If anyone sees stever at TXR.....

Forums:

Remind him the NBA Playoffs are upon us and he needs to come back to viva!!!!!!!!!!!!I

I miss him......especially this time of year.

His comments and his love for the Warriors made for the best sports thread i have ever been apart of on the old zone.

I'll start:

Cavs vs. Houston: Houston in 5

Cavs vs. Warriors: Cavs in 6.....7 if the Warriors are completely healthy

Thanks for letting him knowyes

I doubt either team will make it. SteveR had a great last TXR melt down and then vanished. He stalks Phil and his grandson pretty heavily still, I’m sure.

Go Sixers!

Lillard is going to cause the W's a lot of heartburn in the West semis.

Warriors / Rockets winner will battle Lebron in the finals and will cause him to lose...  again.

Everyone is discounting the Raptors who absolutely have a shot at the Finals.  But Lebron is Lebron...

I have no idea what the current comings and goings of SteveR except that he went on a tear about Bruce Springsteen yesterday after I posted a photo of his wife and Soozie Tyrell. He must have really had a burr in his britches since my post didn't show or mention Mr. Springsteen.

Anyway, that is the first he has even crossed my radar for a long while.

That was on Facebook, Tony? SteveR hasn’t posted here in a long time. He gave it a go for a short time at the beginning and that was it. People were assholes to him

It was on Twitter, Judit. I got to know Steve via the Backstreets.com message boards back in 2003, which is before I ended up in the Zone. As I said, it was the first he crossed my radar in a long time.

The Cavs will win nothing again this year and then LeBron will move on. They will probably make it to the NBA finals unless the sixers take them out!! Lol

As for the West it’s going to be interesting to see how 3-9 shake out, its still pretty tight,

The Lakers will be better next year.

When is St mark coming back?

That's a shame judit about people being assholes to him.

Loved discussing basketball with himyes

Sixers are very good young team......fun to watch!

Toronto might win the East if they don't choke like normal.

Cavs have a shot with James (to get to The Finals).  Not good enough to win i don't think (although I hope).

Bucks blow and are not going anywhere......although fun to watch at times.

James is not leaving.....btw.

If anyone talks to stever tell him Hooper says "hello."

Thanks.

I just saw Steve a couple of weeks ago, and that night he pretty much said no way to any more zoning.

I also recently advised him a bit about a part-time job he was interested in, and I believe he got it, which is good for him and will likely have me seeing him a little more.

I'll let him know folks are asking about him, and wanting to converse in a Warriors playoff thread.

I think the Warriors are in for a serious grind this year though, and from my amateurish viewpoint they seem to have some issues they haven't had before. They also have some serious competition to overcome that comes naturally to any great team, as other teams load up specifically to beat you, so I'm not sure he'll be in any mood to converse about it here.

But I'll let him know.

And...

GO WARRIORS!!!

Sounds good Lance.

Thanksyes

i want that guy that hates Lebron back

Sixers vs Rockets.... Rockets in 5

What happened to the Celtics?  I thought that they were hot stuff this year.

I'm also wondering if Andre Iguodala wishes that he had gone to Houston as he reportedly was sorely tempted to do between seasons.

How long before this Warriors team crumbles?  2-3 years tops.

^Seems pretty crumbly already...

By 2023 the warriors will be toast

can't stand d'antoni or harden.

go calves...

kyrie is hurt (again) for boston...

I am going to go out on a limb and say Warriors over Cavs in 5

^by 2023 the sixers will be the dominant team in the league

By 2023 The Knicks will still SUCK!

embid = greg oden

Embiid is ten times the player Oden was.

I get the injury concern, but his legs, knees, and feet have held up just fine this year. The orbital fracture is not related to his past problems and could have happened to anybody... It was a hustle play, going for a loose ball

Part time player, even Lonzo laughs at him

30.4 minutes per game, third highest on the sixers, fabes.

Simmons 33.9

Covington 31.8

Embiid 30.4

Played in 63 games

22.9 ppg/11 rpg/ 3.2 apg/ 1.8 bpg

Lonzo's stats

52 games played

34.2 minutes per game

10.2 ppg/ 6.9 rpg / 7.2 apg / 1.7 spg

31 games last year

63 this year...

how about he plays a full season before running his big fat mouth?

51.2 % from the field.

And he's not their best player

You mad?

Embid had the most impressive play of the frosh rookie game not the LA douchebag

lol. lonzo hasn't really said shit.

embid is good.

so was penny hardaway....

tmac...

ps. fuck the warriors.

True, but Embiid is 7' with small forward skills.

Loved penny, but liked little penny penny better

*little penny

Tell him that I still know more about basketball than he does, and that Steph Curry has weak ankles.

>>>How long before this Warriors team crumbles<<<

In this day & age it's hard to keep any great team together for a long time, and it may be so with the Warriors as well.

But, the one thing that keeps some teams always at or near the top is an excellent front office, ownership and overall organization, and the Warriors have that.

Plus, the Warriors owners & front office are ruthless and are not complacent because of their recent success, and they will not be afraid to move on from established fan favorite players.

There is no question that they have a plan for next year already, as well as a plan for two, four, six years from now, and they have backup plans for all of that as well. By all accounts they were planning on how to get Durant three years before he became available, and they had contingency plans if they didn't get him.

That's what great organizations do in any profession. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but that's the right way to run any business and that's how the Warriors operate.

No team can win a championship every year, but the great ones compete for it every year, just as the Warriors have been doing from the moment the new ownership and front office were in place, and what they are doing again this year. Given all that, along with the vast amount of money that will start rolling in when they move to their new area in a couple of years, there is no reason to think they won't stay at or near the top for quite a few more years, but I'm fairly sure it won't be with the same group of stars they have now. They'll just have other stars.

klay to l.a.

Warriors are done. That's why SteveR ain't here. If they won the games he said they'd win, he'd be here jawing about them. He thought they were going to win 8 straight.

fake tough guy durant.

hope he packs kleenex in his backpack.

My lonzo reference was more toward Embiid talking twitter shit about lonzo at the begining of the season until big daddy shut him down.

Lance, I think you give the Brass at GS too much credit, they hit the salary cap lottery. Having players you drafted and then developed under Mark Jackson that actually exceeded expectations, and then all of the timing of contracts to let you resign and also have room for Durant, and resign more of those developed players. They now hold the cards in being able to match any offer these guys might get, this is going to continue for a while. The west, outside of Houston is shit and no one in sight to challenge.

stever was pretty thin skinned and defensive from what always appeared to me to be good natured ribbing concerning gs. He really made for a perfect warriors fan on a dbmb.

I get to watch the local Warriors broadcasts in Reno for some reason, not sure why the Kings got skipped over but I'm not necessarily complaining. I must say that those Warriors announcers are utterly insufferable to listen to. Love it when they get all whiny when GSW are losing.

Unfortunately the Cavs are in a world of hurt this year.

Not playing any kind of consistent defense. Offensive struggles......they just stand around and watch James.no

Not sure they can even get to The Finals. Boo!!!!!!!

I do agree with Lance, I think the Warriors we be near or at the top for sometime to come but with rotating stars.

Seems the way the league has been trending.

I must have missed the Embid-Lonzo situation. What happened?

I'm a huge Cavs fan and obviously love watching the Eastern playoffs but I am really looking forward to watching the Western conference this year as well.

The last few years you knew who was going to walk right through. Not so much this year. Same with East.

Should be some exciting series and possibly a few upsets!

Let's hope so.yes

Fabes,

I'm not sure they can sign all of their stars once their contracts are up?

Klay pretty much gone for sure. Will miss his d and scoring.

Same with others.

Guess we'll have to see.

Across,

I am a huge Cavs can but I can't stand their announcers either!

They never get a call and they are always getting screwed.......blah......blah.....blah.

Sorry for all the posts.

My mania is kicking in apparently. Haha.

In one of those "building years" they also benefitted by the nba increasing the cap from 70 million to 94 million, a 24 million dollar bonus if you will, and just enough to sign a super star

I mean we just don’t have enough to beat the rockets in a 7 game series if we made it to the finals. If we

got a little help And the raptors get knocked off pre east finals then I think we could possibly make the finals

"the NBA features a so-called soft cap, meaning that there are several significant exceptions that allow teams to exceed the salary cap to sign players. This is done to allow teams to keep their own players, which, in theory, fosters fan support in each individual city. By contrast, the NFL and NHL caps are considered hard, meaning that they offer relatively few (if any) circumstances under which teams can exceed the salary cap. The NBA version of the "soft" cap does, however, offer less leeway to teams than that of the MLB. MLB does allow teams to spend as much as they want on salary, but it penalizes them a percentage of the amount by which they exceed the soft cap. The percentage increases as the number of consecutive years a team exceeds the cap grows, resetting only when a team falls under the cap."

Hmmm....interesting.

Is the soft cap like a lamb skin?

In like a lion, out like a lamb

Eagles, Villanova, 76ers,  it just might happen.

I like Phili or Bron Bron over anyone in the west.

Emblid and Simmons are both the real deal.

Been Simmons or Donovan Mitchell for ROTY?

Seems like an easy choice. The argument that Simmons already has a year under his belt is a lame one.

Ben is the first player I've ever compared to Magic in a serious way. The kid's court sense, passing and athleticism is off the charts.

Lastly, the West is as deep as I've ever seen. Love the Lillard and McCollum backcourt and Utah is not to be fucked with.

portland has a great duo for sure JR, i like those dudes.

and yes simmons looks great.

i had both him and soft embid on my hoops team....

Simmons needs to improve his free throw shooting. This weakness will be exploited in the playoffs.

Looking forward to seeing what happens tonight.

Going to finally see who is matching up with who!

On a different note....the Warriors are going to get bounced if they play like they did last night.

Not a good look. But it is just the regular season.

>>Ben is the first player I've ever compared to Magic in a serious way. The kid's court sense, passing and athleticism is off the charts.

As I posted in the Sports folder...

Simmons is the second rookie in NBA history to reach 1,200 points, 600 rebounds, and 600 assists.

Oscar Robertson is the other

Was at the Sixers/Cleveland game last Friday. They pulled out a big win after dropping a 29 pt lead and held off Lebron who couldn’t miss a three towards the end of the game. Prob should have went to OT but Lebron choked on a free throw. Simmons pulled a move on Lebron and made him look silly. We are talking about a guys first year in the league, took lebron to the hole and jammed in his face. The kid will be one of the greats.

Speaking of Villanova, Brunson and Bridges just declared for the draft.

Just by Mitchell commenting on Simmons takes him out imo, he should keep quiet. Interesting argument still, still if Simmons didn't play last year he should be considered a rookie this year. Has this ever happened before?

76ers, 15th straight win last night, franchise record.

Here’s how I’m calling the West:

Houston and Golden State are locked in at one and two.

Utah, winners of six straight, goes to Portland, losers of 4 in a row, tonight to play for the #3 seed. Portland will wake up and win and they will be the #3 seed and Utah #4.

New Orleans is at home against San Antonio with both teams currently 47-34. San Antonio WINS on the road tonight making them the #5 seed and making NO #8.

Denver will play at Minnesota for the final playoff spot in the West. Both at 46-35. Minnesota will win this game and slot in at the #7 spot.

OKC beats Memphis tonight and will end up #6.

meaning:

Houston vs NO

GS vs Minnesota

Portland vs OKC

Utah vs San Antonio

we will know tonight but that’s my call

>>>>>On a different note....the Warriors are going to get bounced if they play like they did last night.

They've been having a bit of trouble with the Jazz lately, like the last few years...

I'm going to try to figure out how to catch the playoffs without spending too much money.  Hopefully, I can engage in this thread and be the resident Warriors punching bag.  wink

Jab, jab, right cross

just warming up johnny

https://www.reddit.com/r/nbastreams/

usually they will have links to games up 30 mins before they start

my boss has season tickets johnny....

^Ha, I'm just talking about catching the playoffs on TV.  Don't have cable and I'm not sure that I even want to pay for beer at a sports bar.

You can certainly say that I've jumped off of the bandwagon.  The 2015 - 2016 dosage was so potent, anything basketball-related nowadays doesn't make a dent in my passion.  Well, that and the fact that I can no longer sign onto my mom's cable account. cheeky

I still listen to the games on the radio from time-to-time.

PS: My favorite NBA team in the 70's - 80's was The Lakers and I still have a soft spot in my heart for them.

GO LAKERS!

