Phil-O-Ween At The Cap

.yes

yes.

Phuck Yeah Phil!!!!!

Phil has really gone to the dogs.

What is the closest hotel to the Cap?

woz My mom lives 20 mins away, lets have a party

Woz the Rye Marriott is the closest to the CAP, about a 1.5 miles away -- but I know of a cool AirBnb w/ firepit and yard -- it's an older home split into 3 separate units. Each unit is priced separately and likely a better price than the hotel. It's about a 15-20 minute walk down main street to the theater.

Basement, entrance via backyard, dark and stealth

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/50922778?guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_shar...

1st floor: Fanciest and sleeps 6 w/ deluxe kitchen, big living room and deck.

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/50912685?guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_shar...

2nd floor: Music theme vintage-style apartment with 2 bedrooms, living room and kitchen.

https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/34294009?guests=1&adults=1&s=67&unique_shar...

Wouldn't it be cool to fill it w/ Zoners?

Update on the AirBnBs above --

Basement and 2nd floor units are booked from the 29- Nov1 --  who got them before I did? ;)

1st floor is available, but because it's Philoween, price gouging is in play -- way too large a unit for just 2 people regardless.

For sure Deadheads are in the other units, though!

yes nice fire pit Lollo, hope to be there again lobsters at my moms house might be doable, checking my vacation plans at work tomorrow!

^^^ Zoner jam at Thomas' house? I'm in!

that could be fun! llollo... perhaps the night before the last run.....Rock On Phil!

Thanks! I had found it on the Marriott app and will be in town for the show on th 23rd. I'll be in Philadelphia the rest of the weekend for a wedding.

Thanks Thomas,  Not sure I can add on an additional night prior to show 1, but will consider that once I try for tickets.

However, if flying in for a run like this, it's always best to fly the day prior instead of the day of show 1... as we all know how flights get delayed and can cause a missed show 1!

Meant to add an update about how this remaining walking distance unit could work for Philoween weekend:

1st floor: Fanciest and sleeps 6 w/ deluxe kitchen, big living room and deck > https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/50912685?

If 6 people stayed there for 5 nights arriving 10/27, departing Nov 1, then it would work out to approximately $106 per night per person.

For a 5-night stay, a hotel room w/ 1 King or 2 Queen beds at the Rye Marriott (1.5 miles away) would be $149 per night + fees/tax... this is a special rate (available  until sold out) for their definition of a long stay.

For fewer nights, rate is running around $260/night.

Just thought others might appreciate this info as we get close to the ticket day later this week.

Hoping to be in for the Sat shows, might add the Sunday to the last run, gotta taste all flavors of Phil's choosen line-ups, see you freaks there!

When I was at the Cap for the Q the dogs were wandering around backstage. I wonder if that is the new house in Marin?

JKlowan, for weekend 3 Sunday is a day off, final show is Monday 10/31.

sunday sounds like a good Day off, to have a partay!

Go for it, but I'd actually prefer the 27th if there's enough people interested.

I'm protecting that Sunday for myself.

3 day runs, gotta rest up!

i heart phil

Another friends mystery. Getting old Phil.

Thanks Garyfish -- I was planning for Friday... hope I get lucky.

^^^*^ bump for presale alert... 5 min warning!

Giddy up. Lace those sneakers.

I'm in for all 3 Sat, I'll wait on the line-up announcements before adding a Fri or Sun for whichever line-up I like best.

Hope you all got what you needed, I also scored some really good RYAN ADAMS tickets for a Boston birthday show :), It has been a really good morning!!!!

Picked up a couple of floors for 10/14 and 10/29. I'll play that middle run by ear.

I'm in for first two Saturdays.  See you kids there

Trail OMG, I'm might see ya at a show, it has been way to damn long

I'm in for 10/23, got loge tickets

I'm taking a pass.

Pulled a pair halfway up the balcony for $300+.  Just said, "Nope."

