I caught Lee Rocker (of the Stray Cats) and his awesome band at the newly renovated landmark Patchogue Theater here on Long Island, NY last night.
It was the first rock concert at the majestic room and let me tell you, the Cats didn't piss on the carpet, they ripped!
Lee Rocker's band features Buzz Campbell on guitar, who knows every Brian Setzer (Stray Cats) & Scotty Moore (Elvis) riff from the Rock-A-Bily playbook.
Lee was the double (upright) bass player, local hero from Massapequa-next own over from me. With his mates, Slim Jim Phantom & Brian Stezer they rocked the world from 79-84 as the Stray Cats.
Lee's band played all the Stray Cat tunes, every Rockabilly classic, an acoustic set with Arlo's City of New Orleans, and The Band's Ophelia.
Lee wrote many of the Stray Cat tunes with Stetzer and his voice last night sounded just like Brian's.
Fun night. Nice room. Great band.
Catch Lee Rocker if you can, it's a fun rocking show.