Vince Carter isn't a dirty player.

wha what?

the gs bandwagon's tires starting to show wear?

Warriors, ahem, Stever, come out to pla-ay!!

Foghorn, it has happened many times. Blake griffin won ROTY after not playing his first year. Let’s make that 16 in a row. NBA record to close out the season.

SIXERS

Great night in the NBA. T Wolves clinch in a nail biter and my favorite back court in the league are battling the jazz.

Houston Rockets in 6 vs Cavs

Sorry Philly, but you got your 2 championships.  Now Houston is going to run the board if the key Texan players can stay healthy.   Astros are going back2back.

It's been more than 20 years since the Rockets won back2back championships in 1994-1995

FB_IMG_1523548847119.jpg 20180412_090630_0.jpg

Houston winning would be a welcome surprise. Total respect for Harden and the beard.

Meanwhile, the NHL's big dance kicked off last night.

Vegas keeps winning, Winnipeg Jets looking decent and the Penguins flattened the Flyers 7-0.

Lots more series drop the puck tonight.

Tampa and Boston are the high seeds in the East, but the Penguins seem to have another gear for the playoffs, and the Capitols are a deep and experienced team led by Alex Ovechkin, who will try to shake off their playoff hex.

Playoff hockey, like playoff hoops, is the best.

Great time of year for sports fans.

The Capitals, playoffs

hahahaha

Tampa will crush everyone this year

Hockey sucks. This is a hoops thread. Please keep to the appropriate subject matter.

ain't no D in 'antoni.

Do all the buses in Oakland scroll GO WARRIORS across their destination screens?  Or did see a driver who went rogue?

Hush now, JR, we're talking sports, on a DBMB.  Besides, the NHL is going to beat the NBA's return to Seattle.

It's really a Stever thread.

Ha, ha Joe, we'll see if the han-di-Caps can win one for Ovie.

this definitely isn't a hockey thread.

you could go start one up though and enjoy the echo effect.

I challenge Java Dave to a game of  1 on 1. I'll perma ban myself from Viva if you beat me. 1st one to 11 by 1's.

the silver back taking you down low.

I've recently decided to start shooting hoops again after a 10 year hiatus. Already started to re-hone the mad handle, but haven't gotten any shots up yet.

I'd still destroy javaless dave one on one.

This guy is a younger version of myself (Georgetown commit):

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PePUaQ6789k

I second the "keep the hockey out of this thread"  Hockey sucks!!!  Keep your yankee sports out of this thread.

Series are all set.

Let's get the show started!

All the series have great potential to go 6-7 games unlike years past.

Let's hope it pans out.

Go Cavs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SIXERS

Well, I got a standing room ticket for the Warriors game on Saturday.

I did that last year for a playoff game and it was a blast, so I'm looking forward to going back into that building that I've been going into for most of my life and adding my voice once again to the noise at the good ol' Oakland Coliseum.

Hopefully, after playing three looooong seasons in a row the malaise the Warriors have been under for much of this regular season is just that, regular season blaa's, but it's not easy to just "flip the switch" in the playoffs, especially when they won't have their best player playing.

Plus, they'll be relying on a guy who I have come to really dislike, Nick Young, who from my uneducated view is a poser and a loser.

IMO they should have left him with the Lakers where he belongs.

I must say I'm worried about this first round. Steph Curry is magic and is in so many ways the Warriors leader; how will they respond in the playoffs without him? It also seems to me that their bench isn't as strong as it has been, but it is still very experienced and even without Curry their starters are still very good, so if they can use that talent & experience to turn it on now that the games finally matter again and they get past San Antonio things should become very interesting again with Curry back.

When Curry came back from an extended absence earlier this year he came back on fire. If that happens again they could well get to Houston, and if both teams are fully healthy THAT would be an interesting series that I think all basketball fans want to see.

It starts on Saturday.

GO WARRIORS!!!

Would love to see a Houston -Golden State Western Conference Final.

Should be some great series along the way.

Warriors run is done. Not sure they even make it out the first round. Would love to see sixers/Celtics second round. Always classic series between those teams. Great basketball match up. The west is going to be fun to watch tho. So many evenly matched teams. I’ve been over the dominance of the warriors and Cavs. Last year was probably the most boring and none eventful playoffs I’ve ever watched in my life. Warriors literally tap danced to a title. Let’s hope for a better and more competitive playoffs this year.

SIXERS

>>.Warriors run is done.

I think that's premature....maybe in a week you are right but considering how beat up they have been and how bored they've been with this season I think it's a mistake to say they are done.   Just like 'playoff' Lebron, I expect the Ws to show up.   They still have the best team on paper and assuming they 1) make it out of the first round and 2) stay healthy I don't see any reason they can't win.   They had no skin in the Utah game where Utah was playing for a seed.

With all that said it's looking like a great post season.   Not much talk about the Raptors getting out of the east but I'm sure they are hungry after be dogged for years.

It does seem like it's Houston's year but the history of Harden and D'antoni folding in the playoffs doesn't bode well.  They spent a lot of energy in the regular season getting top seed and hopefully it pays off.

Cavs are a hot mess....let's see how far Lebron can carry them again.    Lue is worthless.   I've never seen a coach look so clueless.    If Bron leaves I can't imagine he'd be around for long.

Philly is too young.   Give them two years.

Sad the celts aren't full strength, that would have made the east more interesting.

>Philly is too young

Back in July I wrote...

Jambone, if the Sixers can make the playoffs, it's a good season, a 4-6 seed is a great season

52-30, Number 3 seed... My expectations have been exceeded

embid missing game 1...

^That was expected

28 more games is like three more months, right?

Yeah, they won 9 in a row without him. Philly is a winning city right now. I don’t see the heat taking game 1. That place is gonna be crazy

28 pools cleaned in 3 months would net how much dough?

The 76ers are a mirage right now.  Don't get me wrong, there a young talented team that will be contenders for awhile if they can keep this talent together and stay healthy.   What your not realizing, is that in the 76ers 16 game winning streak, 13 of those wins were against lottery teams.  It's going to be the Raptors or the Cavs out of the East.

It's the Rockets year to win.

^Sixers went 38-12 over the final 50 games of the season

For one game at least the Warriors "flipped the switch".

They did everything they haven't done in a month.

That was a damned fun time.

GO WARRIORS!!!

Sixers actually have a 17 game winning streak right now. They absolutely clobbered Miami last night. Outclassed them. Right now they are the best three pt shooting team in the league, so I think that gives the a solid shot to get to the east finals. Whether or not they can beat the raptors or rockets, I’m not sure but it would be fun to watch them try. The rockets have been the best team all year, but    It doesn’t look like their will be any easy series in the West this year. Excited to see what happens. Philly is on fire.

39-12 over the last 51 games.

Jazz were 29-6 in their last 35. Quite the turnaround. From 19-28 to 48-34.

Tough matchup against Oklahoma City in round one. That last-game loss in Portland cost them home court and a three seed.

>>>>Back in July I wrote...

Did you just quote yourself?

Notes from yesterday......

W's looked fine yesterday.   Still the team to beat.

As much as I'm a fan of Mitchell, Simmons is a man among boys.  Reminds me of a young lebron where it was just clear he was playing in a different universe.

Bullets (yep, I did that) kind of got hosed yesterday.  Home court advantage is a bigger advantage in NBA than any other sport in my opinion.

I don’t see the warriors beating rockets in a 7 game series with rockets holding the home advantage. Those guys won 66 games this year. Although I’m hoping for a Sixers shock of a championship, I do think it’s hardens year. He did choke pretty bad last year tho.

>>Did you just quote yourself?<<

Sure did, Zang.

Are the Sixers too young?

Sure they have young "stars", but Belinelli, Ilyasova, Redick, Johnson are veterans. Nobody thought they would win 52 games or be a three seed. They are talented, deep, they can shoot, and they believe in themselves.

Like a noted basketball mind said, "My expectations have been exceeded."

>>>Those guys won 66 games this year.

Dubs have been pretty beat up and bored.   Season just started yesterday.

This cavs game has been horribly  refed

almost reminiscent of the lakers Scaremento playoffs a decade plus ago

Warriors got obliterated the other night by the jazz. Straight up embarrassed. Nobody in the west is afraid of that team after that game. They had that fear in the league he last few years. They don’t have it this year. They won’t get past rockets.

Imagine where they would be now if they didn't throw away the number 3 pick in the draft on Jahlil "Mr. Softee"Okafor in 2015, one more in a long line of Blue Devil busts.

As I said before, W's didn't need that game, Jazz did.   Regular season garbage time for the W's.  If I had to put my money on one team it would be them.

Cleveland looked like shit today even with the ref calls.   If they lose first round, gotta think Jame's is guaranteed to jump ship.

Was this the board with an all caps guy who thought every game his team lost was fixed? I miss him

lol Cavs - they looked pretty shit today

Yeah, but the warriors just overall weren’t that great this year.

While it's true that the Jazz blew out the Warriors last week, that game was just one final meaningless game after a month of meaningless games for the Warriors, a team filled with veterans who know exactly what the coming games mean, and how to play them.

The Warriors may have holes on their bench and could certainly be beaten this year, especially by Houston who have been gearing up all season to beat them, but IMO it would be a mistake to write them off based on the way they played this past month, and maybe even most of the regular season.

Cavs worse looking team so far in the game 1s except the Heat.......maybe.

Only one game.....they lose the next one I'll be a little concerned.

Warriors looked good against a shitty Spurs team at home.......doesn't mean "their back ."

They should thank someone for who they are playing or they might be done after this series.

Bucks blow.......can't even beat a broke down Boston team.

Toronto certainly did not impress as neither did Washington (obviously).

76ers look the part for sure.

Can they play the part when they need to?

Looking forward to how it's all going to unfoldyes

Go Cavs!!!!!!!!!

My brother had 10k on the Jazz vs Warriors a couple weeks ago.  He made his bet early before Draymond Green was sick. It was an easy win and easy money. The Oracle arena is awful place for games.  It is packed like sardines and the food and drink lines are ridiculously long.

This OKC vs Utah game is a good matchup so far.

Go Rockets289980d5e1669c751a748f045662575d.jpg

Cavs looked absolutely terrible. Lebron looked old. Might be an early exit for them.

James didn't look old. His teammates were absolutely horrendous!!!!!!

But yeah, if they play like they did today they are toastcrying

I'm going to guess that will not be the case.

Rockets not looking too good tonight......so far.....or I should say not as dominant.

OKC.....looked good. George was killing it!!!!

Did the TWolves just become the Chicago bulls from 5 years go? Crazy.

Haha.

Strange game tonight.

Close game, but it's a win.  23 more to go!

Go Rockets!!

15 more to go Rob for the Rockets and any team who won their first game.

Only need 16 to win the title.

Silly wabbits

wait till the fat lady sings

but go for it, dreams are free

Rose, Gibson, Crawford, tibidoh, Butler, rose. Seriously, all they need is Deng

Nope....they don't need Deng.   ;)

Nice post Lance, these are exactly the comments we need around here to lure Stever back.

Go Sixers, Go Rockets..

Cant believe the caps are down 0-2.

Houston has looked great all season, but when they beat the Warriors, GS didn't play defense and shot well below their average, yet it took everything Houston had to pull away, so I don't think it's going to be a one sided series if they do end up playing each other the Western Finals.

As for getting there, the Warriors have somehow managed to go into the playoffs fairly rested, get the easiest team (for them) in the first round, AND avoid the OKC/Utah bracket.

Something else people who don't watch Warriors games might not realize is that their young players have gotten a ton of playing time and have matured nicely in the absence of their injured stars, and their biggest star is getting better and better with each passing day.  The last time Curry came off a long stint on the DL he was the player of the month... tired legs have traditionally been what's lowered his (and Klay's) average, so it's not inconceivable that they'll both put up very good numbers.

While the Warriors definitely have some older bench players that tend to wear down playing the denser regular season schedule, those guys are built for extra days between that the playoffs bring.

It has been a weird year for them, so I wouldn't be all that surprised to see them fall short, but it would be foolish to bet against them (though I encourage everyone to keep saying they're done... they always play their best when everyone counts them out!).

GO WARRIORS!!!

I still can't see Houston beating the Warriors even with home court.

Who knows?

Like I said, they got lucky in the fact they play the Spurs in the first round with Curry out.

Any other team could have giving them serious problems without Curry in the first round.

