Most interesting article, thanks for sharing.

oops, just noticed that I got his name wrong -- Baron Wolman, not Bill Wolman.

Obviously when I wrote Rolling Stone in the subject line, I must've been thinking of Bill Wyman, LOL.

^^^^^!!!!!!^^^^

It's funny how people are famous for taking pictures of famous people. Same  as roadies are known among fans.

Does anyone know Jeff Becks guitar tech. Yet they know who Jerry's is. Kinda weird. No?

Why is it funny? Good rock photographers are every bit as much artists as their subjects are.

Try creating an impression that is indelible in the human psyche across decades, generations. Not easy to do honestly.

He was a trend setter unbeknownst to himself is what i gathered from the article.

I think the year was 1989 when Baron hired me to tile his guest bathroom at his home in Mill Valley. I tiled a standard tub surround in a black 4 inch ceramic tile along with the vanity. I completed the job and he seemed very happy with the work, he paid me. During my time at his home we got to know each other and he found out I was a dead head. I also learned who he was. We got along great and it was more like working for a friend than a client. After about a week he called me up and said he hated the color of the tile and wanted it replaced. I tore out the black tile and redid the entire job in a white tile and he paid me again.

He was very apologetic about the whole thing and said he had something for me. Baron took me downstairs into his office and opened up a filing cabinet. Every band you could think of had a file. He thumbed through and took out the Grateful Dead file. It was filled with proof sheets of the GD. He told me to take my time to look through it and pick out three. I picked 2 of Jerry and 1 of Bob from the Belvedere studio shoot. He signed them. Last year I sold one of the Jerry pictures for $1,800.

^^^ great story, Peak!