Phil Bombs don't land up there, in my experience.  Two of my last three Cap balcony experiences were sub-par, in terms of sound quality.  They nailed it for Hot Tuna.  P&F and Oteil?  Not so much.

I'll buy the full stream package for about $120 and crank it through the big-ass 80s speakers. If it's anywhere near the sound quality of the Billy Strings Cap run streams, it'll be well worth it.

With a road-trip wedding and a birthday thing affecting the first two weekends, and running partners who can't handle the floor for four hours, it's a long shot.

Not ruling out rolling solo on a floor ticket come game time but not feeling the FOMO at this point.

I'll miss yas.

Got in for middle weekend.  Way easier than I thought for getting tix. I'm definitely ready for a road trip.

We're in for the first weekend. See some of you there!

Mom And I will be doing Halloweenie! again,if all goes well , she's 94

^^^ Yay!    Say hi to your mom, it was nice to meet her. I have a slightly-blurry-but-still-good photo of you two entering the CAP last year, hope I sent that to you. Let me know if not.

I'm in for the 28,29 & 31.  First time I'm coming back to the Cap since I moved away in early March 2020 pre Covid. Looking forward to this. Get to see my new granddaughter at the same time.  Hoping for the Q, but just happy to be seeing Phil live again. Hoping to some current and former zoners and hopefully  Roshambo will be there. It's been too many years since I've shared a show with her.

Hi Bob! Right now only in for 22nd but will look at Halloween weekend - hope to see you!

In Turkey trying to purchase tix for 10.28 & 10.29 (not 31, cannot make it leaving for London 11.2).  Did not go through.  Visa shut off card.  Will try again.  Hope to see everyone there.  Keep fingers crossed!!!  Now cannot access tixmaster, keeps thinking I am blog.

andy Ticket master wont let me in either, from my Tablet or phone, try using a pc.. or write the box office a little mail, folks there are Superbe! dont tell em I told ya though (~);)

lollo yeah send the photo! time to make some more memories!

i heart us

So there were rumors that one of the weekends for the October Cap run would be the Quintet, but the Mule now has shows all three of the weekends, so seems like that's ruled out: http://mule.net/upcoming-shows/

I will be there just for 10/31!!!

been way too long!

Buckle up, Zoners!:)

^^^
That's great to hear! Looking forward to seeing you. Been way too long indeedy!

bummer RO, I'm in for the Sat shows only, might add a friday but not sure. We'll I know you'll have a great time!!!

Given the "band camp" thing going on Halloween weekend, I think it's safe to say that Scofield and likely Robert Randolph are on the friends bill that weekend

https://www.rockcamp.com/fantasy-camp-relix-rock-camp.php

reminds me of the time Phil did this a while back with the show at SOB's with everyone in the camp and Phil walking around the club "greeting" everyone

Shapiro is doing interviews for his new book that came out this week and told Spin that he picked the lineups for the October Phil shows with Phil's approval. He named some members including Rick Mitarotonda from Goose and Billy Strings:

It’s a crucial part of this music living on that these older guys play with the newer crop of musicians inspired by them. Your Capitol Theatre residencies with Phil Lesh and a rotating roster of backing musicians might be the best example of that.

Oh, yeah. One of the best and most fortunate things I’ve ever gotten to do is work with Phil at the Cap. Phil is 82, but we’re doing nine more shows in October. He has trust in me to put the Phil & Friends lineups together, with his approval of course. Rick from Goose is going to play three nights with Phil on this run. I’ve tried to bring people like Billy Strings, Eric Krasno, Chris Robinson and Robert Randolph into this. I’m working on getting Marcus King on a Phil thing. Phil would rather play with newer, younger people.

https://www.spin.com/2022/08/peter-shapiro-the-music-never-stops-interview/

Rick Mitarotonda...nice call. The should be a fun run.

As Back 2 Back said: No PLQ this year at the Cap. Warren and Herring both have conflicting dates with Mule and Panic.