>>>they got lucky in the fact they play the Spurs in the first round with Curry out<<<

I doubt this is what actually happened, but the Warriors are a pretty savvy bunch so I also won't say it's categorically impossible that they tanked their final regular season game against Utah to assure that they wouldn't face the super-hot Jazz in the first round.

>>> it would be foolish to bet against them<<<

It sounds like Rob M's brother might have something to say about that... "My brother had 10k on the Jazz vs Warriors a couple weeks ago"

That particular bet against the Warriors must have worked out well.

BTW, does anyone else think Rob's brother may have a gambling problem?

^^^

Not sure about a gambling problem but bigger balls then I have!

I'm also not that well to do to where I could afford to lose that kind of money. Lol.

((((poor folk))))

Why would you put that kind of money on a regular season strash game against a super hot team?    Silliness

My brother gambles for a living.  He has done the World Series of poker main event several times and finishes in the money.  Not my thing, but he has good info on the analytics and uses that when betting on sports.

Rockets didn't look so good the other night, but we got this.  Our best defensive player is out til st least the 2nd round.

Professional gamblers are IMO total balls-out people (and a little crazy too) and Rob, if I'm not mistaken you're the guy who kayak's way out in the ocean, which is to me also totally balls-out (and a little crazy too) so more power to both your brother & you.

Tonight's Warriors game was more of a grind; the Spurs played much better and the Warriors weren't as locked in to start, but they came out determained in the second half and took care of business.

It's great to see Klay Thompson doing so well offensively, and if he can keep that up after Steph comes back the Dubs will be difficult to beat. They have the defensive players, the ringer in Durant and they also have the experience of winning the biggest games, so if both Splash Brothers are splashing along with everything else, even with their holes they should take a good run at a 4th championship series.

I think everyone is hoping for a Houston/Warriors matchup in the western finals, and am I wrong in thinking that those two teams at full strength are the best two teams in the league?

Good luck to everyone else, but...

GO WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone tell the sixers that they cannot advance their draft position by tanking in the playoffs, play the pussy

Warriors and Houston the best? Your just looking for trouble with statements like that, Lance.

That was the worst game the Sixers have played in a month, and they still had a chance at the end. Heat played a good and very physical game.

I believe Embiid will play in game 3, Fabes.

>>.Rockets didn't look so good the other night, but we got this.

They have the series for sure....it was the T wolves night to steal one and they came up short.   Doubt that opportunity will come up again in Houston.

>>>.It's great to see Klay Thompson doing so well offensively,

Agreed,  he had lost his rythym a bit.....talk about timing.

>>>play the pussy

This probably needs to be the title of a separate thread.

Fabes...who are you putting your money on if it's not one of those two teams?

I guess it was my stab at a captain obvious post (not directed at lance), I agree it is Houston and the dubs, I am pulling for Houston but I think it will be the warriors, but I get off on watching Russell Westbrook, but he has no chance

>I believe Embiid will play in game 3, Fabes.

I believed he would played in game one, many a man have worn the mask and have gone back to work after that injury. He could possibly be one of the greatest big men to ever play, but we do not know with all of the time off. He has missed more games than trump has played rounds of golf at Marlago. Oh were those few years of Big Red's total dominance in portland a thing of beauty, and thank god he suited up for them all.

Embiid did not clear the NBA concussion protocol until Sunday.  Not playing him in game 2 was a management decision.

Embiid was not cleared to play back to back nights until February.

Joel Embiid hoping to play in back-to-back games by month's end

Ha ha...Rozier called Eric Bledsoe "Drew" and Eric got bent out of shape.

"I don't even know who the f--- that is," Bledsoe said.   Maybe Eric should re-watch this video of him getting abused to remember.

the pelicans..

Embiid will miss game 3

Have you heard an update?

Embiid, who is looking at a return to play following surgery to address a broken orbital bone on the left side of his face, will ultimately need final clearance from the surgical team responsible for performing the operation, per a source...

The Sixers listed Embiid as doubtful for Thursday's Game 3 shortly before the 5 p.m. Wednesday deadline to submit their official injury report

RIP Erin (Pop's wife)

Wow, how 'bout dem Jazz? And to survive a 19-0 run away from home?

The big three of OKC went "Ofer" from the floor in the fourth while Donovan was scoring 13 of his 20 second-half points. 42 points total for the big three.

Gobert and Favors, 33 points and 31 rebounds. Nice the Jazz got to show their potential on a nationwide broadcast. We'll see how OKC reacts. 5 games to go.

I was going to say the other day to watch Joe Ingles. Many times, as Ingles goes, so do the Jazz.

But this was a great team win. Quin had four players, Favors, Gobert, Mitchell, and Rubio at the press table.

And best wishes to Pop.

Ooops, make that 54 points total for the big three.

Nice game by Mitchell last night.

2 down, 14 more to go!!GO ROCKETS!!

920x920_5.jpg

Quin is clearly a coaching genius.  There are few people who could get this much out of that squad.

Nobody gave them much of a shot after Hayward left. But that opened the door for Mitchell to shine and he took advantage and surpassed all expectations.

Never would have had the year he did if Hayward was still here. Strong ROTY candidate.

Gobert being out much of the year, and Exum, lots of other injuries - yeah Quin's done a helluva job.

Agreed, it was a great opportunity for him.   I also think it doesn't hurt being in SLC where there are fewer distractions.

As Ingles goes, so do the Jazz - haha give me a break.

Awful news about Pop’s wife passing away. It’s too bad they had to play tonight, it would have been a good time for one of the NBA’s infamous 4 days between games instances.

Embid did not miss game 3. 24 pts. Big win. Pelicans looking great, would’ve loved to have been able to watch some of their games.

Big games from Embiid, Saric, Belinelli, and Simmons.

And that was a punk move by Justise Winslow.

Should have been given a technical

Wade made a punk move as well. Miami is just trying to get in their heads cause our team is young. The Heat just isn’t good enough to win without trying shake us up mentally. If we stoop down to their level like in game 2 though we can lose this series so Sixers have to come out and repeat last nights performance on Saturday.

>>>Embiid will miss game 3

i love how the 6ers fans are crawling out from under their rocks in a stever themed thread.

seems pretty apropo.

I don't believe Tom is a front runner. He's been hyping the Sixers for awhile.

Indeed, Slack. I've been a fan since McGinnis wore a Sixers uniform.

Last season I  mentioned that I am Sixers fan, but that there was not much to talk about, and that nobody was interested.

there was nothing to hype for a while.

glad they are enjoying themselves now though. those last 5 years must have been brutal.

I can understand as a persevering knicks fan.

sorry, I missed that mention. I do remember Lumber Truck consistently asking thom questions that never get answered though.

speaking of, i wonder who thom's favorite NBA team is? probably one of those white assed Celtics teams from back in the day.

It was likely in the Sports folder, across.

I mentioned it when I asked was asked why I continually called out nut kicker, Draymond Green, without mentioning my rooting interest.

I also started the "Trust the Process" thread in July, again in the Sports folder

And my condolences on the Knicks, tough road ahead

Oh yeah, forgot there are those sub folders here. i can just imagine the cobwebs in those.

if you (don't) notice, I don't discuss the knicks unless I have to, which I never do.

I will say that it was good Phila got the 3 seed as I think the C's will be an easier matchup in round 2 than the Raps would have been.

Did across really just use the word “apropo”? Guy is bringing out his 4th grade schoolgirl lingo for this thread. Impressive.

I bet that sun feels good to you rock dwellers.

Sixer fans getting all erect on struggling with Miami? Who does Miami have other than 40 year old Wade and the old white guy at Guard? Oh yea some guy named Justice

Miami won game two, that will be the last game they win in this series.

Go Sixers, Go Rockets.

Damn, Fabes,  you don't have to be bitter because you've been all wrong about Embiid

>>>called out nut kicker, Draymond

I always wondered if it was simply East Coast bias, or because Draymond isn't an offensive superstar that prompted you to single him out.

In any event, this was from last year's finals...

lebrongoinkick_2.jpg

OC, you mad?

Na, not mad. You're criticism of Embiid is misplaced. The sixers organization is responsible for the minutes restrictions and the restriction on back to back games. Like I wrote,  Embiid was under the NBA concussion protocol until the day before game 2. He was not medically cleared until game 3, but only if he wore the mask and lens.

And like I wrote, this team has exceeded my expectations. I'm just enjoying the ride.

Googly, I admit that Green is far from the only offender. It was the frequency of the incidents, and his nonsense excuse that his wild leg flailings were unintentional.

*your criticism

And the Sixers were, and still may be, rattled by how physical the heat have played. They may not be able to beat a better team who plays them as physical as the heat have. Heck, they could still lose to the heat. First playoff experience for much of the squad. Part of the process.

Cavs are done!!!!!!!!!!crying

Stick a fork in 'emno

Go Sixersyes

They single Draymond out because they fear him.

They single him out because he is a multi time offender, fluffers

>They single out Draymond out because they fear him.

You're right, I'm afraid he's going to kick somebody in the nuts, yet again.

Afternoon game today. Fucking kids better not have been out partying last night.

76ers are slipping.  The Heat look like they are going to tie the series up at 2-2

This game reminds me of many of the Sixers early season losses.

Can't turn the ball over this many times and win

The heat lost this game at the line.

Only bright spots for the Sixers were Simmons' triple double, seven players in double figures, and a 3-1 series lead.

Road games like that, it doesn’t matter how you get it done. They got the job done now it’s a commanding 3-1 lead. Two big wins on the road in a difficult place to play. Time to stick th fork in em back home.

I missed the end cause went out and did yardwork.  Rockets need to sweep the Timberwolves.

Rockets are playing like shit today.  There goes the sweep unless they pull off a miracle in the last 2 minutes

Some close games yesterday.   Most of them could have gone either way with many of them having some good or bad luck (banked in last second threes, or 5 missed layups in the first two minutes).

I'm glad the Spurs could win one for Pop.....that city and team needed that win.   They won't win the series but they won't forget that game.

Sure nice watchin' the Jazz smoke OKC. I hope they take game 5 in OKC by 15-20 just to rub it in to Westbrook and Melo in front of their fans.

I hope you are right but I wouldn't count OKC out yet.   One game at home can change momentum and if they steal gave six assuming (they win 5) I wouldn't bet on the Jazz.

That said, Mitchell is calm and cool for a rookie.   Tatum, Simmons, Mitchell plus a few others...it's been a good rookie class.

Agreed Zang. Not counting them out, just hoping.

Okc is done. Westbrook getting outplayed and drying and whining about it. A rookie is out scoring threes guys who have been in the league for a long time. Shits embarrassing.

Anyone been watching the Pelicans?  I knew that Anthony Davis was fantastic, but DAYUM!!!  Sweeping Blazers and no Cousins?  Warriors should be worried...

Is there an easy way to watch these games live without cable?  I'm pretty much catching hoops via old-school radio, which means I'm just listening to the Warriors.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

OKC is suffering from the curse of Mello. Guy's an overpaid dog.

George is kinda getting that same trademark. Gets his money and goes home every year in the playoffs.

Ingles is getting under George's skin. He's an absolute pain in the ass for the other team. Always yapping, just bugging the piss out of people. A guy who's face you'd like to punch.

And then when he goes off hitting threes, he turns into a critical piece for the Jazz. He was having a great time last night, and rubbing it in.

Last couple of games have showed how pivotal he can be. When he's on, he adds so much. When he's off, they struggle. But he always finds a way to contribute.

Yeah, I know, same could be said for most any player. But for the Jazz, Ingles is kinda that bellwether player.

I read the OKC paper today. Westbrook didn't have much to say. Sounds like Billy D is admitting George is going the wrong way on some defensive assignments and leaving people open.

>>Is there an easy way to watch these games live without cable?  I'm pretty much catching hoops via old-school radio, which means I'm just listening to the Warriors.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sbnation.com/platform/amp/nba/2018/4/14...

>>>Sounds like Billy D is admitting George is going the wrong way on some defensive assignments and (is) leaving

Fixed that for ya.

OKC is just kinda getting their asses whooped in that series. A loss tonight at home to lose the series would be bad. You know melo don’t wanna go back to Utah tho

Hey, thanks for the advice, Rob and Bucky.

What a strange game. Back to Utah.

Cleveland pulled it out, but that looked like goaltending to me. I wonder why it wasn't reviewed?

