Robert Fripp & Peter Gabriel - Here Comes The Flood (1979) [RV VERSION]

Forums:

One of my favorite songs and collaborations.  I was a big fan of frippertronics and got to catch League of Gentleman around 1980.

Wow just wow and thanks !

That was great

I consider the trio of Peter Gabriel 1, Robert Fripp's Exposure and Daryl Hall's Sacred Song, all recorded at the same time, at the same studio and using mostly the same musicians, one of the most amazing group of records ever. There is so much cross-pollination between them all (Fripp produced them all) that almost any cut from any album can be switched out to a different album and it wouldn't sound out of place. I remember when they were first released I spend hours listen to them all over and over and never grew tired of them. I have always thought that someone should repackage them into a 3 disc deluxe set with copious linear notes.

Thanks Tony, I didn't know that!

The scenes of floods and upheaval at the beginning of the video sent chills up my spine, seems prescient to todays climate situation...

Thanks for the link!  For me it was always the definitive version of HCTF.  I don't think the original cd release of Exposure had that version?

Exposure was re-released as a 2-cd set, with the second disk containing alternate takes from those sessions.  Including:  Hall on Disengage and Chicago instead of Peter Hammil, and Hall instead of Terre Roche on Mary. Can't say I prefer any of those alternate vocals, but it's interesting to have them.  Note also, the Exposure liner notes say:  "This album was originally conceived as the third part of an MOR trilogy with Daryl Hall's solo album "Sacred Songs" and Peter Gabriel II, both of which I produced and to which I contributed."

Thanks to skifurthur for the post about Sacred Songs.  I listened to it for the first time today.
