See you at Nedfest

Forums:

Locked in and looking forward.

You will have a good time. The drive into town from Boulder follows a 17 mile canyon and it's worth it to pull over and check out the scenery and rock climbers. Also check out the woodfired pizza in the middle of town -- Crosscut Pizzearia & Taphouse. Town consists of several blocks and a shopping center with a merry-go-round. Once you park, you can walk everywhere easily. Plenty of bars and dispensaries, healthfood store and deli. Cops wil enforce speed limits.

I am familiar with the Nederland of around 1988/89ish and sking the small resort close to there. I can only imagine the changes. Been a long time.

Electric Hot Tuna.

Looking forward

Are you going to be there too, slacker? Dig the selfie image and hope to see you there.

We'll be at Blue Oyster Cult. Have fun!

I'll be there Saturday for EHT.

Nederland is still pretty small. It's just a lot busier on the weekends. Drove through today and was surprised by the number of people sitting outside eating everywhere. I guess it's good for the town to have thriving businesses.

Ned hasn't really changed much over the years.

Still full of dirty hippies, but the grows are (mostly) legal now.

Got a Saturday ticket then I will pick up the better half at the Denver airport on Sunday.

I think it will b's a blast to hang with the dirty hippies for a day.

Get some onya!

What is this?

Turtle, it appears to be a well organized put together small music fest in a hippieish atmospheric successful professional way. The

Tickets limited to 2,000a day.

Bump.

Getting closer. I will be there most likely all day  Saturday,  what tweener in the mead tent do we say hey?

I'll be coming in from Central City.

Hey Jaz, so glad for you that you're going to Nedfest, and that you and your wife will have some vacation time.

I hope it's all big fun.

"Zoner mead up" at the mead tent during 330 tweener Pickin Pear?

Be there . Pickin pear. GOT IT.

Thanks, Judit. Sure it will be a blast.

Alanr,  I will most likely look like many others , graybeard with one of those Vietnam war looking booney hats on.

Or maybe not. Anyway look for a gray beard with a camo jungle hat.

Getting close and looking forward to seeing  Colorado again.

It's been too long.

Excellent. As you probably know, sunny 77 degree forecast for daytime, but it's been dipping down to upper 40s at night. Damn, that's cold for August.

Hoping Jorma will have a couple advance copies of his book to sell, as it officially releases a couple days later.

Solid hot in the deep South. Looking forward to a flannel shirt and such. It'll be a nice break.

Bring rain gear. Even if it's not in the forecast, quick storms often roll through in the afternoon.

<Anyway look for a gray beard with a camo jungle hat.>

I asked this one guy I saw wandering around town looking kinda swampy if he was JazFish, and he smiled and bit me on the arm. Luckily I was wearing long sleeves.

Then I remembered you are still driving out here. Safe travels.

And I cleaned up. Really.

Looking forward to the 20th NedFest. I'll be easy to spot...

Today I look like this:

Saturday I'll be somewhere in between. See ya at the mead tent!

Yep for sure and looking forward to tomorrow.  Mead tweener, forget who , 3:30ish I think.

I am in Central  City eating a damn fine breakfast burrito at the moment. The Colorado Green Chili sauce kicks ass.

That sounds good. I want to got to Switzerland because they eat breakfast for dinner.

Does this trip include your first visit to a legal recreational marijuana dispensary?

Either way have a blast and stay hydrated

Have fun, Jaz!!!

If I get there late look for the Octoskull...

So I am here. Orangereddish t shirt  and the camo  boony  type hat hauling a leather pack and a blue chair.

There’s a festival going on today, just up the road from me. It’s called Godstock.

I’m not going.

Joy, yes. I like my weed better.

I will be here next year.

Details later. This small fest got  it together.

Got to try to get a couple of hours sleep and pick up Patty at Denver airport in am.

Zoners are the best!!

That's the front of the parade. I didn't take pics of the kids.

Hey now,   Short post @ the airport now. Enjoyed riding the rail with Mr. and Mrs.  Highnote(Stringtwang).

Alanr knows every one there. It was a pleasure.

A no-hassle great time, as always. New 3D Zoner friends were like old buddies --- funny how that works.

Highlights were mostly the expected ones - Jorma acoustic, Tuna, and JGB -- all solid shows.  A pleasant surprise was the opening night's "all star" hodgepodge band (which can suck due to no rehearsal, but fuckin smoked -- do your self a favor and hunt for a recording).

Festival lowlights were probably the late night shows at the Caribou Room which lacked dance groove (I'm not really into intellectual music at that hour).

That high altitude dry air and dust takes it's toll. I'm actually glad to be back to sea-level and humidity.

Jorma2.jpg

Jorma had the world's mellowest book signing - a small folding table set up in the dust in front of the merch booth. He spoke to everyone in line in a relaxed, polite, genuine manner.

Jorma3_0.jpg

I'm 200 pages in due to a long flight.

Funny story - Tuna and company were staying at one of the area's few local lodgings. Check-out time came around and the place wanted them out. But they weren't scheduled to play until night, so last minute phone calls were made back and forth to try to finagle a late check out.

Someone from the festival staff reached the hotel manager and asked.. "Do you know who these guys are?"

"No."

"Have you ever heard of the Jefferson Airplane, from the sixties?"

"No."

"Have you ever heard of the Jefferson Starship, from the seventies?"

"No."

"You know them.... remember that song? (starts singing) We Built this City..."

"(slight pause) ...Oh yeah... I hate that song."

Needless to say the band didn't get their late check out and hung at the festival all day.

It really was like instant old buddies.  We are headed to Durango in the A.m..  lots of images from RMNP  Mesa Verde NP soon.  I only sport an android pocket gazmatronic device that I am learning. No pc.

Maps from local visitor centers are a godsend.  Seems like a dispensaries are always close to the center.

Alan truly does know every one!!!!!!!!

Alan , I see your posts above. At RMNP I made it up to the 12,006ish  Huffers Hill. I made it. I was the only greybeard. Images from the summit  later.

I hope to post some great images of  right off the rail of Alan and Heather. Really beautiful.

Shit my bad.  THERE ARE TWO ALAN's.
