Hitchcock's The Birds

Forums:

Scary good freakin movie!

I remember this movie coming on ALOT when i was a kid...CBS id guess...Saturday pm s at 1130, it was in heavy rotation w a few others (a night to remember, the great escape, fantastic voyage , to name a few), and ill never forget lying under the covers wanting to turn off the tv, but, of course, with no remote control ,lol, no freaking way was i getting out of bed!

What other movies do you remember watching late night, back when it was The Movie Of The Week!???

For a kid growing up playing in the Florida swamps, 1972's "Frogs" was the freakiest of those revenge of nature movies:

In addition to the titular creatures, this film had all sorts of other creepy crawlies, including snakes, alligators, a giant snapping turtle, and even killer geckos.

I was watching NBC - Saturday night live at that hour on day, in that era.

Are you sure you were watching CBS on a Saturday night!

Burnt offerings, 2 betty Davis flicks and the Blob

Watched many movies on ABCs 4:30 movies after school, while my parents were still at work.

I was a doorlatch baby

Where is schnee?

Gone with the wind took 7 days to finish. ..

Ya, BL, this was pre SNL...as im an old man....prob 1968-74... id have been 8-14 yrs old etc....def. CBS Movie Of The Week!

Birds is a great movie.

68 to 74 would have had the magnificent seven, bullet, 7 UPs, on the waterfront, great escape,  sound of music, mr. Roberts, and a handful of very good independent fiilms.

SNL was NBC

Don't be afraid of the dark with evil spirits in a capped off pit in the basement...I was 6......HOLY FUCK I couldn't sleep for years.

A couple of friends of mine saw it too and they also were freaked out.

We rented it about 2 years ago to see how scary it was........it was cheesy lame can't believe it even scared me.

What grateful dead show would pair up well with Birds

Second set

it's the end of the world!!

There was a couple of vampire movies that scared me. Count Yorga Vampire and Count Yorga Returns.

Wasn't real scary but when it's on I still enjoy Roman Polanski's, The Fearless Vampire Killers or Pardon Me Your Teeth Are in My Neck.

A little earlier this week, someone sold me 4 mono copies of The Beatles Revolver album, which I listened to one a day for the last four days.

Every time I hear Tomorrow Never Knows, I think about how it evokes Hitchcock's The Birds.

The Killer Shrews

^^^^

Seen that one 3 times on the Comet network, great camp.  The escape to safety at the end under that metal shield is classic with the giant Shrews trying to get under it.

Willard is back on Showtime/Encore, saw that one at the theater

Empire of the Ants with Joan Collins is good for a laugh or two, Them with James Whitmore in a 4 star ant flick

Burnt Offerings has a great cast, Oliver Reed, very sexy Karen Black, and Burgess Meredith.  Parents wouldn't let me go see it.

If you like Frogs, check out Worms, another one Comet turned me on to.

>>>>Empire of the Ants

Saw that at the drive in with my family as a double feature with Escape from the Planet of the Apes.  Our car caught fire and we all had to jump out, but somehow, we still managed to drive it home.
