The Third Mind "Morning Dew"

Forums:

Dave Alvin has a psychedelic rock project called The Third Mind, with Camper Van Beethoven's Victor Krummenacher and David Immergluck, and Better Than Ezra's Michael Jerome.  Too bad we're all doing the shutdown, because these guys would be a lot of fun to see live.  Check out their version of Morning Dew:

We are rocking out to this in the cosmic country thread. Agree this would be a real hot show. Dave Alvin has got to be one of the most underappreciated singer/songwriters out there and he's got a nice style and real good tone.

I was set to see that group twice on their Bay Area swing, but those shows were scheduled for just after the COVID shut-down.

One of the more disappointing shows I've had to miss.

and one of the most underrated guitar slingers out there...

you have to be a bad ass to wear a scarf.

He's more badass than Hendrix, Hendrix wore a scarf.

SRV wore a scarf..

And while this is a good version of MD, I would have preferred Alvin singing.

IMO his deep, road-weary voice would do well on that song.

that whole album is fantastic.

they were supposed to come through here.

was expecting Dave to sing when I clicked

What a great band.  I hope to see them play in the future.   A double bill with Camper would be sweet

I used to work with Victor at his post Camper day job. Great guy. He would always win the old war story conversations. No one could compete with things like that time Henry Rollins was shooting his gun in the hallway in that hotel in Berlin.

I had bought a ticket for that tour also. I bought the CD when it first came out and got the one with the bonus tracks.          3 versions of East/West. Turn that shit up and I dare you to just sit there.  I keep turning it up louder.

I was a bit disappointed by the vocals on MD also.

Mucho Gracias, need more of this

kinda a primal feel to the morning dew, love it

Good stuff. The Dolphins is a mellow vibe....

Definitely the winner of the year for me of most disappointing shows I had tickets for that were cancelled, and I had tickets for some pretty cool shit, but that would have been a very good live band.

Hell, the venue even got cancelled :(

(((RIP the Palms in Davis)))

fuck covid!

just gonna fix this on my way out:

>>>Better Than Ezra's Richard Thompson Band's Michael Jerome

Thanks E.  I knew I'd seen that guy somewhere, but couldn't remember where.  Funny that his Wikipedia entry emphasizes his role in BTE, as his stints with the RTB and John Cale's band are more interesting:

He's one of my favorite drummers, if I was better than Ezra I'd claim the shit out of him too

That is the show I was going to too, E.  Did not know the venue died though. Tough times.
