Brian Auger's Oblivion Express at Fur Peace Ranch.

Damn fine band with deep credits.

A fine show it is!

I didn't recognize Alex Ligertwood.  Then again, haven't seen him since Go Ahead.

Wow. Brian Auger's Oblivion Express.

I haven't thought of or listened to them in a loooong time, but there was a time when I listened to that group often.

I first saw them opening for the Dixie Dregs in '78, and I bought this album the next day...

I banged away on my drums (and congas) to that album for quite a few years after that.

I always thought they'd be better without a singer.

Always a great group, but always in the in-between world of funk/fusion mixed with vocals to make it mainstream.

Fusion & vocals never work together.

IMO.

Nice post, it got me thinking of BA's Oblivion Express again.

(BTW, a GREAT name for a band!)

Agree lance. The music was incredible, really. I had to switch it off after three songs.

I was sort of stoked because this isn't music I've heard before but the vocals flat out ruined it for me.

I thought the vocals got better as the show went on.

I thought this was a fun set. I'd never heard of them before.

"Compared to What" at the end was the highlight for me.

"Season of the Witch" with Jorma was also fun.

I tuned in but didn't watch for long. The music was good, just not the pace I wanted.
