sits in with Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real
Rockers Lukas Nelson & Promise of The Realheadlined the second of two nights at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco on Tuesday. The band was joined by Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir for three songs to start their set in San Francisco.
When Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The Real took the stage following performances from Tyler Childers and Lillie Mae they were augmented by Weir. Up first was a version of the Grateful Dead’s “Althea” sung by Lukas. Bobby struggled with equipment issues throughout his guest spot, but didn’t let that stop him from belting out “West L.A. Fadeaway” for the second song of his three-song appearance.
The final Bob Weir/Lukas Nelson & POTR collaboration on Tuesday was a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Maggie’s Farm.” Once again, Bobby handled vocals on a song he sung a number of times a year with the Dead between 1990 – 1995 and has performed with various projects since. Weir vacated the stage just before “Maggie’s Farm” concluded. The guest appearance came a few weeks after Bob and Lukas performed together at tributes to John Perry Barlow held at The Fillmore in San Francisco and Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley.

I happened across a video
I happened across the video live on Fb just as Weir walked offstage. It looked like a big surprise to Lukas that Bobby was leaving when he did, but like the performer he is, announced Weir's name and went on.
edit: just watched the end of the video on the Jambase link - yep, just like that.
