That's swell!

Source?

Hey Mark...we moved to your old 'hood. 16th & Fillmore. LOVING IT.

Just saw it here:

Nice, Ned. I miss the old neighborhood.

Family Band and Salmon co-headliners

Pretty much confirms it's Family Band only from here on out, with maybe the exception of Cap Birthday?

Announcing Red Rocks 2018 with Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band! Make your plans for May 5th, 2018 and be sure to scoop up your tickets this FRIDAY at 10am MST. (Salmon Fan Club limited release tomorrow at 10am, look for the link here!)

Kentucky Derby that day, as well as Cinco de Mayo.

Race is On > Mexicali Blues.

I like the poster images. I wish some of the paisley didn't remind me of the designs on American paper money.

Why don't you like to be reminded of money, Judit?

That's swell!<<<

pork chops and apple sauce?

It didn’t look like money to me until I read Judit’s post. Now I can’t not see it that way.

i still get exited when i see a post titled something like "Phil at XXXXXX cool sounding big venue", and start thinking about possible travel plans before the thread even has time to load.

i should know better by now.

its been a good run i guess.

I'm seeing a weird take on the poster art for Romero's Dawn of the Dead.

i can play air guitar better than grahame lesh can play real guitar, because at least when i play air guitar you dont have to listen to alex koford's drumming

I'm just going to pretend I've never heard TFB and buy a ticket.

Fuck it. It's Phil.

in a nutshell ^

So... half full venue?

if he’s going to take the act out on the road (contrary to his official reason for retiring from the dead/furthur), can’t he at the very least amass a decent band of players that evoke excitement?

^no, phil's done. graham wanted to play red rocks, this is his gift.

Red Rocks In May can be really nice.

I know the Phil lineup isn't very exciting, but Leftover puts on a good shoe, so there's some value add there.

>no,phil's done I'm sure sure even ole Phil gets a little blood flow to his nanner playing at RR.

Fuck family band!!!  C'mon Phil!! Get some quality musicians to play Red Rocks.

I’m sure some guests will sit in w the family band....probably members of leftover....

>> if he’s going to take the act out on the road (contrary to his official reason for retiring from the dead/furthur)

Actual reason was "I'm not going to be in the same room as Billy for one more goddamn minute, I don't care how much money you guys are going to make with pretty boy and his fucking kimonos"

What did Billy do?

This family band shit is a joke.

Sorry Phil fluffers........

How about we turn this into an Old School Zoner Reunion?

That alone would be worth the travel and ticket costs.. just sayin' laugh

Phil, on a Saturday in May at Red Rocks?

Yup, that will sell out.

(No spot taken).

Why, Phil, Why?

Hope it doesn't rain on whoever goes to this.

Because Leftover on a Saturday in May at Red Rocks.

>> What did Billy do?

I don't have a specific story, that's just been the rumor for years, bad blood after the Dead 09 tour that continues

Maybe they argued about Handsy Franken.

Oh hells yeah!!. One more time at the Red Rocks with Phil?! Never thought I'd get the chance again. We will have to try hard to hit this one...hope  to see ya there...

I hope works for you and Lisa (and kids?) to go to this one, Canyon. Big fun ahead!

I’m in!

wish they would have given us more of a heads up

^ is that a fake presale?

... selecting reserved doesn't show an actual seat, just a range of rows.

I ordered, it looks real.

It is the Leftover Salmon FB presale. It is real. D’oh.

GA is sold out now.

https://www.facebook.com/leftoversalmon/?hc_ref=ARRv_hCXyDVWZ8NWx0UUV2M5...

FOM buying the exclusionary reserved seating, roping out the less fortunate....ironic.

"Fuck it. It's Phil."

Just what they're counting on a lot of people saying.

My-Borhters-kepper-good.jpg

No thanks.

Speck they'll add another night?

4th and 6th are open.

I'm kinda studying between RR and Wanee.

Never been to RR. Barely been to CO. Girlfriend graduated CSU.

Poster makes it look like it says "Chil" Lesh.

I was at TXR last Saturday night for Everyone Orchestra - and I gotta say - Grahame has significantly improved on guitar.

He took a bunch of robust, exciting solos with great tone and a lot of good ideas.

Just my opinion - but he's getting better before my eyes and ears.

Fuck it. It’s Phil.>>>>

That should be Phil’s new slogan. Right up on top the TXR websote

>>>Grahame has significantly improved on guitar...but he's getting better before my eyes and ears

remember the good old days when phil played in bands of real musicians, and wasnt charging people $80 a ticket to watch him teach his christian rock band looking kids to play the guitar???

^hahaaha.

^^^^We could put the band in touch with St. Mark.