Not that the Q always needs to play these Cap runs, but just saying. Not this year. We can cross that off the list.

>>>I’ve tried to bring people like Billy Strings, Eric Krasno, Chris Robinson and Robert Randolph into this. I’m working on getting Marcus King on a Phil thing. Phil would rather play with newer, younger people.

Looks like Billy is available for the second weekend

The Billy Strings shows could be great, I enjoy his GD covers and his playing with Billy K. I'd be in for his shows.

I wonder if Marcus King can do "psychedelic jamming". Remember Larry McCray?

love to see phil n billy

ok Idky but I'm gonna go ahead and grab some other nights I get in the 26th...late

ok Idky but I'm gonna go ahead and grab some other nights I get in the 26th...late

it'll be here before we know it !

How late do the trains run back from Port Chester to Manhattan? If a show runs later, how doable and expensive would a taxi or ride share be?

On weekdays trains run twice an hour all night.  On weekends, there's 11:20pm, 12:19am and 1:15am trains from Port Chester to Grand Central.

Not sure what a ride share or taxi would be but it's about 30 miles.  Also not sure if Friday shows and Sunday shows use weekends or weekdays but I think Sunday after midnight is a weekday.

https://new.mta.info/document/90491

The shows I've attended have ended by 12:30ish, so the train has worked out.

Do you still have to present a negative COVID19 test for entry to the Cap?

Rules for the Phil run are different from other shows at the Cap>>>

The Event Organizer is requiring all attendees of this event to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 OR have received a negative COVID-19 test within 48-hours prior to entering the venue. These regulations will apply to all members of your party before they are allowed to entry to the event and to any users of the tickets purchased by you.

ATTENTION: PLEASE CHECK INDIVIDUAL SHOW PAGES FOR THE MOST UP-TO-DATE COVID-19 PROTOCOLS FOR YOUR EVENT.Updated: August 23, 2022

Per New York State health guidelines, proof of vaccination and/or a negative COVID-19 test is NOT required to enter The Capitol Theatre. However, some artists may require proof of vaccination or a negative test for their particular dates. Please check individual show pages for the most up-to-date COVID-19 protocols for your event.

So proof of full vaccination ~ 2 shots + booster should suffice.

I have got my ticket for Halloween. This will be my first ever East Coast show.

^^^ Sweet!   Good luck with the flights.

I wrote to the Cap a couple of days ago to nudge them about the lineup announcement, as last year that news was live by now.

They said they are "still figuring out the lineups"..... so I replied with: Just book Barry Sless for every weekend, or the same Barry lineup from Philoween 2016, at least. ;)

I will be flying in from Dublin on October 30 after a month in Europe, so suspect my frame of mind will be unique, but as always ready for Phil!

cool Roarshock I'll be Flying in from Lyon on the 26th after 30 years in Europe, Damn , I'm practically a socialist now... but yeah, like you say Always ready for Phil...

so I replied with: Just book Barry Sless for every weekend, or the same Barry lineup from Philoween 2016, at least. ;)

Barry is on tour then wtih WolfBob.

Billy Strings is a lock for the weekend of 21-23 and at least one weekend will feature Stu, Graham et al.

^^^ Thank you Woz, oh well, can ya blame me for dreaming on that 2016 lineup?  when Barry is in the mix, the shows have an extra sparkle.

> Billy Strings is a lock for the weekend of 21-23

Woz, I'm guessing you have that on good authority?

I checked his website and Billy has gigs the other weekends.  If he is going to play with Phil It would have to be the weekend of 21-23.

Woz, I'm guessing you have that on good authority?

Yes sir!

"I'll be Flying in from Lyon on the 26th after 30 years in Europe, Damn , I'm practically a socialist now..."

You must be doing something right.

Tomorrow's Friday - just sayin! ;)

Fine detective work, Woz!

^^^^ Agree!

The awesome part is that this meme was posted by Scofield on Insta, who scooped The CAP in their own lineup announcement.

