NYCH 2018 Fresno shows in a week or so...

Just announced? Fresno gets all the small NYCH shows...

Anybody have the event password to buy tickets?

If anyone figures it out please let us know!

Place looks pretty cool, seats 2100. Maybe give them a call for a hail mary password attempt. or use the password above (it works, wish I could go).

http://warnors.org/venues/warnors-theatre/#!

Thanks Scott.

And you also across. Wife is trying right now.

No rehearsals...I saw Neil with Crazy horse at the old Boston Garden in 1991 or so. Those were the days. I thought he was old then, now I think I am old!

Thanks for the password Scott.

I'm sure I'll regret this, but I had 4 in the cart for each night and dumped them.  Getting to Fresno next Tuesday and Wednesday on the fly seemed to be a push, even for what is sure to be a historic and great night.

Such great news that the Horse is back.  Hopefully, more dates will be added.

I’m with you, Herbal Dave. I pulled good seats but threw them back, too, and will likely regret it. Fresno in a week just doesn’t seem possible.  Hoping more dates will surface...

Damn, I have tickets for game 3 of the Sharks-Golden Knights playoff game, but the date isn’t announced,. Need to pass on Neil, even though I had 2nd row balcony in my cart.

I promise to try for tickets if they play within 100 miles from me.

Have fun, TH. Hometown shows are best!

Going to the first night. It's not the Old Princeton Landing but I think it'll do!

Thanks again to Across and Scott.

Any idea which Horses will actually be playing?

No way I can make these, but hopefully this isn't a one-off goof and they'll do more shows.

I'm not a fan of the Willie Family Band, it would be great to see him with even just one or two of the real Horses.

I wish I didn't have to work, really can't believe I'm missing this opportunity. Enjoy the show!

This is crazy is this real or a rip-of ?  got 2 for 2nd  E mail confirmed !

Damn, people in Fresno must not like Neil much or they don't know about these shows yet because there are TONS of good seats available.

I've been sitting here avoiding work for the past 45 minutes figuring out how I could make it to one of these shows, and damn it with some significant but doable effort I COULD make it to the first one, but I must be getting old because it all just seems like too much effort.

I guess I'll just water my lawn while you youngin's go to the show.

Breaking News - Neil Young has officially outlived his fanbase

Any tix under three digit$?

That threshold will thin the herd.

744 seats @86

floors 216/116

includes fees

I think Fresno is "thinning the herd".

And god damn it, I bought a ticket for the first night.

Now I have to figure out how to get to Fresno on a Tuesday night.

Shit.

(Far out!)

Fresno on a Tuesday is a quirky choice.  Anyone know of any connection for Neil or the Horse there?

Apparently, this is going to be an unrehearsed reunion, their first time playing together since the 2014 European Tour (which had Rick Rosas subbing for the injured Billy Talbot).  Pretty sure that Poncho and Ralph Molina will be there, and we'll see about Billy.

Cheers to all who are going.

Nils Lofgren to play with Neil & CH. Doubt it will be bass , he's known for keys & guitar - but who knows.

https://www.jambase.com/article/nils-lofgren-says-will-perform-neil-youn...

While I'm a huge fan I'm not what I would consider a Neil/CH connoisseur, but IMO the rhythm guitar player in that group is not nearly as important as Talbot & Molina are to the very unique sound that Crazy Horse makes with Neil, so while skeptical I'm hoping that both of those guys will be there and that Lofgren is the rhythm guitar player.

Box office has tix starting at noon, according to ABC30 midday news.

I'm in for May 2. Fresno on a Wednesday LOL, but I am there!

This makes the most sense.

Well I couldn’t get either night off from work unless I give up my day off on the 5th but that’s Cinco De Mylar and Psycho Genius is on the bill so that’s out.

I work at a craft beer place downtown.  Happy to serve beers at the employee price for pregaming Zoners.

[email protected] if anybody has general Fresno questions or wants to know the name of the bar I’m at.

^That's AWESOME, Timmy!

Well, sorry that you can't get out for the gig.