He'll get that wardrobe shit straightened out in a San Francisco minute. ;)

I can't help Phil. Ryan Adams tried in '05, which is how we ended up with the unbuttoned-button up-over-a- t shirt-with-designer-jeans thing.

You should send Phil an undersized Pac-Man t-shirt.

I might. Maybe he'd consider growing a beard again?

>>> watch him teach his christian rock band looking kids

That's just staggeringly accurate

With the exception maybe of Ross MF James

Maybe they could put on some temp tats?

Midnight-North-Press-980x653.jpg

OK guys, we are Midnight North and welcome to the Teen Bible Expo 2017!!!

Are you guys ready to PRAISE GOD?????

I was going to go until checkout said $248 for a pair of ADA tix. Ummm I can't spend that for a night of music.

$50 just for "convenience" fees. I'd love to see Phil one more time but man......

Screenshot_20171208-102346_0.png

Holy shit. $99+ to see Phil & Leftover?

I thought tix were a tad cheaper.

>>>Holy shit. $99+ to see Phil & Leftover?

reg tickets are $55 but after fees thats about $80 each as the cheapest ticket.

I dont ever remember paying more than $60, including fees, for Furthur in smaller venues, with what I assume is a larger road crew for tours, Bob taking his cut, and more expensive musicians in the band...y'all have fun funding the Lesh brothers nest egg now.

In Christian rock band terms, I guess you could just consider it tithing. Praise Christ.

Cheaper seats were $156 for a pair but my wife needs Ada seats so she's being penalized for needing a wheelchair. So much for the great new system at Red Rocks.

>> Are you guys ready to PRAISE GOD?????

This is the hardest I've laughed at anything on the Zone in quite some time

yeah daylight that pic and caption is hilarious. so true.

Phew, that’s quite a not so convenience fee.

Bump for Phil at Red Rocks...Cinco De Mayo!

Anyone have any solid info / link on whether Salmon will be opening and/or when Phil goes on?

Salmon will open for Phil. Probably Salmon 6:30   -  7:30

TFB 8:30 - 9:30 and 10:15-11:45

I think Sat curfew is midnight .

Thanks, looks reasonable to me ... although curious if you've seen this published somewhere?

No - just based on my experiences at Red Rocks.

How do we know it's not more of a true co-bill with each act getting one long "festival set"?

Phil is headlining and LOS is the “special support” band.

This is from the RR website.

”Get ready to welcome back the Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh! Together with The Terrapin Family Band and special support from Colarado-hailing Leftover Salmon, he’s coming to give you the show of a lifetime on Saturday 5th May 2018 at the Red Rocks Amphitheater!!”

>>>>How do we know .... <<<<

Wait until that deal goes down.

Wouldn't bet against you, was just wondering if there had been an official "schedule" released.

>> Are you guys ready to PRAISE GOD?????

This is the hardest I've laughed at anything on the Zone in quite some time<<<

Agreed.  Once I scrolled up to see what you were referring to.

Flat. Out.  Awesome.

I heard it is sold out now...Localcountyline, you were right about that.

Dang, almost $25 in service fees?? So insanely crazy...really wanted to see Phil on the Rocks one more time but I cant pay that kinda a fee just to be a customer...

Tickets were $59.50 including all fees and service charge.  I got row 29, excellent spot.  Ticket to fly from Buffalo to Denver $174 round trip.  What are you guys complaining about?  I’ll be there tomorrow,   WoooooooHooooooooo yes

Glad you got a reasonably priced ticket. It sucks that Red Rocks is sticking it to people who need a wheelchair to attend. Legally they can charge the same amount as the other reserved seats but the only other choice is behind the last row. If it's windy the sound sucks up there and you have concession stands right behind you. Red Rocks got sued over the previous ADA policy and they turned it into a way to jack up ticket prices in the first seven rows. FURR!

Yes, it does suck about that ADA policy at RR.  So they can get away with it because the ADA section is so close, too bad that lawsuit did not result in any new ADA seating in the middle rows, at reasonable prices.

too bad that lawsuit did not result in any new ADA seating in the middle rows, at reasonable prices<<<<

Not sure if it'd work out logistically to have ADA in the middle rows without some major reconfiguration of stairs/ramps.  The northern stairs would probably be way too difficult, but they probably could come up with something about 25 rows up from the bottom on the southern stair ... although would still probably require some significant renovation to reconfigure.

Phil Red Rocks tickets still available at https://www.facebook.com/phil.lesh/  (Phil's web page).  Can't wait to see all my Colorado Dead Head friends there and again for DSO 7/8/78 redo at Red Rocks.  Tahoe Andy

Same old Red Rocks question but I usually get Reserved... and tomorrow I'm going GA. What's the best entry point - those steep stairs that come up directly on Stage Right? Advice on what time to get there to get below Row 23/24 (where the reserved starts?) go Phil go!