Last year, lineups were announced around Labor Day..., very late this year.

...

ADDC1B15-3763-4D00-A510-B483E88D29CF.jpeg

The middle-run lineup is the most interesting but all three have their own merit.

Uhhh, I was told Billy Strings would be playing the middle weekend?

These lineups aren't great. Shapiro needs to be swinging for the fences during Phil's last few years (The Q, Trey & Trucks etc) not shopping in the bargain bin....

I'm surprised by the Marcus King choice.

Phil presently presides over a repertory-theatre-as-rock/jazz-band called "Phil and Friends."

- home > band > phil lesh (dead.net)

That's some of the best nonsense speak I've heard since Sarah Palin was interviewed by Katie Couric in 2008. Amazing.

>> Uhhh, I was told Billy Strings would be playing the middle weekend?

You'll get Goose and Trey's backup horns and you'll like it. I guess Medeski must be enjoying his time playing in and around these B-list bands. That's the big head-scratcher for me. Hard pass.

Marcus King. lol!

Some folks here, won’t call them out because we love our Zoners, but some here made some very bold predictions about these lineups based on their rock solid authority of sources, which did not pan out.

It’s always good to remember, you never really know. And if you do, you’re probably not saying anything about it before you’re supposed to.

Phil's Not So Horny Halloween Weekend

Yeah... simply can't say you have stuff on good authority just because that's the rumor going around and then be wrong.

Voodoo for the win!

What is the strategy here?  Doesn't Phil pay these musicians because it's his band?  Or has he turned over lineup strategy and artist $$ negotiations to Graham and Shappy?

Graham just posted on Insta that he's excited to play w/ friends new and old.

.....and I sure as hell would've posted about the Billy rumor if it came from a reliable source, anyone would have.... and that's what these threads are about, right?  LOL

Maybe this is supposed to be like ordering from a Chinese restaurant. You get two choices from column A, and one choice each from columns B and C.

Under that scenario, Scofield, Denson, Molo, Medeski, and Krasno could be interesting.

>>>>Yeah... simply can't say you have stuff on good authority just because that's the rumor going around and then be wrong.

Yeah....I'm pissed. Where's Stu? Where's et al? What I win?

Practically the entire TXR lineup is on that bill: Molitz, Koford, Crosby, Bluhm, Grahame, Leone. It's a veritable who's who list of TXR regulars

.....and I sure as hell would've posted about the Billy rumor if it came from a reliable source, anyone would have.... and that's what these threads are about, right?  LOL

That would be correct

ok, wow...glad i didn't pull the trigger.

.... yes, and it's understandable why they didn't announce these lineups on Friday like usual... it's like a Monday morning hangover announcement, LOL

They should be embarrassed charging hundreds for Alex Koford on drums. I'm sure he's a nice guy but a drummer he is not.

Goose guy weekend might be okay if he studies up and they rehearse a little with the horns, and the young Southerners and Krasno may be fun on the non-Dead music for Halloween. But on the whole, pretty much swing and a miss here.

WTF - No RMFJ listed/booked?!?

overpriced garbage as usual of late.....have fun suckers!

Well...

Feeling kind of like a ballon on the ceiling that slowly leaks it's helium and drifts to the floor.

I can cancel my AirBnb penalty free until tomorrow thank goodness.

It's hard to drop that much cash, time and energy for those lineups.

Grateful Phil is still playing but damn

 YMMV

Glad I went to some shows this summer...

Meanwhile, $15 tour coming through a town near you. Look forward to partying down with this Chris Forsyth Band and the lovely Meg Baird around Hallowe'en.

665.jpg

...friendz or acquaintances?

Tough crowd here today.  I'm going to the last three shows and while I am not a big Marcus King fan I expect it to be a great time with Phil and I'm sure excellent music will be played.  Maybe Billy Strings will be a surprise unannounced guest...I've been thinking it's just a matter of time before he plays with Phil.