Cause they didn't blow the whistle and the pacers were complaining about a foul instead of the goal tend.    Here is where the NBA completely fails....they'll issue the post ref report in a day saying how it was goal tending and they made the wrong call.   And then you wonder, what am I supposed to do with that information. Basically the game was altered by a bad call and the NBA admits it but nothing will change.   If they are going to issue the report they should have repercussions in some format.     This is my round about way of saying...they shouldn't issue the report.

If they counted that basket, Cleveland still wins by 1, but I totally agree the report isn't needed unless some kind of action is taken to resolve the mistake.

NBA season isn't over yet?  The reason that I say that is there's been SO much crying and whining about the Cavs and Lebron since the alllstar break.  Just let it all play out.

Sorry guys, it wasn't goaltending. Ball needs to be above the rim (when it hits the backboard) to be called or a chance for a bucket to be made.

Anyway, a nice Cavs win.

Hooper your wrong see section e.

RULE NO. 11-BASKETBALL INTERFERENCE-GOALTENDING
Section I-A Player Shall Not:
a. Touch the ball or the basket ring when the ball is using the basket ring as its lower base.
EXCEPTION: If a player near his own basket has his hand legally in contact with the ball, it is not a violation if his contact with the ball continues after the ball enters the cylinder, or if, in such action, he touches the basket.
b. Touch the ball when it is above the basket ring and within the imaginary cylinder.
c. For goaltending to occur, the ball, in the judgment of the official, must have a chance to score.
d. During a field goal attempt, touch a ball after it has touched any part of the backboard above ring level, whether the ball is considered on its upward or downward flight.
e. During a field goal attempt, touch a ball after it has touched the backboard below the ring level and while the ball is on its upward flight.
f. Trap the ball against the face of the backboard. (To be a trapped ball, three elements must exist simultaneously. The hand, the ball and the backboard must all occur at the same time. A batted ball against the backboard is not a trapped ball.)
g. Touch any live ball from within the playing area that is on its downward flight with an opportunity to touch the basket ring. This is considered to be a "field goal attempt" or trying for a goal.
h. Touch the ball at any time with a hand which is through the basket ring.
i. Vibrate the rim or backboard so as to cause the ball to make an unnatural bounce.
PENALTY: If the violation is at the opponent's basket, the offended team is awarded two points, if the attempt is from the two point zone and three points if it is from the three point zone. The crediting of the score and subsequent procedure is the same as if the awarded score has resulted from the ball having gone through the basket, except that the official shall hand the ball to a player of the team entitled to the throw-in. If the violation is at a team's own basket, no points can be scored and the ball is awarded to the offended team at the free throw line extended on either sideline. If there is a violation by both teams, play shall be resumed by a jump ball between any two opponents at the center circle.

>>>Sorry guys, it wasn't goaltending.

Sorry Hoops, the NBA disagrees with you.

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/23327614/lebron-james-cleveland-caval...

>>>If they counted that basket, Cleveland still wins by 1

Disagree.  If they counted the basket it's likely that a different defensive and offensive strategy would have been implemented.   Can't predict something that didn't happen.

Rob, pulling out the rule book!

Will you all start referring to the rim as the ring now?

The ball hit the backboard 1st5ae13ec619ee864b008b470f-750-375.jpg

Lebron, cavs, hah, last night was all about Russel the Muscle

OC congrats on your round 1 advance, now tell them sixers to get their shine box, celts in 6

Sweet! I'm in for the Warriors/Pelicans Game 1 on Saturday night, and Curry practiced today and they're saying that if he responds well tomorrow he may play in that first game (I do believe they'll need him to win that series) which would make that game even more fun.

GW!

BTW, I actually did see stever at TxR the other night. He's heard about this thread but said he hasn't looked at it, and I couldn't convince him to come back and participate.

But he's still rooting hard for the Dubs.

Won't be the last time I'm wrongyes

Either way, Cavs still won!

At the other end the ball hit the line off the pacers tho, so I guess the no call was a make up call for Cavs. Regardless, too many blown opportunities for the pacers in the last two games. Gave Lebron hope and he made me pay for it. I could see it going 7 but I think lebron at home gets the job done. Man I hope Anthony Davis bitch slaps Durant. Hoping for a clean sweep.

Celtics have to get there first. They look terrible right now.

Also would like to see NO get passed the Warriors.

I just don't think it will happen.

>>>NO get passed the Warriors<<<

The Warriors will be like a kidney stone to NO!

Thanks, Fabes.

Are you predicting the Celtics over the Sixers in six? Or did you believe that the Celts would close out last night?

I think Davis is gonna blow by Green. That guy can’t gaurd him at all. Man, really hope the bucks take that series. Boston didn’t look like they wanted it last night.

NO is done....

Curry full practice yesterday. Questionable for game 1 tomorrow!

Go Warriors!!!

Celts win at home...but yes they look shaky as hell.   If they make it out of this series that's probably it.

Lebron wins on the road, the fire has been squashed from Indi and the NBA loves Lebron too much.   Who predicted the Cavs would win the finals a few years back against the dubs?  That guy understood the inner workings of the NBA.

I think they should hold curry out of game one.   Better for him to be healthy for the remainder than risk forcing him to come back too early.  Even if they lose home court advantage I don't see the Dubs losing this series.   There will be fights.

I'm curious to see how Javale plays against AD (if that's how they match up).  Javale has really impressed me over that last first round.

I've been lucky to catch two Warriors/Pelicans matchups live in the Oracle Arena (probably because those tix were cheaper than some other games).  AD was, of course, impressive from all parts of the court.  But he was nothing like the guy I witnessed playing against the Blazers.  Also, the supporting cast for him looked top notch during their first round (Cousins who?).  Well, having Cousins out should make it a little less crazy for the Dubs under the boards.

Looking forward to this series to start.

Very excited to see pelicans/warriors. Has a lot potential. Man if Celtics blow it at home that would be embarrassing for the coach.

There will be fights>>>>

I’d say advantage Pelicans ever since ADs second stage of metamorphisis

I don't think anyone can really guard Anthony Davis. The Warriors will just try to harass him as much as possible and make him work for his points.

It will likely be a number of different Warriors who will get that bummer of an assignment, but I think that Durant will get a major dose of that job. Durant's defense has improved a lot since he joined the Warriors and he seems to play his best defense when guarding superstars like Davis, and he's got the length and athleticism to hang with that monster.

But Davis is going to be great no matter who guards him; to win the series the Warriors are going to have to score a ton of points, hold the rest of the birds back and look to wear them down with their deeper bench, which means they'll need good scoring from their bench. The Warriors have bench guys who can score, but that's something that's been hit-&-miss this season so those guys will really need to play well, which would hopefully continue to keep that pretender Nick Young ON the bench, where he belongs.

Apparently Curry practiced in a full scrimmage this afternoon. They're being very coy about his status, but reports say that he wasn't wearing a knee brace so I would imagine that if he's feeling good tomorrow he will be activated and at least used off the bench.

Curry hasn't played at all in five weeks and hasn't played much at all since before that because of his ankle problems, so his conditioning will likely be an issue, but they're going to need him so I'd be surprised if he isn't in uniform the minute they think he can play safely, even if he isn't 100% and plays limited minutes early in the series.

GW!!!

What was up with Westbrook and the fan? Did Westbrook throw a punch?

I didn't catch it.

From what I saw, it looked like the guy was videoing Westbrook on the way out after the game. Kinda being a dick and getting his phone in his face - too close for Westbrook's liking.

Westbrook had another run in with a fan who was barking at him, maybe at the end of the half. Not sure - just saw a replay and it was a different fan.

Too bad about Rubio's hammy. Hope it comes around. Quin will have to pull a lot of rabbits out of his hat to win this next series.

From the SL Tribune for tomorrow's edition.

Westbrook, who scored 46 points on 18 of 43 shooting, spewed more venom at Jazz fans in the postgame news conference.

“Uh, I didn’t confront the fans. The fans confronted me,” said Westbrook when asked about the incidents. “Here in Utah, a lot of disrespectful, vulgar things are said to the players here with these fans. They are truly disrespectful, talking about your families, your kids. It is a disrespect to the game and I think it is something that needs to be brought up.”

Westbrook gave terse, one-sentence answers to most of the questions, but on this particular one he wasn’t finished.

“I am tired of just going out and playing and letting the fans just say what the hell they want to say,” he continued. “I am not with that. Because if I was on the street, they wouldn’t come up and say anything. I don’t play that sh--t. So I just think they are disrespectful and they can do whatever they want to do … especially here in Utah.”

Westbrook had 15 points on 7 of 15 shooting in the first half as the game was tied at 41 at halftime, when a bearded Jazz fan apparently said enough to get him to stop and retort.

After the game, as confetti dropped from the ceiling on the sellout crowd of 18,306, a different fan stuck a cell phone in the star’s face, then Westbrook made the swipe.

About the last play non-call......

Referee Ron Garretson told a pool reporter after the game that Gobert didn’t foul George.

“Rudy Gobert jumped to the right of Paul George. Our determination was Rudy would not have made contact with Paul had [Paul] not jumped sideways into Gobert’s legal space. We determined this to be a non-call,” Garretson said.

Sounds like they got in his head. Must be frustrating to lose to a team led by a rookie. Better luck next year.

I wonder if Donovan sticks around.   Weren't there ugly rumors of him leaving earlier in the season (fired)?   If I was OKC, there would be some serious thought into next season.   If they can't get past the first round with George I'd probably let him go.   Take your hit on Melo's player option and reset.  But you also need to keep Westbrook happy.  I tend to think they are screwed for the foreseeable future.

Will be interesting see what happens in Game seven for the Cavs.   Is Love's wrist in decent enough shape?

Going to be a hell of an offseason and we're not even there yet.

Thanks for the Westbrook infoyes

#1 - Melo says coming off the bench next year won't happen.

"I'm not sacrificing no bench role. So that's out of the question," Anthony told reporters, according to ESPN's Royce Young.

"As far as being effective as that type of player," he added, "I don't think I can be effective as that type of player."    I'm sure he just wants OKC to get their $28 million worth.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba/carmelo-coming-off-bench-next-seaso...

#2 The Jazz are saying Rubio's out 10 days. We'll see. Could be pre-series psych. If true, good luck Jazz. Slim chance just got slimmer.

#3 The guy who had the end-of-game run-in with Westbrook did a TV interview. Saw his phone video. Obviously too close to Westbrook's face. Says he didn't curse. Still rude in my book.

22 point Victory, DUBS!!! Without #30 Curry....

25 of 27 against NO.....

13 home game playoff winning streak... 5th all time in the NBA....

Warriors unbeatable when Dray #23 gets a triple double.....

GO Warriors!!!

22 point Victory, DUBS!!! Without #30 Curry....

25 of 27 against NO.....

13 home game playoff winning streak... 5th all time in the NBA....

Warriors unbeatable when Dray #23 gets a triple double..... 26th career triple double tonight

IMHO Draymond is the greatest Swiss Army Knife player in NBA history....

GO Warriors!!!

Pelicans looked bad last night. Hopefully the warriors don’t continue their tap dance to a championship this year.

Fabes, the Celts had their hands full with the Greek Freak, how the hell are they going to beat the United Nations?

Sixers in six.

^ Sixers in Six sounds about right. Game one monday

I agree Jazz will be taken to test against the Rockets.   Should be interesting to see how it plays out ....4 game sweep or is their more lasting power.    I tend to think Rockets in 5 or 6 which is basically saying nothing.

I'm slowly coming around ot the sixers.   This has less to do with them and more ot do with both the Cavs and the Celts going to game seven in the first round.   East is wide open.

Dubs just flexed a little muscle.    And while Dray and Durant are what makes this team run without curry, I think the difference maker was Thompson.   He's an even more streaky shooter than before due to Durant being on the team but if he's on, I think the W's are unstoppable.   The other members are much more consistent in their game to game play.

I think pelicans got out classed last night. Expect a closer game in game 2 but still think GS goes up 2-0. Pelicans don’t have the perimeter Shooting to keep it up it seems.

Go Cavsyes

Just watching the Rockets game and although all scorers clear out with their off arm, Harden does this way way more than others dono

Last series against the Wolves he was ridiculous doing this. Dude would be fouled out halfway through the 1st period if they called it all the time.

LeBron would last until 2nd quarter I'm guessing.smiley

Sixers did not look that good tonight.

It's just one game. Lose next one pressure starts to mount.

It'll be fun to watch!

I have to give the Celtics some credit. They could have folded with all their injuries.

Coached extremely well. Next man up and those players are getting the job done. For now.

