Once in the Santa Cruz Mts while mushrooming in a 2nd growth redwood forest I came upon a 100+ year old redwood with a cavity in its trunk almost big enough for me to comfortably stand in.

Since it was raining I decided to take cover a smoke a bowl. After lighting up I decided to light the lighter and look above me inside the redwood. Staring back at me was a pod of 30 big brown bats looking down at me a mere feet above my head.

Thoughts of the movie The Lost Boys filled my head(the movie was filmed in and around Santa Cruz)

I quickly removed my self from the redwood and stumbled away from the tree and into a small grove filled with over 80 chanterelles!!  Knowing a gourmet chef I took them to him and he made pizza with some of them.
