Do you get much money for him renting that space in your head?  Relax, bud. Is it possible to move on? Or e-mail him directly.

Ras is crushing hard on our resident wackadoodle troll. I see a beautiful future for them together.

I think he's trolling Mark.

Then troll Mark directly. No need to bring Nasty Namaste into play.

Why are there places named after Custer?

Because manifest destiny

Enough with the Bryen call out threads.

Yeah, sure Bss, but why would they memorialize a guy who made poor decisions that got him and his troops slaughtered?

Was this supposed to create some whitewashed myth of the virtuous European settler opposed to the cruel and savage Native American?  It didn't work.  I always revered Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse and the other chiefs and warriors in that battle, and always considered Custer to be an egotistical, impulsive idiot who was poorly suited for command.

I just don't get why anyone would want to live in Custer.  It would be like living in Loserville.

KInd of like the Confederate flag. It's the symbol of the losers in war and the Jim Crowe South. It's really only a good look on idiots.

I believe the reasoning falls somewhere along those lines, yes.  To basically paint Custer (as a metaphor for the USA) even in defeat, as having fought valiantly against the merciless savages, despite having been slaughtered (along with his two brothers).

Though I have never seen or held it myself, friends from the rosebud reservation have shown me photos of captured battle flag of the 7th, and said sometimes it is broken out and danced upon in ceremony.

How appropriate.

Sign as seen along HWY 18 thru pine ridge near Denby reads "Custer died for your sins"

makes one think

As an aside; the guidon of the 7th is the only American battle flag that has ever been lost.