Celtics shot the ball very well. Sixers missed more threes than I’ve seen this year. I expect a much better second game. Unfortunately, the threw day layoff isn’t going to help the Sixers. They need to be literally shooting threes and free throws from now until tip time on Thursday.

Sixers were 5-26, 19.2% from 3 pt.

Curry enters the game and immediately drains a 3-pointer!

Welcome back!

Steph.

Good grief.

There are still people who look to minimize this guy?

GO DUBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully NO doesn't roll out a big turd tonight!

Make it competitive in the 4th at least.

Go Cavs!!!!!

Got lucky tonightyes

Like they say.....a win is a win.......

Damn! I'm exhausted and I'm watching from a hotel room!

THAT is some up-tempo basketball.

THAT is some entertaining sport.

GO WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I'm off to see Neil Young with his old mates Crazy Horse. What a cool night this is.

GW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That last post was made at halftime, just before going out to the show.

(FUCKING GREAT SHOW!!!!)

Sounds like it continued to be a good game.

Warriors win.

Curry excels.

Far out.

Man both these teams play fast.

GW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cavs/raptors was a good game.

haven't been watching much...

Celts will be all up in that sixer ass again. NBA coaches play checkers celts coach plays chess

You're funny, Fabes. Celts better keep pressuring the 3 ball. I wouldn't expect the Sixers to shoot 19% from 3 again.

What is Simmons shooting percentage behind the arc?

0.0

lol, say Stever 3 times and 2Dank appears.

That's right, Fabes, Simmons has never missed a three.

If you want to consider a meaningful stat, Belinelli only attempted two three pointers in game one. Celts did a great job pressuring the 3 ball.

OC, Never missed?, he was 0-12 in the regular season. Break out that jj card next, and I will trump it.

Don't remember seeing him attempt any. I can't recall seeing him take a shot from more than 10 feet, except maybe chucking it up to beat the buzzer and free throws.

If Steven's is such a chess player, why did it take 7 games to beat the bucks? And why did the Celts have the forth best record in the league, despite playing in the east?

Celts are up 1-0, so settle down there.

Harden can’t gaurd the rookie. Prob too concerned about his next gq cover while Mitchell’s blowing right by his ass.

Entertaining game tonight.

Jazz played a heck of a game.

Really enjoyed it.

Lot of folks in Utah sure enjoyed it. It was a good game, back and forth, the result in doubt til the end.

Ingles answers the call again. Jazz were resilient, Quin did a great job.

Those calls Hardin gets are BS. Who is he anyway? MJ? And what a cheap-ass player.

*fourth best...

Fabes, you didn't answer my question from 4/27...

Were you predicting the Celts over the bucks in 6, or was that a Sixers/Celts prediction?

ha ha fuck 'antoni whiny ass bitch.

Celts in 6 vs sixers was what I was referring to at the time, OC. I actually thought the celts had already beat the bucks when I threw that out, so as you can tell I am no genius or follow each game. I have been watching more hockey than nba this year, which it is usually reversed in most years

Go Jazz!  I'd love to see them go far (maybe farther than Stockton and the Mailman?).  If not this year, maybe in a couple.

Warriors have had a tough time against the Jazz this year, so if the Warriors advance, that seems like a scary matchup (not that they have done well against the Rockets this year, either).

never thought i'd root for utah...

>>"Warriors have had a tough time against the Jazz this year, so if the Warriors advance, that seems like a scary matchup (not that they have done well against the Rockets this year, either)."<<<

Regular season is meaningless....

Also the Warriors team only played 42 games together. The other 42 games someone was injured IE: KD, Curry, Green, Thompson......

Here comes, back to back Championships!!!!

Go Warriors!!!!

OC, does Stevens shut down the three ball and let Embiid run wild or does he mix it up from the game one strategy?

I'd continue to deny the three.

I say he mixes it up, watching pens vs caps though

Redick 5/6 13 pts in first quarter

There is no team in sports that I dislike more than the penguins

Worse loss than the first one.

Should have left Simmons on the bench

Tough loss for the Sixers.

Growing pains of moving up the ladder in the NBA.

Still could happen this year.....but I say 2 more before a serious contender for the Title.

I'm the biggest Cavs fan but honestly I can't see any team remaining in the East giving either the Warriors, Rockets, or Jazz a hard time in the Finals.

I'm excluding NO because I just can't see them beating the Warriors with Steph back. I could be wrong? I don't think the Jazz will win the series but I was very impressed with how they played in game 2.

Ol jj red dick, if he scores 20 the guards on the other team score 40. A total washout of floor space. He is though everything Steve Alford should of been.

Fabes, much like your criticism of Embiid, you are off the mark with this one. Redick has been solid on D this year. Sixers finished 3rd in team defense, with Redick on the court about 28-33 minutes per game. Redick lead all scores last night with 23.

IMO the game was lost when McConnell was pulled for Simmons with about 5 minutes left in the game, and the terrible finish in the first half didn't help.

That last play where Embid totally gave up o the ball was pathetic man. Go up and at least foul the guy. Jeez. Garbage. Sixers pretty much have to win four straight. Luckily 3 out of the next four games are in Philly but it’s pretty doubtful looking. A game 7 on Boston is the last thing they want to see. If they even get to game 6 at this point I’d be impressed

Rosier, Smart and Brown and Larkin = 54 points jj and sixer guards 34 points

tatum is legit.

Fabes, your math is incorrect

Simmons 1

Redick 23

McConnell 8

Belinelli 11

That's 43.

Blaming Redick is ridiculous. Simmons is to blame.  1 pt, 5 TO.

I am not blaming red dick I am just pointing out that he negates any number of points he throws up vs. his shitty non athletic white guy defense he provides. He is fools gold

Yet the Sixers were the 3in the conference and 5th in the league in defense with Redick playing 70 games 30.2 mpg.

So you are saying that jj is an all nba defensive player? Do you watch the games and see the guys driving by him and his ole Mexican bull fighter defense? The guy is a liability, but I agree he was a great pick up for sixers for this year. They need to replace him though next year if they want to beat teams like Boston. I actually think though that they could get by the Cavs this year, but not Boston. They will have to really upgrade to compete with Boston next year with Kyrie and Gordon back

And third in the Eastern conference is nothing to hang your hat on, there are only 4 decent teams in the east including the sixers, not good but just decent teams.Boston is the only team with a roster (if healthy) that could compete with western teams like Houston, the dubs

The Clippers found this out. His only real value would be coming off of the bench as a spark plug scorer against second team players that he could possibly guard. JJ as a starter is there so white people will have some comfort in cheering for a white guy and fill some seats

Redick is basically Korver...better has a 7th player, 2nd off the bench when you need some deep scoring.   Agree he's useless on defense.   I'm impressed he's been able to keep himself in the pros after a shaky start so I give him credit.

Playoff Lebron is back.   Just carries a pile of crap on his back and brings home a win.   No matter what you think of him, the dude is impressive.

Go Mormons!   Not sure how the Utah won in Houston.   They keep defying odds.   If Houston loses the next one do they go into panic mode.....(Paul, Harden, D'antiooooooooo).  There is history with a lack of success in the playoffs for this threesome.

>So you are saying that jj is an all nba defensive player?

Didn't say that. I said he was solid on D this year.  Please don't try to attribute some ridiculous point to me.

>Do you watch the games and see the guys driving by him and his ole Mexican bull fighter defense?

No, I see him trying to fight through screens most times. He does not guard the ball handler, that's for Simmons or Covington. Belinelli is a much bigger liability on D.

 >They will have to really upgrade to compete with Boston next year with Kyrie and Gordon back

Absolutely. But they are a young team. This is their first go round in the playoffs.

>And third in the Eastern conference is nothing to hang your hat on

5th in the league.

1. Houston

2. Toronto

3. Golden State

4. Boston

5.Philadelphia

> JJ as a starter is there so white people will have some comfort in cheering for a white guy and fill some seats

That's an idiotic statement.

Redick was signed and starts because Simmons needs to be surrounded by shooters. Simmons has no outside shot.

>>>>Playoff Lebron is back.   Just carries a pile of crap on his back and brings home a win.   No matter what you think of him, the dude is impressive.

^This.  Amazing.

does he play for boston?

OC if you won’t listen to me listen to Zang, another zoner, like myself, who fully understands what the nba game is about.

Fabes, I watached 50-60 sixers' games this year. I am commenting on Redick's role on the sixers for the 2017-2018 season.

skyjunk fabes on Thursday, May 3, 2018 – 12:15 pm

>so as you can tell I am no genius or follow each game.

>OC if you won’t listen to me listen to Zang, another zoner, like myself, who fully understands what the nba game is about.

You've come a long way in the last 25 hours.

I am no genius, this is basic stuff I am telling you.

and Just because I no longer watch a ton of games does not mean I do not know nba talent

i understand your enthusiasm, I mean how many years has it been since your leadership taught the culture of losing to your young team?

>I am no genius, this is basic stuff I am telling you.

and Just because I no longer watch a ton of games does not mean I do not know nba talent

I understand Redick is weak on D. I also understand how he plays in the Sixers system, and his D has not been an issue this season. Turnovers, poor shot selection, and inexperience have been the Sixers biggest problems this year.

And I was referring to your silly statement about you, "fully understanding what the NBA game is about."

>I mean how many years has it been since your leadership taught the culture of losing to your young team?

That would be the Sixers leadership. They do not ask for my input.

Longest tenured player on the current Sixers roster is Covington, with 4 years with the team.  Beyond that, it is meaningless.

https://sports.yahoo.com/steve-kerr-draymond-were-different-002411584.html

>>“Let’s be honest — if Draymond were on a different team, nobody at Oracle would like him,” Steve Kerr said on KNBR 680 on Wednesday. “Nobody on our team would like him. He’s the ultimate irritant. He’s the ultimate antagonist.

“And when he’s on your team — oh man do you love him. He competes so hard and he generates so much energy and competitive desire. He brings this edge to the game. We would not have a single championship without Draymond. I know that. He’s such a huge factor for us in every series because of his versatility.

“But he’s just one of those guys who no matter what happens, there’s gonna be a lot of stuff going on. And I love it — we need that.”<<<

So true! We Love Dray! You'll hate him!!! :)

Tonight we put a 3rd nail in NO!!!! Then the sweep!!!!

Just a little bit longer to 3 Championships in 4 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

>“Let’s be honest — if Draymond were on a different team, nobody at Oracle would like him,”<

nut kicking loud mouth bitch.

he is good though. can't deny it.

if i was an opposing coach, i am wasting fouls from my lamest white bench player and fucking with him. dude is a time bomb.

"if i was an opposing coach, i am wasting fouls from my lamest white bench player and fucking with him. dude is a time bomb."

Sounds like a good strategy!!!

I know you'd love him as a LA Faker, Turd-L! :)~

^^That’s a pretty decent strategy, actually.

uh, yeah.

i'd love to see him try his bullshit against charles oakley...

I'd like to see Green try it with James Johnson

Lol at the dude who said Boston has any real chance against the west.

Yeah....NO CHANCE!

All this talk about the Sixers and Boston is making me laugh.

Apparently none of you know anything about basketball and LBJ. Guy is the man and will get out of the East.

All you up and coming teams fans need to realize your teams aren't shit until you defeat Cleveland in the East! Or i should say James if he moves to another team in the East after this year.

Your time will come eventually. Just not yet. James has a few good years left!

But like I said....NO team in the East has a chance at beating the Warriors. I think Houston won't stand much of a chance against the Warriors even with home court.

well this isn't going well tonight... 90-65 right now NO

we have failed to match their intensity

Damn they be drilling 3's like they are us!!!!

Oh well just means we win in 5 games instead of the sweep I was hoping for....

Looks like being home with some pressure has the Jazz looking like a deer in headlights. Houston's playing really well and the Jazz are stinking up the joint.

Glad I didn't pay $139 for an upper deck seat to this one. At least you get a t-shirt.

>>>dude is a time bomb<<<

Yeah, people just continue to under-estimate the guy.

^you're right, Green continues to prove that he more of an asshole than I had originally thought.

76ers=processed

Man. When did all these idiot's who have no clue what they're talking about show up on this thread?

Guess I should have been monitoring the thread closer.

Bye Phili Phans.....

That should clean this thread up. Since it really is a WARRIORS thread!

Jr,

My point exactly!

Too many dreamers.

Reality is tough sometime.

Oh yeah......

Go Cavs!!!!!