I'd go to see anyone of those lineups in my local 'hood

just wouldn't travel to a distant shore to see it...

Go Philz!

Commenters on Phil's FB announcement suggesting Trey may be unannounced special guest for the second weekend, since it's the TAB horns and TAB is touring with Goose before and after. Seems plausible, but who knows.

https://www.facebook.com/phil.lesh/posts/pfbid0ubNA5K6st5Sv1ZnVgNViNtpXS...

Unless they're already sold out, holding up those 'big gun' announcements doesn't make much sense at this point...especially given the overall line-up "feedback". But for sure, yea, who knows.

And whoever knows probably ain’t saying.

Always enjoy seeing Phil, but I went big on stubhub just 2 days ago for the 'Billy Strings'  show on 10/22. Pretty pissed....

Guess I'm in the minority, Happy with all might look to add a Friday for that 1st weekend. YMMV happy to get one of each again this year!!!  I like phil ans Sco, wishing Molo was there that weekend but other than that I'm good.

If most feel this way my friday add should be a cheapie :), one man gathers what another one spills

While not thrilled. It's still Phil. I'm curious to hear what Daune Betts will contribute. Pretty sure we'll get some Allman Bros. stuff.

Krasno gonna be doing some heavy lifting.  some of those names may not know a full shows worth of Dead material.

Duane Betts + Krasno on Blue Sky and Liz Reed will probably be pretty ripping

I love an adventure

>>>>Duane Betts + Krasno on Blue Sky and Liz Reed

Krasno tore up Blue Sky and Liz Reed on Thursday with Oteil.  Seen Duane Betts do likewise with the Allman-Betts Band.

[From Reddit]: "I assume Phil is playing all of these?? As in Phil and those other folks? I just ask as 9 shows seems like a lot for him."

Oy vey!

Shappy plans on giving Phil a little break so he'll be rolling out the all new Philographix® over this run

I'll be rolling into the local funhouse for a 1,2 3 set of shows.
1 the first weekend, 2 the second, 3 the last.

Would have like to see Stu in the lineup,

Perhaps they'll have a hologram Stu and RMFJ.....

a RMFJ and BMFS would be dank

It's not important if you win or lose, It's who you play the game with. Right china rider? I THINK WE'RE IN FOR A BALL COMME Même

I no longer cross the country to go to shows, but I'd have no problem seeing any of these line-ups if they were close by.

When Phil is playing, the magic can happen no matter who else is in the band.

That said, I'd certainly prefer Molo over Koford.

^^^ Agree on all points, Surfdead and Thomas!

I want to have fun, and I want to soak up the Phil energy.

Right on Tom!

Each of these lineups are fully capable of and will produce some legit and full-on raging jams. All are seriously capable of getting that synergy we're looking for. Cap'n Phil at the helm!  And, for some reason, nobody is even mentioning that there is a Neville in the band on the first run!! If he decides to drive the train.... we're in for a treat.  TAB horns on the second run just might make your body move and gig like your forgot it could!  Sure, highly unlikely it's gonna be anything like the monster show in Bethel this summer but, get on the bus or get out of the way!!!!

Ivan Neville RULES. Love that guy.

Him and Scofield together should make for an unusual and fascinating mix. Might be the most interesting of the weekends.

Curious are the tix on sale now for the Phil shows more expensive than the original pre-sale? Seems they are. For example, a GA floor is $139. Was that the price at presale?

thx

The price on TM has not changed since pre-sale, if you're local then you can save $18 in fees per GA ticket by buying direct at the Cap box office for $121

Sweet. Only $121. Jeez.

>Perhaps they'll have a hologram Stu and RMFJ<

Nah, Graham already replaced them

thanks Ohr!

I can't do it. I cannot pay 200 plus for an unrehearsed mess.
Form a band and PRACTICE.
This is not a good final chapter

Unrehearsed mess? What?

Bunch of weird ole' cranky cranks up in here. Change your strain.

Psyched for Halloween!

Memorable Halloween shows I have attended.