Yeah, pretty bummed but I don’t get a chance to play myself all that often so it was an easy choice.

Wish I had seen this yesterday, but managed to get 2 for the first.  Gonna be epic.

Sort of a hometown show for you, Mark. Sorry it wasn't a different day, TH.

Big fun to all!

Oh well looks like I am  in for Both Days !! See Everybody soon come. Might as well ...

Not sold out? whaa

Sharks play game 3 April 30 and  game 4 May 2

Nils Lofgren is subbing for Poncho, almost recreating the 1973 Santa Monica Flyers lineup (RIP Ben Keith).

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/neil-young-plots-new-crazy-horse...

Wow! Just hearing about this. I am stoked for those who get to see this. No doubt it’s going to be a killer show.

>> Sharks play game 3 April 30 and  game 4 May 2

Perfect, Sharks game on Monday, Fresno on Tuesday!  Both could be amazing or train wrecks, but both will be  unique.

I just saw a listing for May 5 NYCH show in Bakersfield.

https://www.songkick.com/concerts/33714114-neil-young-at-fox-theater?utm...

The Central Valley Tour?

Bakersfield on a Saturday beats Fresno on a Tuesday - for me, anyway!

Turns out my buddy can't make it.  So I have an extra 100.00 ticket for the first show.  Anyone interested?  Does not look like this show will sell out(unbelievable).

Finally a decent hometown show for me. See you there on the first night, send me an email if you want to pregame. [email protected]

I hear ya on the magic that is Crazy Horse but to put Lofgren in the rhythm guitar slot only negates the fact that his is the most talented guitarist of all of them.

Tuesday night's show will be live streamed at Neil Young Archives:

https://www.neilyoungarchives.com/#/news-article?id=CRAZY_HORSE_LIVESTRE...

Does anybody know whether Jonathan Richman will open the Fresno shows? I've seen differing reports.

>>>to put Lofgren in the rhythm guitar slot only negates the fact that his is the most talented guitarist of all of them<<<

Who cares about "talented"? It's greatness that counts. Neil may not be as talented a a guitar player as some, or many, but he is truly GREAT when he's tearing the roof off buildings with his unique blitzkrieg style.

One of the things I don't care for with Promise Of The Real playing with Neil is that Lucas Nelson takes solos from Neil; hopefully Nels, who I like (and who is leagues better than Nelson) won't do much of that.

There are many very talented guitarists who play very well crafted, interesting, impressive solos, but nobody plays a guitar solo like Neil Young, and those one-of-a-kind solos are the main reason why I go see Neil Young play.

https://www.relix.com/news/detail/neil_young_announces_additional_crazy_...

Read Young’s full statement below:

In Fresno California, Crazy Horse will return to the stage. Billy Talbot, Ralph Molina, Nils Lofgren and I will be playing for you in the Warnors Theater May 1 and 2 [Editor’s note: Young has since added a third show]. Also we are stoked to have Jonathan Richman, featuring Tommy Larkins on the drums, playing before us.

Looks like Jonathan Richman will open all the shows...

I haven't seen anything that contradicted that.....

The Warnors Theatre box office was clueless. I was told that Crazy Horse was opening for Neil Young. Also no information on a curfew...

LOLOL! I'm hoping if there is a curfew it's at least midnight...

While I agree with what you wrote, Nils taking over the lead guitar role is not what I was advocating. Neil's blitzkrieg style defines Crazy Horse and is essential to the sound. What I was saying is putting Nils in the rhythm guitar position ONLY would be a waste. With Nils' work with Springsteen, his best talent is to blend into the E Street Band and step up when appropriate and add texture when appropriate. Nils knows not to upstage or outplay the main man. What I do thing will happen is a few back and forth blitzkrieg moments that will elevate both players sound. It probably doesn't hurt that besides being past bandmates, Nils and Neil are best buds. I'm sure it will work out perfectly for all parties.

I also got lots of ??????? when I spoke with a pleasant young lady from the venue this morning.