OC, now you see why I am no genius, although I pretty much pegged this series on talent and coaching, I was a bit off on my Celts in 6 prediction. I am a little off this season from watching too much hockey, and getting conned by my wife to watch some This is Us bullshit show. Hooper I got my eyes set on you next on this Cavs vs Celt series coming up

Philly should of stuck with the process another year or two, and they were damn good at it.

Fabes, turnovers, poor shot selection/ poor decisions have led to the last two sixers losses. This is a result of their inexperience. I've seen similar meltdowns a dozen times this season. And as I have stated a couple times, this team exceeded my expectations.

This is part of the process, Fabes. Embiid is 24, Simmons is 21, Saric is 24. This is their first trip to the playoffs, not their last.

Was at the game last night. Classic philly loss. I mean kinda hard to win when you’re throwing the ball to the other team half the time and missing du is and wide open lay ups. Season is most likely done but hey, one day a team will come back from 3-0. Will it be this series? Prob not, but it’ll happen one day.

I don't understand why Brown didn't call a timeout with 24 seconds left, the shot clock off, and the game tied . The Sixers had committed numerous boneheaded turnovers, so why not call timeout and set up a play?

^Brown did a lot of questionable things, IMO. Obviously he drew up a terrible play at the end when Simmons just threw it to the other team as well. Brown has been out coached every step of the way in this series

^ I agree that Brown was out coached, but on the last inbound Simmons made a bad pass and Embiid was not aggressive enough on the receiving end.

Skyjunk,

Cavs in 6!

Although if i was looking at it realistically I probably should want the Celts to win. They won't unfortunately.

Neither of these teams are going to beat the West!I

Heck, it could easily be a sweep no matter who comes out of the East.

But yeah.......bring itsmiley

It’s def Hard to win games when you pass the ball to the other team all night. I have noticed that Embid half assed some hussle plays.

Game 3's have been our Achilles' heel.. for 3 of the last 4 seasons

games 4's resounding rebound blowout games 90% of the time...

Bye, Bye NO on Weds night!!!!

GO WARRIORS!!!!

^^^

Yep

The cream rises to the top!!!!

Go Cavs!!!!!!!!

Guys I apologize I haven't been active in this thread. Fatherhood has really cut into my sports time.

I will be commenting once the conference finals begin. Somebody please send my regards to Stever. Thanks.

I've asked him to come join in on this thread but he declinedno

It's too  bad. One of the best times of the year!

Hooper, please let Stever know if he joins us for the Finals, I will personally guarantee his safety.

He has my word.

I will put the word out there!

Hopefully he'll come around for the Finalsyes

From what I know I wouldn't hold your breath.

Oh jeez.

Well, the Jazz had a nice season and have a good core to build on. Got farther than everyone thought they'd go when they were 19-28 after 47 games.

One game left, unless they go out real loose with nothing to lose and nab a victory, but I don't see it happening. Houston's way too strong.

I hope they do Slickrock.

Nice season indeed!

Good win Sixersyes

One more on Wednesday and those Celtics are going to tighten up a bityes

But yeah......nice season for the Sixers as wellyes

What a let down of a season for the raptors. Granted the Cavs look great right now, that’s embarrassing to get swept like that. Would have hoped for a more competitive series. They absolutely gave up after game one.

OC, you OK? You have not given up the ship already? Although I am getting closer to genius status with my Celts in 6 pick

As one who is not invested in the outcome of the Eastern Conference, I've really enjoyed the late-game drama, which belies the apparent one-sided "games won" numbers.

My condolences to those whose teams have suffered some painful losses over the last several days.

I'm looking forward to walking down to the corner bar tonight to cheer on the Warriors (or at least have a couple of beers and stumble back home under cover of darkness).

Go Warriors and Jazz!!!

Hooper, congrats on the Cavs advancing again.  As one who hasn't followed them much over the last few years (save the playoffs), I'm especially impressed how well Love has played this time around.  Wasn't he the one who seemed destined to be dumped from the team when times were tough?

>>>What a let down of a season for the raptors

Agreed.   They got owned in the worst way especially after the pacers took the cavs to 7.

>>>if i was an opposing coach, i am wasting fouls from my lamest white bench player and fucking with him. dude is a time bomb.

Enter Matthew Dellavedova

>>> Wasn't he the one who seemed destined to be dumped from the team when times were tough?

He's the scapegoat...not sure he's worthy of that title.   They don't use him properly most of the time.

>>>>Enter Matthew Dellavedova

Is he still on the Cavs???  Dude went to St. Mary's, so I have a slightly soft spot in my heart from him (that's minutes away from my kid's school).

Johnny D condolences are for dead people - Fuck the Losers

^Ha!

Delly is warming the bench on another team, no longer a cav.

Bill Cosby used to do a funny skit on how he was the guy on the basketball team that did not practice, and was only given a picture of the opponents best player, and his job was only to fuck that guy up during the game

He's on the bench for the bucks but was a helluva instigator.

We had a guy on or college soccer team from Ireland that would sucker punch the other team's best forward while the ball was on the other side of the field.   The refs would turn around and see the forward wailing on our player and the forward would get tossed.   It was a bold play but he pulled it three or four times.

I'm still here, Fabes. Been a little busy the past few days. Not giving up yet. If the Sixers can win game 5 in Boston, I believe it will go 7.

Don't pat yourself on the back too hard, hate to see you get hurt.

>>>i am wasting fouls from my lamest white bench player and fucking with him. dude is a time bomb<<<

That's exactly what that Rondo guy has been trying to do, both phyisically and with his incessant trash talking, and it hasn't worked. Fortunately his obvious dirty tactics of clearly stepping under Curry when he's coming down from a jump shot and reaching out trying to trip Green from behind hasn't hurt anyone. That Rondo guy is every bit as much a trash talker as Green, and from just the four games I've watched he's way more overtly "dirty" that Green has ever been.

As for actual goons, I doubt many will remember the 1975 finals with the Warriors vs the Washington Bullets. The Warriors were Rick Barry and a bunch of nobodies and yet they were about to sweep the excellent Bullets team, so in the 4th game the Bullets had a guy literally jumping onto Barry's back trying to entice the very excitable Barry to get into a fight and get kicked out of the game.

But just as Barry was about to fight back the Warriors head coach, Al Attles, raced in and started fighting the Bullets goon and HE got tossed instead of Barry.

Great coaching, and of course the no-name Warriors went on to win the game and the championship.

Tonight I'm looking forward to the Warriors hopefully finishing off NO so they can rest up and get on with the series that everybody has been waiting for all season, including the two teams that will play in it.

Houston vs Golden State in a best of seven should be pretty good battle.

GW!!!!!

i'm all for provocation. not injuring someone.

these playoffs are pretty boring.

y'all watching gs vs. pelicans?

zzz.

Johnny D

Yes, as zang said, Love has unjustly been the scapegoat the last few years.

Had a real tough series against the Pacers but has picked it up this passed series.

Thanks for the congrats on the Cavs advancing.

Hopefully we'll make it to the Finalsyes

The peliminaries are over Turtle.

Now it's the main act, the same way it was when the Magic Lakers vs the Larry Bird Celtics happened.

The series people knew was coming and have waited for.

It should be real good.

First round was def a lot better. Hopefully GS/Rockets should be a good long series. I’m taking rockets at home. Would like to see some new blood in the finals. Always liked Chris Paul, glad he has a chance to get to a finals.

So no suspension or fine for Rozier throwing a punch? What kinda shit is that? I’d respect this Sixers team a lot of they went into Boston and stole game 5.

Warriors in 6 maybe 5!!!

Then just give them the ring.....

The East is like a division below than the West!

GO WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone sees Stever at Oakland Coliseum give him a smile

When they're in that magic space and flowing like the grateful dead at its peak

The warriors are pretty damn good

look out below.  What's that Neil Young song, "like a hurricane" ?

Great review on that last Bakersfield show,  by the way Zooey. Me eyes got a bit moist

Ha Dan...

Yeah give them the ring like in '16? They'll be lucky to get past the Rockets. Lol. Although they should, Houston likes to choke as wellsmiley

Bunch of chokers!!!!!!!

They would have lost '15 if Kyrie didn't get hurt!

Last year they were definitely the best team.  I'll give you that muchno

Good game tonight Sixers. Nice season. Should be proud of yourself.

Go Cavs!!!!!!!

Tough loss last night. Very inconsistent officiating. Came down to Embiid, and he didn't get it done. Congrats to the Celts...Go Rockets!

>>>>They would have lost '15 if Kyrie didn't get hurt!

I'll give you that, but I'd argue that the Cav's wouldn't have won in '16, had Houston kept their floor dry for the Warriors in the first round.  Curry's avoidable injury led to a very uncharacteristically desperate run to the finals, ultimately contributing to Draymond's suspension in Game 5 of the Finals...

Certainly a complex series of "what if" events, but I'm sticking to my story.

Of course, if Curry (unanimous MVP) hadn't gotten injured, Warriors fans wouldn't have been treated to some glorious drama (Portland and OKC), but the negative stuff is what most will remember in the long run.

Regardless, Draymond Green can be called the Bill Buckner of the 2016 Finals.

I hated watching the Warriors playing the Rockets, even when they laughably choked.  Now I'm looking forward to more drama next week.

Go Warriors!

I said Coach Brown should be fired earlier, I retract that statement. He suffered thru the process and should be brought back just for putting up with that shit for the last half a decade

Celts in 7, Cavs win this if the can get a third player to score 16-20 per game. Lebron and Love will get theirs, but if they do not get another 16 from JR, Korver or someone else, then coach Stevens takes them out.

I am pretty pumped for the series we've been waiting for all year.

I never thought I would think any team would win 4 against a healthy Warriors squad but I kinda think Houston will do it--I can't believe I'm saying it.

What they've done all year has been kind of astonishing. I know that was the regular season and we're in a whole different galaxy now, but I think Houston can out special Oak--just make it so there are no injuries on either side--if that happens, this could be epic.

Oak is one of the most beautiful teams to watch in the Hx of sports and I can't say for sure who I'll be rooting for when the time comes but I think I'm going to be rooting for Houston this time around.

Apologies to my Bay area brethren.

Also apologies for being such a lousy zoner--it's just not as easy these days as it used to be.

Big love to the zoners.

Fabes, impressed you are going with the Celtics...but maybe they are the right choice.   Lebron still gets his 40 a night.   I agree the subs will have to step up as they did against Toronto but it was just a bad matchup for toronto.   Hortford, Tatum, Rozier vs Lebron, Love, and Korver...Seems to be an even match.  Still, Playoff Lebron brings something no one else will.   I say Cavs win.  Hope I'm wrong.

The warriors are gong to need Klay to step up.   Can he consistently deliver in four of seven games?   I'm not so sure.  I think the Rockets want it more than the Dubs but will that be enough to get them past the Dubs?  Not so sure.    Paul delivering in game seven shows promise.

Zang, I do think the Cavs have the edge,  if Boston had Kyrie and Haywood it would be all Boston in 5-6 games. I just want to be able to talk some shit with Hooper so booth of us have something to amuse our selves with.  The Celts with their D and coach do have a shot. The defense that Boston showed last series was impressive. Stevens picked a Mark and shut him down, very impressive what he has gotten out of  this depleted team all season long

>>>I think I'm going to be rooting for Houston this time around<<<

Oh great. Thanks for nothing.

>>>The warriors are gong to need Klay to step up. Can he consistently deliver in four of seven games<<<

The thing with Klay's offense is it can be sporadic, mainly because he busts ass 110% on defense and in other ways, so there are always going to be times where he is more Klank than Klay, but he absolutely will "deliver" in his overall game every game, which is usually enough.

I agree that when he is nailing his shots the Warriors are very close to unbeatable.

To my untrained eye much of the outcome will come down to Curry's knee and can he play close to 100% through a long series, and can their bench deliver at their best.

The Warriors don't have to play over their heads to win the series, but everyone will have to play at or near their best, and I think that's true for both teams.

Whoever wins, may injuries & the refs NOT be what decides the series.

GW!!!!

for houston to win, harden and c.paul need to be mental every night.

not sure they can do it.

gs has 3 of the very best shooters in the league. 1-2 guys can have off nights, no way all 3 do.

gs in 5.

zzz.

+ there ain't no D in 'antoni.

fuck that clown.