1976 ~ The Tubes @ Concord Pavilion
1980 ~ The Police @ Oakland Auditorium
1983 ~ The Grateful Dead @ Marin Civic Auditorium
1984 ~ The Grateful Dead @ Berkeley Community Theater
1986 ~ Jerry Garcia Band/Kingfish with Bob Weir @ Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center
1991 ~ The Grateful Dead @ Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena (RIP Bill Graham)
1992 ~ Jerry Garcia Band/Vince and the Affordables @ Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena (Jerry's last comeback show)

Look forward to making new Halloween memories!

Listen to Phil's show from CT this summer. An absolute embarrassment to the man who has the accomplishments of Phil

It's a bad way to end a career. Form a group and rehearse. Either that or lower your prices by 75 percent. Otherwise, I'm out.

Be at the Cap Saturday for nick mason for sure

Monday night. Sorry

I dunno I saw 2 pretty fantastic Phil shows this summer.... Lafayette and Bethel.

I'll be at Nick in Buffalo on 10/9(Lennon's birthday). Tour starts in Boston tonight. Hopefully Interstellar Overdrive makes it back into the set list

Listen to Phil's show from CT this summer. An absolute embarrassment to the man who has the accomplishments of Phil<<<

I went to the show. The 2nd set was sublime and a great time was had by many.

Saucerful of Secrets should be great. I may try to hit that Cap show, schedule permitting.

Some of you grouches sound like my mom. She is continually shocked that everything costs a lot more than it did in 2002.

Hell, I went to Red's Java House yesterday for a late lunch. Cheese burger, fries, and a draft beer set me back nearly $40.

The problem with the world, we just can't afford people anymore.

"Practically the entire TXR lineup is on that bill"

"It's a veritable who's who list of TXR regulars"

Those folks have been playing the music and playing with Phil for "ten good solid years."

It was great being able to jump on the bus on no notice and ride up to San Rafael to hear Phil in the beach park in the late afternoon, and watch the sun go down, but now Terrapin Crossroads is in the past. Was it ever there at all?

Some of you don't like Scofield, but he has certainly put in time as a Friend, and is by no means a B list musician.

Sure, there's more gravitas to the line up when it includes people like Warren or Santana.

There's nobody better on drums than Molo. Phil, Stu, and Molo are as solid a core trio as any these days. Too bad no Stu for these shows.

The model of Phil and Friends has always been an eclectic and changing roster of musicians, some more famous than others, some more eccentric than others, and not all equally tight or far out. They have all been interesting and fun.

I have been to three Phil shows so far this year, Ventura, Frost, and Stern Grove, all different lineups, all fun, and none of them the Grateful Dead.

I walked away from all of them with a good Phil buzz, a direct connection to the music and the scene that has been informing my life for over 45 years.

Look forward to attending the show on Halloween.

TXR East

THIS!!! >>  Some of you grouches sound like my mom. She is continually shocked that everything costs a lot more than it did in 2002.

For those who are searching for tickets, check https://cashortrade.org/   first -- there are several sets on sale for different dates on this run, some below face.

Saw Bridgeport (Warren, Sco & Medeski) and Bethel (Levon's band) and they were great.

Neither was the Q but good solid shows.  The Major Dude is 82 y/o for Christ's sake,

He is still playing with good musicians and expects them to be able to step up. It's called jam banding for a reason.

Pissed about missing Billy Strings at the reported Billy Strings show (both of my kids have been Wow-ed by him), but confident that the rocket will hit the stratosphere

> Some of you grouches sound like my mom.

Ouch. Good one, Roarshock. lol

>>>It's a veritable who's who list of TXR regulars<<<

Actually, if you don't count Grahame, who plays with Phil all the time now, & Phil himself, there are only one or two "TxR regulars" in any of those lineups.

A few others made multiple appearances there over the years, but I wouldn't call Scofield, Krasno, Denson or Molitz regulars.

