Alex Skolnick Trio

Forums:

I witnessed a very cool night of music with guitarist extraordinaire Alex Skolnick (from a very successful Metal Band - Testament) and his Jazz Trio.

The Alex Skolnick Trio is a fairly normal Jazz band, with Nathan Peck on bass, Matt Zebroski on drums and Alex on his jazz axe.

For the Trio Alex plays an Ibanez Jazz Hollow Body guitar, that looks like a George Benson model.

A renowned guitar player, with major endorsements. An educated musicologist, with degrees from the Berkley School of Music and the New School in NYC.

{Alex has many instructional videos on YouTube that are great}

Alex will take a rock standard and dress it up in jazz. Much more straight ahead then you would think.  Diction lessons and a huge fan of Charlie Christian & Django Reinhardt.

Highlights of this show were Aerosmith's Dream On & a song he wrote about an inspired by Prince called 99/09

Below are some videos & photographs of the show -

These video are around 12 minutes long. The song Still Loving You as a few bars of drum solo missing at the end. Sorry

I did not record a Deep Purple medley (for the Winter Solstice) and the encore which was Jimi Hendrix's Red House.

Testament rules, fuck the weak shit devil

Cool Bart. I haven't heard of him. I'd check him out, for sure.

Thanks Bart. I see he's Journey's drummer as well. Have fun at the Grass Valley show. I'll make it a point to see him in any band he's in.
