What's for dinner?

Forums:

We had Greeksgiving at my brother and sister-in-laws.  So good and none of us are Greek.  She did most of the cooking while my brother and I procured the ingredients at three different grocers.  First time to Pete's Market and the place is awesome!

Moussaka, oven fried potatoes with lemon & oregano, baked chicken neo-avgolemono, chicken souvlaki, kefthedes in tomato sauce, melanzanosalata, and tzatziki sauce (everything made from scratch).  Delicious, the moussaka (eggplant) was my favorite dish and the melanzanosalata.

I am obviously hungry and that is very appetizing

The tray to the top left is the Greek like lasagna no

Tonight I keep thinking of that scene in Bluesbrothers, when Dan akroyd finally gets a motel room and right as he is dozing off the neon sign in front of his window starts blinking.

He sings about a hobo wire hanger toaster

But at the diner Anthea kills it at, Elwood orders a whole chicken on white bread.

Me I had a sausage pinwheel and beef barley soup tonight.

Sort of, eggplant instead of noodles and different spices.

Spanakopita

My sister married into a Greek clan and I had varying degrees of Greek foods the last 27 years

The above looks better then anything my I have had recently

I have a rotisserie chicken and a pasta salad - total cost was just over 10 bucks

Chicken salad maybe for leftovers Monday

I should eat soon

Made beef chop suey with mushrooms, celery, onions, bamboo shoots over rice.  Good leftovers for tomorrow.

Spanish rice, refried beans with queso blanco, and tortillas.

Last night I celebrated a thanks and ate at 9pm at Savianos in Bohemia.

Pasta Fajoli Soup; paired with a basked of complementary scorching- hot- flat- bread (fresh out of the Brick Oven) & a couple of slices of Pizza.

Pasta Fajioli Savianos 11 8 2018.jpg

I'll take a couple troths of that.  Any respectable plate of italian food is served with bread.  I would have used my pizza slices, preferably a real sicilian(no mozz) to dip in my pasta fagioli.

It's "Pizza-Wars" by me.

There are 3 pizza places all with in walking distance of each other from the place above

Acid and beer.

I have 2 Pepes, always on the top pizza places in the US, within 20 minutes of me, & 4 places in my town of 2500 so it's not a problem with finding a great pie. The issue is finding a great sicilian pie.

 Sure Pepes!

Savianos might not have Sausage Rolls, but they do have the best Sicilian by me

The pizza place next to the theater I am going to, tonight in Bayshore has really picked up their game.

Place is always open after a concert there.

They have yummy large Rice Ballsn

I will take a photo post show if I have the data space.

The hummus looks good, is the squash for show?

No the squash was consumed. Delicata, I believe.

We have so many Italian joints and Pizza places by me. I never realized that.

Lately I work from 9-9 at the Library on my videos, and some of the places I would normally go to are shutting down the-pop-shop around then

I found a place, Sal's in Sayville; that has been open since 1980 & never thought it was good. But the food is cheap and excellent.

$12 Veal Parmesan was very good.