I guess Molo & Crosby count, but I don't think anyone is complaining about those two.

As for dissatisfaction with the lineups, unless it's the Hallowed Q or a close facsimile (or lately the bluegrass kid) there has always been a contingent on the black screen that complains.

These shows are definitely expensive, but most shows are these days. I'm guessing the Nick Mason show is similar in price, and that group & show will certainly be well-rehearsed. The difference is that while there will be flat spots, flubs & clams at the Phil shows, it's also very likely that there will be moments of true inspiration, you'll be surprised by some things and you won't know exactly what it will all sound like note-for-note before you walk in the door.

Different stokes.

^For sure and I mostly agree....but decent seats for Nick Mason in Santa Barbara at a small theater (Oct 26) can currently be had for $60 including online fees, probably less at the door day of. Nonethelss, Geat things happen with Phil on the stage.

Hell, I went to Red's Java House yesterday for a late lunch. Cheese burger, fries, and a draft beer set me back nearly $40.<<<

Jesus. I recall a Red's burger and a Bud long neck being $7.55. Granted it's been a while.

Actually, if you don't count Grahame....There are only one or two "TxR regulars".

He is in for every show, and is average as a singer & guitar player that knows GD music inside & out.  Alex Kofford's grade as a drummer is not even at that level.  For years I don't know why one of the world's best bass players would want to form a rhythm section with this guy.

Molo is no TFB regular, also he blows away Tony Leone as a drummer, making lineup #2 the one to see.  Always enjoyed Crosby's playing & singing, never a bad choice.  I heard from a friend about Goose & Marcus King 6 weeks ago, curious now where he got that info.

I would take any of these lineups over seeing Warren as a Phriend again.  Time to try something new, started w/Phil during Fall '99, but after another "Dead" tour in 2009 (The Snore 4), I was done with his sound.

Ticket prices have risen much faster than inflation because musicians don't sell records anymore.

A Grateful Dead ticket that was 10 bucks in 83 should not be 20 times more now for Deadco.

As far P and F, a rotating cast of musicians that stay and play together for awhile fostering chemistry is a great concept. Throwing musicians of any level together and expecting the results we have become accustomed to is very difficult.

I love Phil and I am eternally grateful for all the incredible moments but this final chapter is not great.

Phil can play with anyone he wants but to ask us to pay a lot of money for tickets and incidentals for what he's producing doesn't work for me.

Opinion and assholes...

Long Live The Grateful Dead

Looking for a GA Sun Oct 16th if anyone wants to unload one. Otherwise I will go to Ticketbastard, email in profile

Got my ticket for Sunday

>>>Molo is no TFB regular<<<

My comments were about Terrapin Crossroads regulars, not Family Band regulars, and especially towards the end Molo was a semi-regular at TxR.

And Grahame is an excellent rhythm guitar player in GD music. His leads are average at best but he usually doesn't take many. As he's grown as a player with his dad and especially with his own band he's improved, and IMO he's no longer a detriment when playing with Phil.

As for Koford, other than the Family Band Phil never used him in any of his bands at TxR or anywhere else, and he eventually moved him off the drums in the FB as well.

It's odd that he's using him in this larger setting, but Alex has been described to me as the Lesh family's 3rd son, so Phil is probably just giving him a good gig.

Personally I've never been a fan of Alex's drumming and I thought the Family Band improved when they moved him to guitar and just let him sing (he's actually an excellent singer) but I was also surprised when I saw him drumming with the Family Band a few months ago with Krasno & Melvin but without Phil. I hadn't seen him drum in a few years and I thought he was much improved. He was no great shakes, but he held his own, played with a bit more pop and wasn't a distraction or a noticeable weakness.

Still, I agree that there are many other drummers I'd rather see with Phil, but what are you gonna' do?

1 week to night 1 for me, really looking forward to the 1st run, hoping the weather stays the same, see ya freaks soon

Getting so hype for this Chris Forsyth / Meg Baird tour. His new album is fire.

