RIP Kenny R

Forums:

My good friend Kenny passed yesterday at 5am following a stroke Thursday morning. We had know each other since childhood. He was an amazing musician that could play virtually anything, and play the shit out of it. He had set up a studio at his home several years ago and  started collecting instruments. He amassed an amazing collection, guitars and amps, microphones, keyboards, percussion things. It became a weekly ritual to stop by the studio on Fridays to jam, work out tunes, record tracks, or just shoot the shit over a few beers. He was always excited to show me his latest "find". A few months back he boldly stated that he was done buying guitars, running out of room he said. I laughed and told him it was a disease. Last week he brought out a 1942 Kaye Jumbo Acoustic 6 string he bought.."I just couldnt resist!" We had a good laugh and I played that baby for 2 hours straight. 4 days later I held his hand as he was laying in a hospital bed, paralyzed from the stroke. He fought hard for two more days when another stroke took his life. We had collaborated for years and he is in my blood. His brother told me we played as one, musically finishing each others sentances. RIP my friend. Put in a good word for me to the Angel Band.

I hope the pain wil not keep you from the muse, but that the memory of his love and energy will serve to inspire you to new heights.