$500 meet and greet.

In all fairness, it's a charity meet and great in which the funds go to the American Transplant Foundation, not the Ferrari Fuel Fund.

Not intended to disparage Phil. I'm more amazed by people's ability to shell out hundreds for VIP.

Your best entrance is the stairs from the bottom on the east side, just north and next to the stage (as you mentioned) They have a bunch of staff and pre check the line before doors open.

>>I'm more amazed by people's ability to shell out hundreds for VIP.

There's a VIP meet n greet for The Rolling Stones. It's $12 000, you have to go through a security background check prior, and the small print says The Stones may spend anywhere from 15 - 90 seconds per person.

That's up to $800 a second. Wow.

Phil sounds like a deal

and no cavity search to boot.

Looks like a favorable weather forecast for tomorrow.

Soaked in the river at Mount Princeton Hot Springs today :-)

relax

Excited for the show tomorrow! Can somebody post which side of the stage Phil plays in his current band?

Pretty much house right.

We'll need a photo of your ticket stub Mark.

Thanks, Scott.

We've already photochopped the necessary counterfeits, Lance. These hippies will never know the difference. Bwhahaha!

Have a good show, festers!

Pls post a stream link of ya know of one. Thx.

i am here... just so yous know

Turn on the Taper Rob stream for 1 minute

Mountains of the Moon

Never mind

Not real impressed. First two tunes sounded like some coked up cover band to me. Maybe it's just me or not being there?

Had to turn this Mountains off due to the female singer. Just killed it for me.

Anyway, I love the fact Phil is out and about playing music. And that folks are enjoying this band.yes

After Phil rap Mihali from Twiddle came out for fire and MNS.

>>>Did the show get any better after the Mountains?

I thought the the Salmonized Cumberland>Viola opener and the TMNS were the only noteworthy parts of the show.

^^^^^^^

Was streaming the event so couldn't see the transition and there was no audio alert of musical quality turbulence ahead..

Was rather pumped to hear Jack Straw until first verse w/Hymnal Singer on vocals it was time to turn-off the stream.  Too bad you cannot "un-hear" something.  IMHO.

Please Phil, w/all due respect.    FULL Q TOUR (w/time for rehearsals).

Your level of musicianship deserves people who expand your magic not ride on its coattails.  Plus

the $$$$ from a Q TOUR without overpaid Promoters would leave you with an impressive pile of coin.

Special "Thank You" to Taperrob for yet another amazing stream.  So kind of you for transporting all of us there who could not be physically present.  Owe you a beer when when we finally meet for the YEARS of great music you have share with all of us Zoners and more....

Anybody see Olson there?

Plus the $$$$ from a Q TOUR without overpaid Promoters would leave you with an impressive pile of coin.

As much as many would like to see that happen it probably would not be a financial success at all. Except for a few markets, a Q tour would be playing to half the people it did back in the day and the expenses would probably be 2 to 3 times as much as they were back in the heyday.

Thanks taper Rob...

Really bummed we couldn't make this, we had a whole train trip vacation to Phil on the Rocks planned out but then we somehow got a home loan and all our disposable $$ vanished, so no Phil for us...looking forward to a recording...

We had a wonderful time last night. Salmon warmed us up with some Colorado Americana. Enjoyed their set, and they played their new album in it's entirely, which had some definite standouts.

Phil took the stage and treated us to a rollicking Cumberland>Viola opener with some of the Salmon guys. Great energy for the sold out crowd

I purposely went in with no expectations, and I think that mindset served me well. I enjoyed the whole experience, and standing in Row 24 directly in front of Phil was really special.

Box of Rain to close things out was just exactly perfect. Love you, Phil. Thanks for all the years.

Loved the Cumberland but it seemed that the acoustic skills of the Salmon guys were lost in the heavy electric blues of Viola.

Vt Crow,

Thanks for answering my question.

That’s a good review on jambase.  I had a great time. Everything from Terrapin onward was the best part of the show.  Unfortunately RMFJ did a terrible job with Like a Rolling Stone, too slow and weird.

I would have liked saying hello to St. Mark, didn’t know you were going.

Bummed we missed ya, CR. Saw a ton of old friends and familiar faces last night, tho. So much fun to reconnect with people from the scene.

>>>>How do we know .... <<<<

Stuck at airport, 9am flight delayed until 2.  They couldn’t get the door closed, after sitting on the plane for an hour everyone had to get off and back to the gate.   :-(

Did anyone go to see Phil and others on Sunday 5/6??? Really curious as to what he played!!