She had no clue if there was an opening act, but then she did say that it was Neil Young and Crazy Horse, so she might have been trying to tell me that Crazy Horse was separate. Sigh. Kids today, what do they know? I did get an impression from something I saw somewhere that there will be an opener in Fresno.

She also couldn't say if the willcall aspect was going to be a regular willcall or the "you must go in immediately upon picking up your ticket/s" type deal, but she did say that willcall would open at 6:30 and doors were 7:00, which if accurate likely means I can pick up my ticket and go away. If there is an opening act, which I'm expecting, I can go watch the Warriors game somewhere and be back in time for the Real Show.

Either way, while I know they do shows at this venue I'm still expecting them to be a little (or more than a little) overwhelmed by these shows (like just one or two senior citizens working the willcall window, no line control, etc.) and if they are overwhelmed they'll be MOST overwhelmed at the first one, so I plan on being in line before 6:30.

I sure wish I was seeing more than just the first show of this little run, but I sure am glad I'm seeing at least one of the shows on this little run.

And Tony, I'm with you and I'm expecting Nels to take some leads, but for me personally when Neil is playing electric I prefer ONLY Neil to be soloing. That's one of the things I love about the Crazy Horse sound; that raw, heavy spareness without too much busyness going on, but with everything that is going on GOING ON!!!

I'm looking forward to this little mid-week vacation. See you freaks there!!!

Hopefully Neil's people are advising the theater on how to deal with the crowd. It's a reserved show, so the crowd should be mellow. The biggest question is the speed at which they manage to hand people their tickets.

Neil

rocking out

The bard of La Honda spastic monkey rock 'n' roll

mellow?????????

 That's not in my plan

>>>The biggest question is the speed at which they manage to hand people their tickets<<<

That is exactly what I'm talking about. I seriously doubt that Neil has "people" to help organize things these days, but even if he does I can still easily see the venue understaffed and geenerally unprepared for an all-willcall event.

>>>That's not in my plan<<<

I don't expect us old-timers to be rushing the gates or anything, but with goofy freaks like Jammin' Joel creating his usual brand of havoc I could definitely see the nice folk of Fresno getting a little jumpy.

Go easy on the locals JJ!

Getting excited.  Should be pulling into my brothers place around 4.   Be looking for you freaks at the show.

Live stream announced for tomorrow's (May 1st) Fresno opener at https://www.neilyoungarchives.com (must sign up or in with FB)

Guess they're really going out on an all-out limb with this. That's Neil.

OK, I just picked up my tickets and walked back to my hotel room.

Lots of people out front but a very groovy, low-key scene outside the venue. Fresno is a funky town but the theater looks really cool among the mostly dilapidated, seemingly forgotten buildings that make up downtown Fresno.

And I ran into felina at the willcall table! It was great catching up with him, he really is a very cool, heartfelt guy.

I sure do wish I could make more of these shows. Neil really knows how to find the bizarre, forgotten places that have soul to bring his circus, and I think this place is just one more.

Now I've got a cold beer and some nice Herradura with me while I watch some of the Warriors game before heading back to good ol' Warnors Theatre to see Neil Young & Crazy Horse.

FAR OUT!!!

In!

ps Thnx again to whom ever it was that turned me on to Livelist.com a few yrs ago!

Awesome Tom, enjoy! I’ll be there tomorrow!

Where the fuck is hoover is all I have to say.

Not sure the stage looks set up for an opener, but I could be wrong.

Oh right, thanks Lance.

For people on Facebook, Doug Clifton is streaming California Kind live now.

^^^^good to know thanks:)

Jonathon Richman is acoustic with a drummer, plenty of room up there for him.

We are ON. Go to main menu page for link.

Ground control to Major Thom ,,,,

Was that Mark D. sitting in the seat, the last guy he talked to before he went backstage?

Could someone please help me get to the broadcast?

Big Time!

Just go to neilyoungarchives.com, sign in to the site (email, password), and hit the link for the stream.  It showed up in the upper right of the homepage for me.

Totally cool. Totally Neil

Totally cool. Totally Neil

Nicey

So this whole show has been 1 uninterrupted shot right ?

Yes.

