I just read that they're releasing an album in February and must be touring.

They're playing the Fillmore in SF on 2/3.

^^^Yep yep, just saw that on the Kimock Insta account... tickets on sale for SF on 10/29 too.

Great images on their new website....

I'm a bad Zero fan. How long have Melvin and Pete been part of the band?

That Fillmore show looks very tempting. It's a Thursday night, but it's the week before my spring semester starts.

^^^^ GTTS!   You won't be sorry.

Don't know how long that lineup has been in place, but I did see that same crew at Oregon Country Fair in 2019.

Pretty sure Pete is an original Zero collaborator. Melvin is a new member to Zero specifically, but has played with several iterations of Steve's other bands over the years.

<Pretty sure Pete is an original Zero collaborator>

no.... Kimock and Anton are the only original members left. Even Martin Fierro, the character most often associated with Zero besides Kimock, isn't an original member. Neither is Bobby Vega.

05/05/1992 Line-up : Steve Kimock, Martin Fierro, Greg Anton, Judge Murphy, Pete Sears, Bobby Vega

Truth is there are a *lot* of other players sprinkled in and amongst all of those lineups across most all of those years and in more recent times as well.

Clearly it is Greg and Steve's baby.

Beyond the principals I guess I've always looked at Zero as more of a musical collective than a "band".

can't we all just samba?

^ there were a lot of Zero eras -- and a lot of local Bay area musicians to call upon when needed. For instance, I seem to remember Bobby Vega got a paying gig with Tower of Power or someone (Zero was always broke, always almost making it big) the band rotated thru several bass players for a long while, including:

14/10/1992 Line-up : Steve Kimock, Martin Fierro, Greg Anton, Judge Murphy, Pete Sears, John Kahn, Nicky Hopkins

There were also many sit ins and special guests who showed up repeatedly thru the years (like a Merl Saunders).

<musical collective than a "band".>

yeah it seemed that way with all the coming and goings. Always a good time.

Would love to catch a Zero show!

>>>>“The band revolves around two remarkable musicians; guitarist Steve Kimock and drummer Greg Anton, composers of the band's music and the sparkplugs driving the band's improvisational rock.”

That Joel Selvin?

“The band revolves around two remarkable musicians; guitarist Steve Kimock and drummer Greg Anton, composers of the band's music and the sparkplugs driving the band's improvisational rock.”

That's as may be, but I'm going for Peteyes

Saw Zero several times with Chip Roland on keys; don't remember which year(s).

Hope this version makes it to Oregon this tour.

We use to slay those midweek runs at the Great American mid-90's. I may not have seen the band since.

It was the only time I ever saw Robert Hunter out in the wild. One of the evenings he was leaning up against a wall by himself, maybe three storefronts down, casually flipping through some wrinkled yellow notepad sheets. Lyrics for the band one would assume.

Nice to see Zero coming East,

Also really enjoyed KVHW when they came around to the Wetlands back in the day.

I miss Martin

reminds me of banyan...as a rotating cast.

fillmore is day after bday, looks fun.

Anybody see tix on sale for this?  I don't.

I was talking Cap.

I'm guessing the contracts aren't signed.

Heard the Cap show might not happen.

Beacon on a weekend works better for me, actually.  Maybe that'll happen.  Or maybe both are too much capacity?

Shit. I'd even go to Terminal 5 for some East Coast Pete Sears.

thanks for the heads up Voodoo -- I'll be sure to give this a listen today

I first saw Zero to go see John Cipolllina when I first moved here in 1985. I was surprised the "other guitarist" was really driving the band and was quite good LOL! Been on board the Zero train ever since.

The genesis was when Kimock and Anton went into a studio and recorded Absolute Zero after Heart of Gold Band ended, creating the basic Zero instrumental repertoire.

I don't travel for shows anymore but this would be tempting if I was.

Hope they do a decent tour in the spring when the weather is warmer.   Heading to NY in February .....no thanks

Would love to see this lineup.
