Roger Goodell Pens Letter To NFL Teams, Believes ‘Everyone Should Stand’

The commissioner glosses over why athletes are kneeling in the first place.

nah, i read that at lunch today in the kansas city star online

What's your thoughts on the matter??

I have power and influence because of my wealth.

If the players want to kneel they should kneel. I sit through that shit myself. You want to end the controversy? Don’t play the National anthem before a game. It’s a sporting event, not a rah-rah rally.

>>>>‘Everyone Should Stand’

but don't take a stand

I set through the A's vs Red Sox anthem in September 2016 in Oakland.

White players need to kneel. The issue bigger then them all.

In movies and TV they shoot the bad guy in arm or leg so he doesn't kill himself so he has to go to prison for a long time. In reality cops shoot black people in the backs for running from the police.

oh the horror of having to endure the national anthem for 5 minutes out of your busy lives. how do y'all make it through & keep your sanity? start a petition to stop it from being played.

It’s insulting, fuck that shit. It doesn’t belong at sporting events.

I don’t go to ballgames to be subject to government military propaganda...get the anthem and flag BS out of all sports.

Trump questions NFL tax breaks, continuing clashes with the sport

http://www.kcra.com/article/trump-attacks-nfl-over-taxes-continuing-clas...

...The NFL had benefited from its unlikely status as a not-for-profit organization, allowing it to collect billions in revenue and pass the money along to individual teams. But the league in 2015 announced it would give up that status voluntarily. And that was one of the smaller tax breaks it received.

In terms of federal taxes, the biggest tax breaks the NFL benefits from allows corporate customers that spend billions on luxury boxes and other premium seats, as well as on sponsorship deals and advertising on games, to deduct those expenses when calculating their profits and tax bills. WTF

Its much more fun to take part in an activity then it is to watch others participate in one anyway so I dont really give a shit who sits or stands, ill be outside. We created this monster, live with it

Lol

You realize sports (at the most fundamental, base level) is a version of tribal warfare, right?

Fuck the San Francisco 49ers and their stupid fucking fans!

nationalism SUCKS.

some interesting notes.

Turtle has been in a bad mood about the NFL ever since they forcibly relocated the Chargers to L.A.

It shall be done says the Commish.

NBA like that?

Rephrase.

Doesn't the NBA have a rule or policy, all players stand? Seems like I read that.

>>>It’s a sporting event, not a rah-rah rally.

yes it is, but it's also people at work.  They are being paid to play sports.  There is no place for protesting while you are at work.  Do that shit on your own time.

Mohamed Ali protested and he's the most popular athlete the world has ever seen.

and that has about zero percent to do with it. If I had to say the pledge of allegiance or salute the flag at work I’d tell my employer to promptly go fuck himself. Flags and songs are symbols made to be respected or disrespected. That’s what makes this country great.....at least theoretically, given that we even have to have this conversation shows how fast our rights are being usurped and trampled on.

I've never heard it referred to as insulting before, i must say

I was just discussing this with a friend this morning and I felt that since professional sports is just entertainment, the owner can dictate whatever they want, as long as it's not illegal, as a condition of one's employment. That being said, I feel this is something that should be brought up in contract negotiations up front. If a player decides they don't agree with the conditions, they are free to sign with someone else. If it wasn't a condition of the contract the owner can bench a player but still has to pay their salary.

why is it broadcasted at all?

shouldn't they be selling commercials?

>>>why is it broadcasted at all?

Usually it's not broadcasted.  All this new attention has changed that.

I think the league should just make the players stay in the locker room until it's over.  Problem solved.

They need to just drop the anthem.

Its a hugely political act for everyone to participate in the first place.

Who needs all that Jingoism at the start of the bread and circus?

Exactly my point Smiley.

SF Giants fans should boycott home games until the anthem ain't played no more.

It's a start.