I feel like I'm one of the luckiest people on earth watching/listening to this.

Worth every penny

That was fantastic! Psyched to drive to Fresno tomorrow. Not surprised I’d have ever expected to say...

Wow! Those of you who went - wow!

And sweet to hear Greensleeves afterward.

Safe travels, everyone.

Neil looks trim and fit and sounds great. A few missed vocals and chords here and there from Billy, but it was (almost) classic CH, and Nils did well, despite a few flubs of his own.

The one camera thing was ok, but there was too much movement, too often. Sound was excellent with big bass.

That was great!  Thanks Neil Young and Crazy Horse.  Safe travels to everyone of you who went.

It's good to see the Horse out of the barn again.

Oh that was just fine.

Oh my.

And it's just the first show. They're just getting started, it will get better & better.

But it was Neil Young & Crazy Horse up there tonight. No one else.

It's been a long time since I've seen them.

Golly they were just great.

Like no one else.

That was just a little rock 'n roll, and even a little bit more.

BAM!!!

Please please do a few more of these remote, oddly placed shows.

(And nice to see such a good group of zoners)

GO TO THE DAMN SHOW!!!!!!!

Went over after work with a coworker and tried to sneak in the front and back with no success but heard Like A Hurricane on.  I think tonight I may slip in the catering entrance and see how far into the theater that’ll get me.

Met Jerry The Kid.  Nice to know I’m not the only Zoner in Fresno.

Looks like a great show!  Big Time!

Awesome, you know it was a kick ass show when Lance is at a semi-loss for words lol.

So how was the will call line?  Were they efficient getting people in?  And about what time did Neil come on (and was there an opener)?  Any recommendations for safe parking?

Anyone going Thursday?  (Timmy, balconys are only $69... )

Neil looks trim and fit and sounds great. A few missed vocals and chords here and there from Billy, but it was (almost) classic CH, and Nils did well, despite a few flubs of his own.

The one camera thing was ok, but there was too much movement, too often. Sound was excellent with big bass.

<<<<<<

Neil sounded great, but he was still the thickest member of the band.  Billy, Ralph and Nils all looked slimmer.  Gotta get Neil on the Jagger/Richards diet.  Phil lost a ton of weight, and it has to have helped his longevity.

The sound was pretty dialed in on the stream.  I had to refresh the page twice during the whole show when the stream froze, but experienced  no other interruptions.  Sure, the camera work was a little shakey at times, but, hey, it was a lot easier than having to get down to Fresno.  I thought they did a good job of giving you a feel for the Warnors Theater, with the roving footage.  The guy hosting the video seemed to not really know Neil that well, but handled what was probably a makeshift assignment decently.  It's funny seeing people showing off their buds.  This is what recreational cannabis looks like.

When I got there around 6:45 there was a mass of humanity in front of the venue, but it turned out that everyone was in various lines for either willcall or to get in. It looked like they had two or three different willcall lines based on last name. There was one person working each so it took a while, but it really wasn't too bad, I had to wait maybe ten minutes.

There was an opening act so after I got my ticket I went back to my hotel room to watch the first half of the Warriors game. I was told that Neil was supposed to start at 9:15 and I think he hit that mark right on. Sound in the room was good, it could have been a bit louder but that got better as the show went on and I expect it will be more dialed in tonight.

My only complaint about the venue is the bar lines were slow and they ran out of beer during intermission!!!

It looked like there was plenty of parking around the venue. MarkD said something about it being $6.00 where he parked.

Frenso is funky but everyone I've encountered has been really friendly. I'd come back to this place for another show if something really good was here.

Thanks for info...  really looking forward to this!

Will call looked kind of like a cluster but I went in at 8 o'clock with no waiting at all the opening act played for at least another 3040 minutes no one was paying much attention

Lance may be at a loss for words

I'll try

Un fucking believable tremendous awesome comes to mind

life is good

Guilty Dave. They actually interviewed me twice. Once when he first came out. I was in the A-D will call line.

What a great show. Really bummed not doing more of these shows. But off to TXR for David and Phil with Cal Kind.

