buc land more than they are in Cam Newton. Apparently there are many Tampa Bay fans in New England now. At least for Football.

I also heard the Giants won a game. A game. Man, they must suck.

Anyone up for the threesome?

go fla.!

Soooo- football history being made by Brady and the Buc's tonight. Love or hate the guy, you have to respect greatness. 10 SB appearances- highly unlikely that will ever happen again.

Just rained a while ago, and it looks to be warm and dry tonight- hopefully a classic and, of course, a Buc's win!

18 long years.........Bucs fans are cool and sure know how to party. Lets get it.
