Jeopardy Guest Hosts

Forums:

Ken Jennings is certainly a legend with the Jeopardy ranks but there's just a bit lacking in his hosting abilities. He's more than capable for sure but has a bit a weeny personality with very little gravitas. His attempts at humor (which OK we're talking Jeopardy humor) fall flat and he just doesn't command the room. You either have IT or you don't.

6.2 out of 10 in my scorecard. Maybe 6.4 if I'm being generous.

I'll be interested to see how the other guest hosts stack up.

Ken is doing much better than in beginning. He's growing on me. I give him a 9. Big shoes to fill, and he's standing tall.

I want to see Blossom. She might have what it takes for this show.

Is Brad Rutter getting a week?

he's a softie...lets too many things slide

Like ken on jeopardy, wana rip his lungs out on master minds

Have any other hosts been announced? Fun fact: I used to pretend I was sick as a kid so I could stay home and watch Jeopardy (with Art Fleming as host at that time)

from the Jeopardy site

>Dr. Mehmet Oz, Anderson Cooper, Savannah Guthrie, and Dr. Sanjay Gupta have been added to the roster of Jeopardy! guest hosts that will step up to the lectern to support a charity of their choice this season.

As a part of each guest host’s appearance, a donation will be made to a charity of their choice. The amount donated will equal the cumulative winnings of the contestants that compete during the weeks they serve as guest host.

“We look forward to each guest host bringing their unique abilities to the show and to our contestants winning a lot of money that we can match for charity,” said Jeopardy! Executive Producer Mike Richards.

Jeopardy!’s Greatest of All Time and consulting producer Ken Jennings is currently acting as host. His run will be followed by Executive Producer Mike Richards stepping behind the podium. Katie Couric, Aaron Rodgers, Bill Whitaker and Mayim Bialik will also serve as guest hosts for charity throughout the season.

Thank you Nancy!

Will Farrell. Game; on!

>>>he's a softie...lets too many things slide

Does he?   I think the judges correct him if he's wrong?

I don't think he's great or bad but I'm fine with giving him a year at it before judging.   Honestly feel like he's done pretty well with it all things considered.   A bit more cheese than I prefer but oh well

I wish Chuck was still around. He could have injected some much needed hijinx into the format.

New host reminds me of SNL's Phil Hartman, just feels like I'm watching a skit.

^^^^^i agree. I think Ken Jennings is better (so far)

Mike Richards has been markedly better than Jennings to my eyes, at least during his first week. He's adept at creating authentic narratives throughout the episodes, perhaps drafting a little too much around Alex's style but probably not intentionally. Not sure he is even interested in hosting the show long term but he's good.

Given how well both Jennings and Richards have done so far, I'm getting the impression that hosting Jeopardy is somewhat easier than previously imagined. The editing is super slick.

Richards just seems like a thicker Jennings.

Can we get Keith Richards instead?

Katie Couric. Ouch...bordering on brutal.

No flow, everything forced, weird stabs at humor. Comes across as someone who is more comfortable reading off a monitor.

See, and I liked listening to her. No matter, it's only temporary..

Not a Katie fan,, too much fake fuckin' sumthin, not sure what. Everything I think

I would put a vote in for Kiefer

Yes, Katie has no flow - and the last guy was like a living 3D Simpsons character - and Ken Jennings has been the best so far, but even he was a bit too annoying (good contestant, but not really a host).

Seriously none of them will ever be Alex, so...whatever....I guess I would be somewhat interested in seeing Holzhauer as host.

Will Farrell. Game; on!>>>
Put Darrell Hammond as a player doing his Sean Connery......

For some reason, Hammond’s Connery character is very crude, especially when it comes to the topic of “Trebek’s” mother. It’s never more apparent than in a 1998 episode, when the Connery character attempts to answer a very, very easy question: “What sound does a doggy make?” “Connery” buzzes in to answer, “Moo.” When he is told he’s wrong, he says in a matter-of-fact manner, “Well, that’s the sound your mother makes.”

They should get Snoop Dog in the mix.. the last guy was terrible you would think the producer of the show would do better or know better

Sturgill would do a good job

as would beetlejuice from howard

They should get Snoop Dog in the mix.. <<<<<

Black Jeopardy has already been attempted.

Yikes, Dr Oz is indeed terrible.

It's going to be a long two weeks.

I though DR Oz was better than Katie. Let's give him a few days.

