Someone took a whole bunch of time and effort to analyze the classic GD film, and figured out (within a few days) how many times Bill Murray woke up in Punxutawney once again. I forget the number, but it was thousands not dozens.
And some fascinating Woodchuck trivia... they like to make their burrow / den / habitat on High ground, so in a given area, you'll find them on a hill, not swamp. A girlfriend in Quêbec explained this to me. She had a house in a suburban neighborhood with many similar homes on 1/2 acre lots. Hers was a meter or so higher in elevation, so the Woodchucks / Groundhogs decided to burrow under her Garden shed for living quarters.
For me it's the Cheetos Banditos, part of the chipmunk resistance! Can't trust those furry little fiends! They're my Montana Mining Claim Menace! At least the prairie dogs are just peeping toms!
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio will not be attending the Staten Island Zoo's annual Groundhog Day ceremony — several years after he famously dropped a groundhog that later died.
The Democratic mayor's spokesman, Eric Phillips, says the mayor hasn't attended in recent years and has many other events to attend. The zoo's groundhog Chuck has made weather predictions for more than three decades.
The current mayor was not the first to have groundhog troubles, as former Mayor Michael Bloomberg was bitten by Chuck in 2009.
Perhaps more acumen should be given to these groundhogs political sentiments!