Gotta run. More later.

So great that I'm considering Bakeresfield this weekend. HATED leaving Fresno today!

Words can't do it justice, but LLTD pretty much nailed it.

Excellent to see a bunch of Zoners and non-Zoners alike!

I’m here in Fresno and plan on heading to the venue to pick up tickets soon!

Has there been mention of a webcast tonight?

Don’t know. Hoping they play some different tunes tonight. Looking for Cowgirl in the Sand and Powderfinger.

Knowing Neil, he could fire up the webcast at the last second, and only make a vague announcement somewhere.

Then again, he might not want someone running around onstage with a camera, like last night - one less distraction.

What the...

Oh yeah, dude has the accent over the second "i"...

Find it here:

 http://mixlr.com/live/popular/

OK here we go

Country home don't cry no tears

same show

Neil always sticks to a pretty steady setlist, but I bet he'll mix it up a little bit.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him play The Loner or Powderfinger in place of Cinnamon Girl and Down By The River, Cowgirl In The Sand or Tonight's The Night instead of Hurricane or Cortez, and maybe one or two others.

This all sounds good.

"Only Love Can Break Your Heart", the first different tune than last night, and Chris has to head to the bar.  Sheesh.

That's better.

Well, I guess they didn't run out of wine tonight!

And the sativa seems to be working for that lady.

This is pretty funny.

I hope that guy realizes he's still live.

They played that last night.

It ended earlier last night.  Hopefully they go later tonight because I can’t get there till like 10:20.  Figured out how to get into the venue sans ticket last night.  Gorgeous theater.  Smelled like Ottos jacket in there.

The show was awesome! I figured after waking up in Fresno again Neil decided to add Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere to the set list ! ;) The theater is gorgeous although it could use some TLC. Had a great time. Round trip to Marin in 24 hours....I wish I could hit Bakersfield this weekend!

That's great Woz!  Glad you got to catch these. I'm a little envious, but the streams have been nice.

Hope you get in tonight Timmy.   Sounds like this has been a pretty cool event for Fresno.

If anybody is in the balcony tonight if you could lean on the handle of the door side stage (left side from audience perspective) around 10pm it might make my mission a little easier.  I think they cracked it last night because it was so smokey in the theater.

Anyone find a stream yet?

Thanks!!!

Winterlong sounding good.  Any surprises so far?

Thanks!!!

Winterlong sounding good.  Any surprises so far?

A friend at the show friend texted me that they opened with Love & Only Love.

Neil is mixing it up a little more tonight.

Jesus they sound good.

This group creates such a unique sound.

I love this group.

Thanks again, that sounded great.   They cut the jams on a couple of songs, especially on Cinnamon Girl, but they definitely are finding a groove.  Enjoying the couch tour so far.

I didn't hear the first few minutes, but I do believe they cut a few full songs, and shorter jams; the show tonight was a half-hour shorter than the first night and fifteen minutes shorter than last night.

But they did sound brilliant again.

Everything points to more NYCH shows, either (hopefully) more in smaller funky venues and/or more larger market venues.

I'd love to see two nights at the Oakland Fox.

Or better yet the Masonic in SF.

But I sure am glad I got to see one of these. It was slightly foolish and more than slightly irresponsible of me to dump some dough and bail out of work for a day & a half this week, but right around 9:30 on Tuesday night I was very happy with myself for the effort.

(I may have pulled a muscle in my shoulder patting myself on the back)

In my advancing years I sometimes have to remind myself to keep going to the show.

Tuesday night is the reason I still do.

LONG LIVE NEIL YOUNG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Long live rock 'n roll.

Anybody got tonight's setlist?

Hope the bustouts keep coming. Love to hear a Cowgirl in the Sand or a Powderfinger in Bakersfield tomorrow!

Always great to see Neil play (especially that black guitar), but an hour twenty f!#*in minute show? C'mon man!

Were the other 2 nights less than 2 hours as well?  If so, I can't understand all the praise.

kinda hatin' on 'ole Shakey right now...

