Nice thanks

i like that it's Live

Will look into it ~ thanks!

This is why I check out the zone.... many great links to music, some bands I'd never have heard of otherwise....

it's a good thing!

Strings were nicely nice

The strings have Wolfmans a Sail Away by Enya  vibe.

Sounds awful

I must have really shitty taste or I was watching a different show because I was amazed by what I heard on Friday night. Trey and his band played really tight grooves all night long. They didn't do any deep-space jamming, but that's ok. There was some nice Type I build and release jams at the end, and overall I thought the playing was solid.

Divided Sky duet with the piano was breathtaking and Trey as part of the string quintet was totally beautiful. How many musicians do that? Three totally different arrangements in one night?

And then you factor in that Trey is bringing great live music, in a beautiful setting to our living rooms for free. Plus, keeping musicians in work (including classical musicians) and keeping the live music buzz alive. And they've raised like 200k so far to build a shelter for compassionate rehab care. And you have Trey chuckling and making bad jokes and trying to follow a twitch chat stream, lol.

I loved it, gave me the feel-goods all over.

Thanks, Trey!

I thought it was great too.  Trey comes off like a super nice guy too.  Big Dad energy show.

Hubby, visiting zoner, and I had a fantastic experience

(:

This past Beacon Friday was fantastic! Ray & Russ were absolutely killing it. Trey's buddy who sat in for the Divided Sky was spectacular. The night was filled with several very unique arrangements which, imo, were all extremely enjoyable. Trey just never stops moving forward, trying new things, and seemingly enjoys it all as much, if not more, than anyone! Loved the super unique Ocelot and yes, the strings were tremendous. Our crew watching is wondering why they are facing the back of the stage instead of the seats. Assuming something to do with sound. What a treat for us and how incredibly cool it must be for everyone in the band to be in the Beacon while it's empty. Keep on carrying that torch Big Red!!!

Totally agree with your review, Starkdar, and Hey Jill! :)

I thought about it, it's not a sound issue because they're just picking it up direct from the mikes and pick-ups. I think it's just to have the beautiful backdrop of the theater. If that's the case, I think it's pretty clever. If you saw the usual stage backdrop, it would just look like a band playing a show, and that's not really what this is. With the theater in the background, it's a constant reminder that they're in the theater and it makes it feel really intimate, like they're sort of just practicing together, rather than playing a straight-up show.

I don't know, I'm probably wrong but that was my theory and I liked it that way for sure. Again, if the backdrop had been standard show backdrop, I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much.

I thought it was fantastic !! And let’s not forget the rescue strings are probably not getting much work so kudos to Trey for trying something new and giving fellow musicians work !!

Exactly my thoughts, way to keep people in green during difficult times. Nice work, Trey!

Interesting thought about the backdrop / seats. Certainly could be the reason. I agree, the seating with the lights looks pretty cool!

And yes, giving the strings some pseudo live work is just great! Not to mention Ray, Russ, Cyro and Tony.  I saw Ray & Russ a few weeks back in Stowe and they haven't been working with the band much at all. And, that gig was pretty small, but sure was fantastic and a great time!

That's killer that you got to see them in such a small setting. They're amazing musicians. Thing is, I've never dug Trey band much, and in the past couple years I've slowly been getting more into them. Then this particular set-up, the 5 piece band, well, I just really liked the way they sounded. Sometimes Trey Band has so much going on, it's too much for me. But this I like. And they played nice, tightly gelled versions of the tunes, also cool. Nice to hear alternate takes on Phish standards, too.

It kind of reminded me of those strange out-takes in The Last Waltz, where it shows them playing but there's no one there. I don't know why, it just triggered that association in my head.

Couple other streams goin on tonight but I think I'll be tuning in

thanks for reminding me !

heartHOLA JAVheart

Whats the Use through If I Could was gorgeous.

Last Tube was rippin'.

Im calling last nights band

The Fighting Spatchcocks.

No, you're a spatchcock!

I guess this'll be the best thing on tonight. It's a shame only a couple more of these left.

I think tonight is his last night. All raised money goes to building  a rehab facility in Vermont. Raised a chunk of change.

Twitch it up kids. My kids was impressed that I knew that word much less how to use it.

YAHOO Im home!

Congrats Tim!  Home sweet home!

Welcome Home!
I think there is 1 more Trey show next week

Last night was good

Just listened to YEM. Cool arrangement.

Next Friday is the last night, and the facility being built is going to be in West Virginia.

The shows have been absolutely exceptional with the last three being total standouts! The composition with the strings and classical pianist are spectacular. This band absolutely blazes. The banter between songs is super fun and hilarious at times. Trey is it a truly amazing person and guitarist. Harry Hood this past Friday was wonderful, Camel walk, Push on til the day, Alive Again and many more are worthy of many replays!

No, you're a quantegy!

Best one by far so far has been 10.23. Trey's banter is like Phil's Donor Rap on 11....but between every song.

This could be the last time. Maybe the last time. I don't know! (but yeah the last)

Are any of these available to watch after the fact?  I'd like to go back and see the ones I've missed.

The last few weeks were there last time I checked

Last night was tight

You can watch all of them on demand as a livephish.com subscriber otherwise Trey has been posting highlights on YouTube
