I'm going to see the Stanley Jordan Trio tonight at the Boulton Center if all goes well. Any one else?
The theater is kicking off the 2018 season etc..
There's no script or set cast with Stanley.
Check this Trio out:

I'm doing some research into
I'm doing some research into whether continued exposure to high-bitrate, low-quality audience documents of live music, over time, has a detrimental effect on human hearing.
Op has provided some excellent stimuli for analysis. Very poor quality sound, maxed-out volume, seemingly complete lack of dynamic range... anecdotally speaking, I skipped the emasculated guitar noodling at the beginning of this document, and found some of Cobham's outstanding drumwork to hone in on, listened in for about 6-7 seconds, and a minute or two later, am just now shaking off the dull "hiss" that accompanies listening to too much of this kind of thing.
Listener beware, can't be good for you.
Thanks for the link, OP.

The listening inadequacies
The listening inadequacies and fatigue you experience Ateix is most definitely from the crackle, bump and pops of a 20-year-old vinyl played through a cheap stereo.
They make shine box for that.
>>>have a great time at the show.
Thank you sir.

Very interesting. Sad; indicative of low brain activity; but, interesting – again, from an analytical standpoint.

Bluelight is a video producer or audio engineer, I think? He should be able to explain it to you, if you can't figure out it.

Listening fatigue has got to
Listening fatigue has got to be aggravated by these conflicting high frequency harmonics in digital.
Most are inaudible and are canceling out other stuff out we used to hear without a problem when listening to an analog recording.
It's not a low bit rate problem, it's just the poor attributes of digital recording.

Indeed, I definitely pegged the wrong issue when I said low-bitrate. As you say, it's just a piss poor recording, maxed out to approximate high def.
Thanks for actually discussing the subject, instead of resorting to ad hominems! Maybe we can actually get a real conversation going here!

You misread what I wrote. It's understandable, not everything translates well to the written word, especially when one is all fired up and emotional.
What I am saying, is that I would defer to your professional experience with audio engineering (that's you, right?) insofar as the quality of the video is really, really, poor. I was not commenting on the playing.
And, anyway, I don't know how someone's opinion could be objectively "wrong," if I did decide that I found Cobham's playing subpar.
Again, I'm talking numbers here. Science. Poor video quality. That's all.

Fantastic show at the Boulton
Fantastic show at the Boulton Center last night with Stanley Jordan.
I video taped the show but YouTube ripped ity down it seems because Jimmy Page doesn't like that Stanley's version is better.
There was a great version of Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Chile. I will tray and re-edit and re-upload the video.

That worked. I ultimately
That worked. I ultimately just removed the final track I had Stairway to Heaven. I did this at 3:30pm and YouTube police left it.
It went Steely Dan's Black Cow into a noodle then Stairway to Heaven. At first I removed both, that worked. Then I pulled that down left the great Black Cow and edited out a not so good version of Stairway to Heaven.
The shows open with "Bathed in Light". There's a convoluted version of Sounds of Silence where he keeps playing the verses and never plays the chorus. The YouTube police missed it.
A rare Voodoo Chile at exactly the 30 minute mark.
Some amazing playing. The piano / guitar thing is crazy...McCoy Tyner in the right hand and like Stanley Jordan in the left...
What I sat back and enjoyed was Davd Brubeck's Take 5 and some classical shit.

I finally got to see him in a small venue , up close and personal a while back ! I have never witnessed the Ardmore so quiet you could hear a pin drop, it was amazing how he had us all in his beautiful grip and waiting, wondering what was next :) I even got to speak with him a bit afterwards....I had a wonderful time !
Have been a fan for a while and will go whenever he plays there again.

I did have high expectations
I did have high expectations Lyn since you wrote such cool things about Stanley. But he far exceeded these bench marks I had in everyway.
Someone I could hang with and would have over for dinner.
He had the audience captivated and you could hear a pin drop. Everything he did was magical. He took a sip of water, the crowd claps. He had some soup up there. And he said "umm.. Miso soup. umm me- so thirsty". Crowd claps..
When he went to his grand piano he said, "When I was growing, there were always two friends I could always count on. Piano & Guitar". Then he just blew us away with his jazz piano prowess.
I'v been a fan of Stanley Jordan since he debuted on late night TV many years ago. Happy I finally got to see him in person.

I remember buying my first
I remember buying my first Stanley Jordan album back in the mid 80's. I was just perusing the record store when I saw his album. I bought it because there was a sticker on the album that said "One guitarist, one take, no overdubs". I wondered why they had to put that on the album. When I got home and listened to it, I was blown away, and I understood why they needed the sticker. It sounded like 2 guitarists and a bassist.
I need to see him live. I can't believe I haven't.