I missed last night but saw him tonight. So, for me, Oz was adequate but had the vibe of a substitute teacher.

If they got Bob Weir they could make it a two hour show.

I had to look up who Mike Richards is, but Keith Richards would be an interesting choice, too.

I just wish they would just have LeVar Burton host and be done with guests hosts.

Although I would be interested to see James Holzhauer get a chance - but he is apparently not on the guest host list at this time.

Tune in tonite to watch  the 'Minion' look a like contestant

I have a friend named Kevin who was on. It airs on the 30 or 31st.

Aaron Rodgers starts tonight. An interesting call.

I'd have to imagine he's going to shine in comparison to the ship wrecks of Dr Oz and Katie Couric.

We will see.

I'd like to see Aaron take this in a new direction and throw football bullets at the contestants for every wrong answer.

This is not going to be easy money while I'm here type of attitude.

I'm sure Aaron Rogers, like many NFL QBs, has an IQ of 140, but I'm having a hard time believing that he knows any of the questions. I know that it's just some lame stereotype of jocks, but I want to believe that my Jeopardy host knows a lot of trivia.

Aaron is a bit of a slow monotone speaker. Gonna be difficult to clear the board at this pace

Aaron Rogers was 100 % better to watch than creepy Dr. Oz

So far I score it:

Jennings 8

Simpsons-esque looking producer guy 4

Couric 5

Oz 2

Rogers 6

I know, JP, I admitted that it was a lame stereotype. His IQ is over 130, and he scored 35 on the Wonderlic Test, which puts him in the 96th percentile. The guy has smarts.

Has he hollered out "319 !  319!" yet?

>Aaron Rogers was 100 % better to watch than creepy Dr. Oz

True, but that's an awfully low bar

A very low bar, true dat.

And I guess - by the way I ranked them - Rogers is 200% better than Dr. Oz. lol

My ratings:

Jennings 7

Simpsons-esque looking producer guy 8

Couric 5

Oz 1

Rodgers 4

Was reading all the stuff about how Rodgers was estranged from his family.   Curious stuff.

Rodgers has been smooth and easy going. A high likability index that he sometimes struggles with in his core profession.

LeVar Burton has a petition going to be Jeopardy host.

Rodgers is monotonic and boring.

I'd like to see them mix it up with some "wild and crazy" guy or gal.

Mavis Staples would make a great host.

Ron Jeremy might a real hoot if he's not too busy.

>>>>>Mavis Staples would make a great host.

For that matter, how about Dylan?

Ian Michael Black would be an excellent choice but perhaps too far outside the Hollywood establishment to be considered.

>>>>For that matter, how about Dylan?

Dylan would ramble too much. The show would be 97 minutes long and only halfway done.

Randy Quaid

Another boring white guy.

Steve Parrish would make a great host.

Tom Waits would be great as well

Anderson was capable, as expected. Neither great, nor poor. He's just Anderson Cooper.

>This is “Jeopardy!” — with your host,

LeVar Burton

.

After a social media campaign to get Burton, a star of “Reading Rainbow” and “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” into a guest-host slot on “Jeopardy!,” the show announced that he would step up in the last week of July.

LeVar Burton should be a great fit.  Great combination of wits and charm.

Wonder if he will get written into the "Picard" series?  Just watched Season 1 and really enjoyed it.  Nice to get the cameos from Data, Deanna Troi and Will Riker in Season 1, and they gave Seven of Nine a prominent role.  It's been reported that Q and Guinan are appearing in Season 2.  Burton's Geordi La Forge, and Worf and Doctor Beverly Crusher could potentially turn up in Season 3.

Saw that along with 3 news anchors, Joe Buck is getting a turn in this round of Jeopardy hosts.  Good lord, no!  It would be like back when Broncos fans were throwing bricks at TV sets when Howard Cosell was on.

I believe nobody has won 4x in a row since Alex left, which is pretty unusual. That may change this evening. The current champ seems pretty well rounded.

I thought Anderson was way better than Rodgers.  Made some nice little jokes.   He also has a funny little pause after the contestants answer where you wonder if they were wrong.

I like the idea of Jeff Tweedy hosting.   Dude would keep it lively.

Anderson is smooth - really doing a great job.

Blossom is doing a bang-up job. I think she may be my favorite so far.

Yep. She actually seems alive.

Agreed, she's the best so far. A natural.

And Savannah for the win!

Funny, adorable, on point  and wicked smart

Meh.