Can't say as I approve of shorter lists and less jamming.

i thought the first night, although a little unrehearsed and shakey, was already a slightly older, tamer horse.

R they at least getting tighter and more confident?

hope they beef it up a tad for cinco de mayo.

Agree that a longer set would be most welcome. It was an 1hr45 the first night, 1hr30 the second. I'll take what I can get but definitely hoping for longer show tomorrow.

They sounded good enough, E, and there were moments where they definitely started to get me there, so you will for sure get at least a taste, but it's like if the good 'ole Grateful Dead came back to life and did a run (charging top dollar), but only played a single set (and it was a typical set one) each night.

It seriously felt like I had just seen a once famous band that's now resorting to playing two short shows a nights in Vegas ... I'm still scratching my head trying to figure it out.  I mean, has Neil totally lost it?  He made a comment about Vegas and also about how we were a 'select' group.  Is he so out of touch that he doesn't get that $200 for floor seats (and even the $69 I paid for balconys) for an hour and 15 minutes is a serious fleecing of his loyal fans, most of whom traveled to these shows?

Exactly, people r paying top dollar and traveling far for these.

can we at least get close to 2hrs of headliner?

{{{{Promise of a Real show}}}}

>>>it's like if the good 'ole Grateful Dead came back to life and did a run (charging top dollar), but only played a single set (and it was a typical set one) each night<<<

Naw, it's much more like if the good ol' played one short show and people cursed them and made final judgments based on that one show.

I was fully satisfied with my 1:45 show on Tuesday and thought it was pretty much right in line with what that band has done in the past. I definitely would have been disappointed with 1:15 and was surprised while listening to the stream, but Neil has never played epically long sets (and he ALWAYS charges top dollar) and this deal isn't the middle of a polished tour. Shows like this you buys your ticket and takes your chances.

Plus, Neil is 72 and Billy & Ralph are 74, and they're rocking it hard up there. Maybe they ran out of Depends last night.

Hell, I get 1:15 with Wayne Shorter or Charles Lloyd and I'm satisfied, and ultimately I would rather hear 1:15 of Neil with Crazy Horse than 2:00 of Neil with the Willie Family Band.

To those going this weekend, the challenge is to leave your expectations at the door and look to enjoy what it IS, not what it isn't.

But then that's ALWAYS the challenge.

^^

This. I thought Wednesday’s show was great, worth every penny and ounce of energy I put into making it there.

lol Woz, you pretty much say every show you attend is great.

Lance, glad short sets do it for ya... me, I'm done with that shit.

>>>Neil has never played epically long sets

Maybe not with CH since 1991, but when I saw him with POTR in Seattle in 2015, the show clocked at 2:50, with no setbreak nor anytime was Neil offstage.

Down By The River alone was 25 min. That's epic!

Epic was the DBTR in Memphis.  It was close to 40 minutes.

Lance makes a good point about the inherent quality of the performance.   Even if last night was like a shortened Spring Training start for a MLB ace, it was still a solid workout.  Overall, I'm pretty impressed with how they are shaking off the rust and getting in sync.  The first night was beyond expectations, and the second night got pretty psychedelic in spots, so a little easing up on the throttle on the 3rd night (which was an additional show than the originally announced two) isn't that surprising .

My guess is that a day off between Fresno and Bakersfield will let everyone recharge, and that Saturday night is going to be a little meatier show.  It will be interesting to see what tunes get added.  He's already played a lot of songs off albums Nils wasn't on originally, so the playbook is wide open.

Thanks for the links to the streams.  Been enjoying this.

> lol Woz, you pretty much say every show you attend is great. <

LOL! Well, at least I have a good time!

Maybe Woz just goes to great shows?

I certainly try too!

We have that in common.

How was the show last night?

There was a nice video stream of last night's show, and it was smokin', maybe the best so far. They added a couple of songs and played again around 1:50.

Bummer that the youtube videos of the first night in Fresno are now blocked. That night still had the longest jams, and so far I'd say that night and last night were the best of the four.

And not just because they've been the longest.

The Bakersfield thread has last night's set list.
