KVHW 11-27-99 Quixote's Denver, CO

Forums:

Enjoy! Att his point, KVHW had a lot of internal tension  (which manifested as really good music) and the band had about a month left.

(Audio is really mixed well. If you have anything sucky to do today, put this on in the background and you will get thru your project with a smile.)

Set 1: Bad Hair, From The Bass Up, Nine, Ring Around The Moon, Nine, Poonk, Express Yourself, Poonk, If You Only Knew, Footprints

Set 2: (Missing a few songs) Point Of No Return, Mr. Potato Head, E: It's Up To You, City Of Tiny Lights

I think Quixote's was still out on east Colfax at this point, prior to their move to So. Broadway.

I listened to this like two days ago, it's excellent. There are a few KVHW gigs on YouTube, they're all great.

Alan, why did this band break up?

Interpersonal difficulties exacerbated by Ray White's drug / mental health challenges (i.e, it was never certain he would show up towards the end). Plus, Kimock and Vega had a longstanding cantankerous (yet fruitful) relationship.

And Kimock's career was evolving quickly at this time (after 15 years with the comparatively then-stagnant Zero and time in the Dead orbit) and I'm guessing he wanted to be the boss of his own band /  more in charge of his own fate.

Thanks. I had only seen zero by 1999, I'm not sure I even knew about this band at the time, mostly because they didn't come around where I lived, and didn't read relix very often or have internet yet. Since then it's become some of my favorite kimock-centric music. Sure was cool to catch ray a few times on Zappa plays Zappa tour some years ago.