Harpist Mikaela Davis  added to the 1st run

active tour talk is the shizz

Jill are u in for any of these?

Hey Now! I've got 4 tix to Phil this Friday, 10/14 for sale. We're still going but have extras. Balcony RC, Row C. Seats 1, 3, 5, 7. Will break up the set and sell any number of tix. Please make me an offer if interested. Hope to see you there!!

Opening night of a run is usually great!

But sold my tix cause something else came up... Koford just does not excite.

Remember there's a Ticket Folder, Starkdar. People do actually check it out.

I'll be there for the 28, and 31, might be stickin around for the band thingie, then might drive to pittsburg to see Billy MF strings on the 5th, lookin for a road trip partner, have to be back in Ct the 6th.. fly back to remulack the 9nth

Yay, glad you're arriving early, thanks Thomas!

I sent her the info for the trains..., you are in CT, she'll work it out... was just thinking there might be a Zoner who lives close to JFK and is driving up daily for the run or just for 10/31.

In other news, here's something to discuss.... Suggesting these options for Zoners to consider for pre-func #1 on Friday:

New brewery up Westchester Ave from CAP: https://randhbc.com/

Has anyone been there yet during runs 1 + 2?

or....

Bar Taco

or....

Oyster bar place that I went to w/ Merriweather Girl near Bar Taco.

or..,,
The Irish Pub from last year....

Any other new places that I'm not aware of?

I am getting even more excited for Halloween!

YAY for Roarshock!

Looking forward to meeting you,

Jeff found that place last weekend I think and gave it a good review

If anyone is heading to the Cap for 10/31 show from anywhere in the vicinity of JFK around that time - please lmk on here or email me from my profile please!

Can I actually make it via subway and train in time for the show?!?!

Anyone with more knowledge of that trip and how to do it, please post where I would need to go! Thanks for the help!

^^ download the free app!

~ 2 hrs by subway + train, or

40 minutes by taxi

Only in for Sat, I'd recommend Bar Taco, the new brewery doesn't have a kitchen

Thanks for the helpful info!

Let's meet up at Bar Taco on Saturday then, when you're here.

I'll call them about saving a large area around 4:45PM unless someone has a better timing idea.

It may be wise to skip a pre-func on Friday since people may be rushing to get to Port Chester, etc..

correction... wise to skip an *organized* pre-func on Friday

New brewery up Westchester Ave from CAP: https://randhbc.com/

This brewery is having a Halloween costume party on Sat if anyone is interested. It is owned by the dude who owed Coals on Main Street proir to the pandemic. He is building a new location across from the Cap but it is not ready yet. They have I think 5 beers on tap and a few app's on the menu if anyone is interested, very nice guy and a head, bumped into him Sat nite in GA

Just spoke with the Bar Taco manager -- he asked that I call back on Saturday around 3PM with a firmer headcount and they will set aside a space on the covered deck w/ heaters.

With that, who's in for fun at Bar Taco on Saturday around 4:30ish?   Note: they are cashless and have an app which makes it easier to order.  www.bartaco.com

Happy Halloween.

Does a picture of your COVID-19 vac card on your SMART phone satisfy the health check requirement for entry?

It should... I showed my Apple Wallet vaccine card and they took that. even tho it hasn't been updated w/ my latest booster.

They did slow down the line with bag searches and related questioning!

Ironic thing is I appear to have lost my paper vac card in Dublin, probably in the airport, but I searched my phone and found a picture of it! Nobody looks at paper documents much anymore anyway. As discussed in the "Mark of the Beast" thread, these days if you ain't got a SMART phone, you ain't shit. It's a contactless society.

I would think a photo would be accepted, but you could always call the CAP to pave the way in advance.

yes the photo will work I used mine each time, you'll need a license or passport as well that has the same name as the covod card

Thanks. Let's see some logo!

Let's see your ID!

But we wear Masks!

On my way.

I'm gonna go to the show. I will be looking for a ticket.