I know about how scary Harden and Paul are, but that Capela dude...I don't know much about him, but he has been kicking ass, IMHO, and I don't know how the Warriors are going to deal with him.  He fits in with the Rockets way better than Dwight Howard did.  Connects well with the guards for alley-oops, that's for sure.  In some ways, those dunks remind me of what Anthony Davis was doing against the Blazers, but Capela looks stronger.  Wonder if Looney can slow him down a bit?  Not sure who else will match up with him.

>>.Whoever wins, may injuries & the refs NOT be what decides the series.

Well said....but good luck with that thought.

>>>He fits in with the Rockets way better than Dwight Howard did

Doesn't everyone fit way better than Dwight Howard?   Dwight died the day Shaq left the league.   His competitive fire was gone and he's been a head case ever since.

>> the refs NOT be what decides the series...

In the league’s Last Two Minute Report on officiating in the late stages of the Celtics’ 114-112 triumph, the league said game officials missed two key calls against Boston.

Celtics center Aron Baynes should have been called for a shooting foul when Sixers big man Embiid attempted a game-tying layup with 14.6 seconds remaining.

The report said Baynes made “contact to Embiid’s arm that affects his shot attempt near the rim.”

The report also confirmed officials missed a travelling violation on Celtics guard Marcus Smart with 1.5 seconds remaining when he intercepted Ben Simmons’ desperation full-court pass from the opposite baseline.

That call would have given Philadelphia the ball back.

https://www.foxsports.com.au/basketball/nba/nba-publishes-l2m-report-det...

Not claiming that this decided the series, but there might have been a game six had the refs made the correct calls.

The two minute report helps no one.

They only issue a two minute report because a full game report would be embarrassing.

Two minute report

in my best Mexican accent “jajajajajajajaja”

wait, boston gets calls?

Cavs putting on a clinic on how to go on vacation earlyno

Just one game. Better not lose game 2 or series will be ovahhhhhhcrying

I haven’t seen Brad Stevens coach this well since he was at Butler. When Gordon Hayward went down at the start of the season all of the Celtics fans looked around and asked, “which white guy are we going to rally behind now?” and lo and behold, the answer was sitting on the bench the whole time. Right under their big racist noses. Looking like a nerd who should be working at Eli Lilly.

i knew there was no crying in baseball, but I didn't know there was whining in basketball.

Whining is mandatory in today’s NBA. It takes place after every foul call and after every drive to the basket. Take a look.

Solid showing from Boston today. They proved they have answers for the Cavs. Really looking forward to watching this series unfold.

^ Yeah, the Cavs have also proved to be streaky this year. Boston very well coached. I think game 2

is going to be much closer. I expect Lebron to pull it out. Boston has absolutely been the more consistent team all year round though and nobody has beat them on their home court yet this playoffs. Lebron is gonna have to do something special.

A bunch of guys brought over a new style of whining and crying to basketball as well. Now you have guys taking all types of new flops and head jerks to get fouls. Worst part of watching the game. Haven’t seen much in these playoffs though to be honest.

How a bout my Celtics?

Nice win for the Celts, they didn't even need the refs to help seal the victory  at the end.

> It takes place after every foul call and after every drive to the basket. Take a look. <

for sure.

>>.Whining is mandatory in today’s NBA.

Not sure it's as bad as soccer but it's bad.   Lebron spent so much time complaining that he left his teammates playing a 4 on 5.  Honestly, he seemed checked out for the game.   It wasn't going their way,  so might as well save energy for the next game.

>>> I expect Lebron to pull it out.

Keep it in your pants Bronny.

I don't put much value in one game.  While Cleveland was crushed, they didn't hit the open shots besides the third quarter and I don't anticipate that continuing.   However, I'll give credit to the Celtics for a full on dismantling of the Cavs and setting the tone for game 2.   I anticipate it will be much more physical and Bronbron will show up.

I'm expecting the Rockets to win Game 1 and hope that will motivate the Warriors to win Game 2.  We'll see...

I expect the Warriors to be fully motivated right from the start, but it's a long series and much of what they do is based on countering what a team is doing to them.

With a full week of sitting around waiting for this to start, and really an entire season that's been a preamble to this series I expect the Rockets to come out blazing at home and the Warriors to be maybe a little rusty & jumpy, especially at the start. A split will do fine for the Dubs, but IMO tonight will be a tough one for them. If they don't get tsunami'd at the start and it's close at halftime they have a chance to take tonight, and if they play their best they should take the series, but this is going to be as big a challenge as they've faced. It should be fun to watch.

And I don't mind some good flopping, that sort of thing takes skill and is part of the game, but I don't like all the whining after every single foul. That seems to be a league-wide issue, but the Warriors sure do their share of bitching about fouls. It gets a little old and I don't see how it helps anything.

It would be nice to see Curry get the same calls The Beard gets though.

GW!!!!!!!

>>>I expect the Warriors to be fully motivated right from the start

This team hasn’t displayed in recent history that it takes games off this time of year. As a matter of fact, it’s Harden, Paul and the Rockets, the ones that have been talking this season how they are the better team who has a tendency to not show up when flare of the spotlight hits hardest.

The Warriors will be playing hard from the opening jump and I don’t see this going 7 games before the Warriors move on to the finals.

>>>With a full week of sitting around waiting for this to start, and really an entire season that's been a preamble to this series I expect the Rockets to come out blazing at home and the Warriors to be maybe a little rusty & jumpy, especially at the start.

I'm usually a pessimist, but I could actually see it going exactly the opposite way.

Golden State has little to lose.  They've already ascended the mountain 3 years in a row and won twice.

But as the team that has already been anointed by so many to finally replace the Warriors, the upstart Rockets suddenly have all the pressure to deliver NOW.  And with the number one seed, home court advantage, and everyone healthy, they know they have no excuses.

Yet when Houston watches game film of the Warriors at playoff level, it has to put some doubt in their minds.  After all, this Houston team has never been here, so they don't know for certain if they have what it takes to knock out the champs.

On the other hand the Warriors know without a doubt they have what it takes.  Besides staying healthy, all GS has to do is play at their normal high level, on both sides of the ball, and they are not going to lose 4 games out of 7 to any team in the league.  For them to lose, they have to beat themselves by being careless with the ball, lazy on D, and coasting too much with big leads in the 4th.

And in the past 3 championship runs these Warriors have seen it all, whereas this Houston team has simply not seen defense like the Warriors are capable of playing, so unless Houston can suddenly up their defensive game (or 2 out of 3 of the Warrior's all-stars scorers simultaneously go cold for the series) I just don't see Houston keeping pace on the offensive end.

Hopefully both teams play at their very best, and it's simply the best team that wins (and no injuries on either side).

GO WARRIORS!!!!

maybe you guys can get lebron next year?....

Fuck the NBA for only having one game on this past weekend.

and yes my observation of the Cavs needing a third player to score 16-20 for them to win was spot on.

'cause the Lakers never signed any superstars from other teams ever, only home grown talent.

OC if Philly does not get Lebron then be prepared to be the Cavs of the Jordan Era. The Cavs were loaded with talent but just could not beat Jordan and company. Boston is going to own the East for the next 10 years if bron bron ends up out west

the worlds longest wait is almost at an end!!!!!!

Warriors by 10 tonight.

Rocket get to see what real Defense looks like.

Warriors rated best defensive team thru the playoffs

and highest scoring.....

>'cause the Lakers never signed any superstars from other teams ever, only home grown talent. <

we used to steal players from dumb teams...

they payton/mailman thing didn't really work out...

but the KD to GS was like some dude going to work for the guy that just boned his wife...gross.

Totes. it's crazy that that fucker would want to leave the beautiful state of Oklahoma and his besty Westy... what a maroon.

Two problems with that, Fabes.

First off, many of the Sixers shortcomings will be remedied through experience, the others through personal moves.  I admit that presently the Sixers are soft like those Cavs teams.

Second, the 2018> Celtics are not in the same class as Jordan's Bulls. Not even close.

First of all those Cavs teams were very good and would of won a couple championships if it was not for Jordan.

secondly your sixers lost to a team without its top two players, if they were going to go to the ship then this was their one shot

>First of all those Cavs teams were very good and would of won a couple championships if it was not for Jordan

Sure they were good. But I could also assert that if not for Jordan, the trailblazers would have won a championship, Barkley would have a ring, or that the Knicks would have played for multiple championships... And those Cavs teams were soft!

Second... yes, the Celtics were missing their two best players. But you assume that the Sixers will do nothing to improve their roster. First trip to the playoffs, not the last.

And once again, today's Celtics are not in the same class as Jordan's Bulls. Not by a longshot.

Anybody comparing a team from Chicago to a team from Cleveland isn’t fully understanding how sports work. Lebron won a championship in Cleveland. To me their really is no greater accomplishment in sports than that.

Timpane, wtf are you rattling on about?

Where did I say the celts are the new jordan era bulls? The point is, this sixer team cannot even beat a rebuilding celtics team that is missing its two stars, and their fans are getting all chubbed up about it. And with all do respect to Ainge, he did it the old fasioned way, by trades, cuts and draft picks, not by tanking 4-5 seasons in a row and pissing on the fans in beantown, like what has been done in philly. I hate the player and the game that philly has played here in rebuilding, and in the long run they really are not going anywhere.

Good call on Ainge. He’s fleeced a couple of teams too, which is always great. I’ll try to look them up but the Brooklyn Nets and Garnett and Pierce come to mind. And of course, Brad Stevens is on fire.

In spite of Stevens, I’m not ready to turn on Lebron and his ability to consistently win the East. I’m still calling for GS vs Lebron.

>Garnett<

oh you mean the collusion between the 2 celtic butt buddies?

Really hoping rockets kick Gs all over he place. I think Chris Paul is gonna take it to curry tonight. Everybody knows harden hates Durant. I think Gs loses in 6.

Good lord.

It's a heavyweight fight.

>Where did I say the celts are the new jordan era bulls<

Fabes, you said the Sixers would be "the Cavs of the Jordan era" and "Boston is going to own the east for the next 10 years"

So Sixers=Cavs and Boston=Bulls in your analogy.

>Ainge, he did it the old fasioned way, by trades, cuts and draft picks, not by tanking 4-5 seasons in a row<

The 2012 Sixers went 35-31. When Hinkie took over in 2013, the Sixers were not attracting free agents and often could not resign their own free agents. So trading away the marketable talent for draft picks was the route chosen. Embiid was drafted in 2014, but missed two seasons because of injury. Saric was also drafted in 2014, but stayed in Europe for two years. Not going to see much improvement  when your top draft picks are not playing with the team. Okafor in 2015 didn't help matters either. Simmons was drafted in 2016, but missed a season because of injury. This was the first year the Simmons, Embiid and Saric have played together.

>in the long run they really are not going anywhere<

That statement is as valid as the Cavs would have won a couple of championships if not for Jordan... Just a bunch of nonsense.

I thought Houston might put up a fight but I don’t think we are going to see much of one based on tonight.

Far out.

The Warriors played as a team.

The Warriors played great defense.

The Warriors had great preparation.

And the ringer comes through, like ringers are supposed to.

The champions take Game 1. On the road. Like champions do.

And of course everyone will yammer about the Evil Green and that early (and foolish) T, and completely overlook the brilliance of his overall game.

Draymond Green played yet another brilliant game.

Draymond Green is a brilliant basketball player.

Brilliant.

And Timpane, nobody puts Curry in the corner.

BTW, LeBron will NEVER come to the Warriors.

Because there is NO WAY he's willing to make the sacrifices that Durant was willing to make.

Which is why he'll end up in LA.

GW!!!!

BTW #2... Please excuse me.

Some lovely tequila helped me through tonight (REALLY fun) so there's that.

Carry on.

(GW!!!!)

I'm on Southern comfort and IPA - thank you Janice Joplin and Pigpen for inspiring me

Regardless,  Houston is SOOOO fucking ugly

you can't call that basketball,  how fucking boring can you get - dribble dribble, drool 24 second violation

and while I'm at it Chris Paul is complete piece of shit and DIRTY

rob,  it smells like rotten fish in here-  and the MVP is about as boring as you can get

turtle,  let go and play homage to greatness    There's just no denying it and Kevin Durant is unfuckingbelievable and wanted to play for a team that knew how to have fun and pass the ball with have motion and joy

TEAM!

Long live the team

Like Charles said this series is over in three games and I hate him too

at least he's not in denial like he used to be

Long live the Warriors

>>>the MVP is about as boring as you can get<<<

Oh, I don't know about that.

