All pro sports seasons are suspended.

This was announced a few minutes ago, so Greg was incorrect.

Now however, THE MASTERS IS OFF. Enjoy your April 9-12. Enjoy!

Golf isn't a sport.

That's an argument as well! TY iGor

The main point is that the Masters, whether it's a sport or not, is off. It's not happening. :(

Wait, are we stating the previously stated? I can do that right now I'm doing it.

What was previously stated was premature.

We shouldn't lose sight of the fact that the Masters golf tournament is off. Not just no women, no blacks and no Jews this year - no tournament at all.

I'm gonna miss the views.

Every camera angle of the course with all the rhododendrons and azaleas in bloom, it really is heaven on earth.

That's a bummer, hope this gets straightened out before the fall. If we miss football season, that would be a shame.

Here are some highlights from last year, which was epic: https://youtu.be/UzRmUq2KfkU

Not cancelled.  Just postponed. They'll be back in Augusta soon. Maybe Memorial Day weekend?

BTW, with everything being cancelled, how do YOU spell the word cancelled?

One L or two L's?

^ The tough thing is there's a tournament scheduled every weekend. They might be able replace a lower tier tourney like that one in West Virginia.

No one said it was canceled with one L

At least there some positive aspects to this.

Maybe they can build some affordable housing on all that land.

Play has resumed.

well, things are back to normal for some folk, I guess

you still golfing slack?

We've only walked around the course and hit balls on the range since March.

good on ya

Some very low scores being posted.

Dustin Johnson's got his sights on the course record.

Enjoying seeing the course with the Autumn colors and no spectators.

Bernhard beat Bryson!

Did you see this hole in one during practice? A little magic?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ni6E7L7XeKA

He wasn't hitting from the tee box.

What's a tee box? Regardless, it was a pretty magical thing to skip across the water and find its way to the hole.

I get the history and the pageantry and the bla bla bla of The Masters, but in the end it's really not that difficult a course for these guys to play.

20 under par?

That's way too easy, especially for a "major", and it's boring to watch.

Having no fans there almost certainly makes it easier to deal with the course & the pressure of the moment, but the scores at The Masters are always low.

I usually watch because it's such a big deal to the players, so there is usually drama involved, but for a demonstration of elite skills you can have the low scores, the endless syrupy, solemn piano music and all the Jim Nance cloying, hand-wringy jibber-jabber of The Mehsters.

For real tension and to watch the very best in the world handling huge pressure when the course ISN'T easy, give me the US Open (where the players ALWAYS whine about the greens & rough) and the British Open (where the elements almost always fuck with the players).

I understand that The Masters is a big deal, but for true brilliance it always seems more pomp than real circumstance to me.

It was poetic justice to watch Bryson melt down like that, after all his tough talk.

>>and it's boring to watch.

Unlike, say - Sleepy Joe Baseball?

lol

It's weird that you would only be entertained by someone failing.

Just because that's what I chose to comment on doesn't mean that's the "only" thing that entertained me...

I enjoyed the whole deal.

Great that an amateur could play with Woods 3 of the four rounds and out score him. He'll never forget that.

Lots of good play/stories this time around.

I meant Lance only liking US Open rough and greens and guys making 7s and 8s.

Yes, that not what this tournament is about.

You should get back out and play. Talk about easy social distancing!

The low scores were enhanced by the softer greens that were a byproduct of the tournament being played in November this year after more rain had fallen than when it's usually played in Spring.  Augusta is also a more familiar course than the Open courses are to the pros, as they play it annually instead of sporadically.  Jim Nance's soporific hosting aside, Augusta does have a lot of history, traditions and character that makes it a unique stop on the PGA Tour.

4 shot leads make any tournament less dramatic.

Was D.J. the first person to win a Green Jacket sporting a full beard?  Don't see too many bearded players in the PGA.

Dave - your post two posts up is spot on.

I'm not sure if there has ever been a bearded champ before.