Dude is fucking great.

But maybe he just hasn't found the right team to play with yet.

Maybe.

It's a long series, I seriously doubt the Rockets will fold their tents.

What a game Game 2 will be!!

Go Warriors!!!!

Lancy boy do you love dribbling ?

I love ensemble play, with multiple stars, yet everyone working together for the greater good.

Sound familiar?

>>>>>Some lovely tequila helped me through tonight (REALLY fun) so there's that.

>>>>>I'm on Southern comfort and IPA

Moylan's Kilt Lifter Scotch Ale and Iron Springs Casey Jones IPA helped me have fun.  Local brews for the local team!

Looking forward to Game 2.

The warriors played as a team>>

i guess. Durant still had the workload though. Rockets couldn’t hit there shots and had a hard time making lay ups. Not easy to win games when you’re missing lay ups. Paul want aggressive at all. Those things added up. I think Rockets take game two. A lot of nerves last night. The refs were absolutely terrible, that missed backcourt violation was unacceptable and a critical part of the game. Refs should be fined when they miss those kind of calls. Not saying rockets would have won because of that call but because they issef it

tje game was absolutely over after that,

Quick notes:

Klay was on and you can't beat the dubs when he he's hot.

Green is the modern day Dennis Rodman.

If the Cavs lose to the Celtics (and Houston loses), does Lebron go to Houston?   That city doesn't fit his persona to build an empire beyond basketball but it does for Championships and beating the dubs.  Are the Lakers a viable destination for a guy who wants to win now and build his reputation as the greatest ever?    Even with George, I don't think they come close to Houston or the Dubs.   Still not seeing Lonzo as the answer as much as the enigma.   He'll be good and bad.  He'll have games where he is elite and others where he's a total flop.

^Rodman was a rebounding machine/tenacious defender. Green is a much better all around player.

I don't disagree with that assessment.   But both were instigators.

I wonder how effective Green would be on another team.

Rodman was so great. He could get just about every rebound and loose ball, but his greatness was he knew his limitations and passed the ball once he got it to the guys that could score. One of the greatest workers that ever played the game, and one hell of a freak to boot.

OC I really don’t think Boston is the next Chicago, in fact they are more similar to your sixes than the bulls.Just as your sixers will never finish as conference champs the celts will always come up the bridesmaid to a west coast team in the ship for the foreseeable future

We'll see about the Sixers/Celtics. The West's domination cannot last forever.

If the Celts manage to get a 2-5 pick in this year's draft, your vision of domination gets a bit easier.

>...one hell of a freak to boot.<

Man had demons. You read happen to read Daly Life, Fabes? Good read. Rodman is lucky he had basketball.

At halftime I was thinking 'how in the hell is a team that plays one on one iso going to beat a team that passes and moves the ball like the Warriers?'

Everyone must have been thinking that.

This is put under the heading 'the sky is blue' but the problem Houston has is that Green is a killer and Thompson is a killer--both of those guys are extremely talented but they are also stone cold killers. Then you have Durant as possibly the most difficult matchup in NBA history.

And then you have Curry?  Then?

Plus they play the right way?

I still think this is going to be a series--but how in the world could I still believe Houston will win it after seeing those two teams juxtaposed with each other--their styles so glaringly opposite one another? How is an iso team going to beat a team that moves the ball the right way?

At halftime I was thinking what in the hell was I thinking, thinking that Houston was going to do the impossible.

Horrible offense for Houston. Dantoni is a dipshit. Nice work offensive genius...

CP can't get to the cup or throw lobs to Capella?

Pack it up, go home.

Harden can't guard my momma.

I told You so...... should have been 11 but Rockets with some dumb fouls in final minutes....

I had said 6 maybe 5 leaning 5 now could be a SWEEP! lol

http://www.vivalazone.org/comment/149292#comment-149292

Hoooooper you out there?

Yep I'm herecryingcrying

That was so boring and horrible to watch!!!!!! I'm talking about the Cavs.

Like I said earlier, it might be a blessing in disguise that the Cavs lose. Could you imagine those slow fucks trying to guard the Warriors?

Yikes!

Boston did what they were supposed to do.

I just don't see the Cavs winning 4 out of the last 5. (Not sure I want them to....lol).I

Congratulations Boston and their fans for winning the first two games at home.

Let's see what the Cavs are made of......well I think we all knowsmiley

Rockets blow!!!!!!!!!! That's all I have to say about that game. Haha!!

>>>Rockets blow<<<

I think the Warriors made them blow, as they ran them down pretty good. And that offense... is that the way they usually play?

Still, while the Warriors out-played them the game was close most of the way; it was never really a "blow-out" until the final few minutes, and even then the score never got out of hand.

I think maybe, after one game, people are under-estimating the Rockets a little bit, and in the same way are also under-estimating the Warriors and just how damn good they are.

I think the Warriors are the better team and will win the series, but Houston is good and this series isn't over after one game.

>>>I wonder how effective Green would be on another team<<<

I think he would make that team, any team, better than they are now.

That guy doesn't get the credit he deserves.

And he gets quite a bit of credit.

But still not what he deserves.

BIG game tomorrow!

GW!!!!

Don't count the cavs out yet....stranger things have happened.

Bronny has been good at managing his time all year but sometimes when he gets pissed he blows his load in the first quarter and runs out of energy by the end of the game.   Not sure how much the neck injury played into slowing him down but his big first quarter didn't carry much beyond.

Strictly looking at the stat box, this was a game of turnovers.   Rebounds were relatively even and Cavs shot better than the Celtics yet somehow the Celtics managed 12 more shots than the Cavs.  Lebron had more turnovers (6) than the entire Celtics team.

As a side note, I know ESPN is easy to beat up these days but any reason why they are riding Trae Young's jock so hard.   Every week there is a new article on this "decent" player.

I don't see the Cavs coming back from this.  I also think their run in the East is over, which kinda sucks because I was hoping for one more Warriors/Cavs finals.

But a big difference between the Warriors and the Cavs is that the Warriors, to a man, recognized that they needed another piece and they went out (all the way to the Hamptons) and got that piece.

The Cavs, on the other hand, chose to go the opposite direction by letting Warrior-killer-Kyrie go when they should have been doing everything to keep him AND adding another Paul George/Gordon Hayward type.

Trae is not going to be any good

so much to learn from the box score Zang, I see I am not the only one that pays attention to these. In fact I refuse to read about the game and prefer to get my info from the box score

again a third Cav failed to score 16-20, no win with no help for Love and Lebron

they are toast.

And, barring anymore injuries, the Celtics should be better next year.

^yes

As for the West, I wonder if the Houstons are going to try to change their spots...  d'antoni (in his presser) seemed to be focussing mostly on what they missed on the defensive end, but playing defense is not their identity and trying to instill that mindset now could be detrimental.  IMO, their best hope is to go apeshit on the offensive side of the ball and hope the Warriors play one of their patented slop games, and/or one or more of Golden State's stars has an off night and they simply can't keep up.

Either way, this is a huge game.  A win here for GS and the series is all but over.  A win here for the Rockets, and then one in Oaktown, and the series could end up going 7 games (and I really do not like the Warriors chances in a game 7 in Houston).

GO WARRIORS!!!

Lebron s first tenure with the Cavs ownership provided no additional pieces, total shit team

he left and who could blame him

this tenure Lebron presses them to sign JR, Mr. Kardashian and others to max out cap space, and He crippled them contract wise to get any better.

Googly total right on the mark in losing Kyrie

he’s gone and never coming back after this failed attempt for the ship. Lebron is starting to show wear and tear for the first time in his career

Seriously though, if Houston had any chance it’s on the boulders of Paul being able to drive and hit the long ball. If he doesn’t have over 20 tonight I don’t see them having a long chance of winning.

>>>>>Lebron is starting to show wear and tear for the first time in his career

Fabes....wear on a guy with a line of 42pts, 10 Rebounds, and 12 assists?   He's carrying the weight of carrying a crappy team for too long.

God I hate that the Celtics have good young players..

Zang, yes he can throw up numbers, but do you see him playing the defense that he used to throw down? Does he get back on the opposing teams fast breaks like he used to? It appears that he is conserving his energy to still put up the offensive stats, which imo is a great business move. They don't pay huge money to defenders. Lebron has Jordan beat in one thing and that is how fast he learned personal marketing, and cashing in on all streams of revenue, my tip of the hat to his high school buddy Maverick. Lebron is either showing his age finally, or he has given up on pushing his teammates, and ready to move on from Cleveland.

Rockets are outpassing the Warriors!

KD is the LeBron of the Warriors right now. Anyone else want to step up?  Warriors still have time if they return to form.

Houston role players are doing what they're supposed to do at home. wink

Double post

Houston came out with a plan tonight. KD is gonna put up baskets, but Houston had their scorers shooting well, and their D kept Curry & Thompson contained.

This could be a fun series.

see if they can do that on the road. somewhat surprised.

ps. why don't warrior fans praise igoudala?

It boils down to talent for the Cavs. They strictly don't have what is needed to move on i don't think.

James is fine. The other players are the problem...obviously. Lol.

Can they still win the series? Sure. I doubt it, but you never know.

We'll see

Good game Houston.

Warriors blow!!!!!!!

Where's Dan with his Dubs crap?

Speaking of crap, that's what they looked like.

I changed my mind. Rockets for sure! Warriors going to shit themselves plenty this series!!!!!

Way to roll a nice turd out there tonight Curry!!!!!!!!!!

It was a beautiful thing to watch

Sadly we didn't have it tonight. I was worried that we'd put up a laxed game. Uninspired play, bad passing leading to too many early turnovers. Rockets absolutely had to have this game over the series was over. The Splash brah's couldn't find their splash. KD was KD awesome like always.

All and all they did what they had to do. Got 1 on the road.

Rockets looked like a different team tonight, too. Passing the ball and not playing endless ISO ball. That is the Rockets Team that made me think this was going 6.

Game 3 will be great to see! Which teams will show up. Warriors are known for rebounding after a horrible game like tonight.

Until Sunday...

GO WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steph played like crap 4 sure.  Didn't play great on monday either.  despite his potential to break out and show glimpses of **vintage Stephanie** I think @ this point  they'd be better off playing him in limited samples off the bench, or not @ all for long stretches.  He's too much of a liability, especially now that he's getting virtually NO lift.  Think how great the Dubs looked in game 1 of the New Orleans series, cohesive sound defense and collective team basketball.  They're MUCH better off without him right now, don't need his ass out there ending up as BBQ chicken for whoever he's trying to guard..not being able to cut, move laterally, be confident or beat people off the dribble at the level he's accustomed to.. & jacking up terrible 38 ft. brick-bombs.

**He CLEARLY tweaked his MCL injured knee in game 1 trying to play aggressive D.  Was seen in the tunnel during the game trying to 'stretch it out..'  Even admitted to a reporter after the game that he "tweaked SOMETHING" but i'll be FINE."  Yeah right, Stephania.. just like 2016, you ain't right in yo legs, you got no hops and you're gonna cost your team a chip because of it.

Bottom line: They sit Curry (at least for long stretches) & they have a great shot to win this series.  If they keep things as they've been.. trying to play his hobbled ass and costing the team..  The Dubs have ZERO chance & They WILL indeed LOSE this series!

Book it!

My gut says Rockets in SIX (possibly 7)

They targeted Steph so not sure how crappy he played but to be fair I didn't see the whole game.  The rockets won't shoot like that again.....Ariza and Tucker were 15 of 18.    Plus Klay shot like crap.  This series may turn out to be interesting after all.

They Warriors sometimes play lazy, sloppy games and that was a great example of it, yet the game was still within reach until halfway through the 4th.

But I think there is definitely something still not right with Curry... he missed wide open threes (had nothing to do with the defense) and was a step slow on D.  Not good.  On the other hand, Klay seemed dialed in and could have made the difference, but they failed to feed him while turning the ball over and giving up fast break points.

Tucker was who I was worried about coming into this series and he showed why last night.  If he stays hot, it could swing the series in Houston's favor since the Warriors are seemingly intent on clamping down on Harden/Paul and whomever's lurking in the paint (and leaving the corners open).

Hopefully GS can raise their energy and stay focused at home, otherwise that home court advantage they just stole will go right back to Houston.

The Warriors took that one right in the gut. They've shown great resiliency and character in these type of situations in the past, but Houston is good and not afraid of them (despite what EVERYone was saying about them after the first game) so it will be interesting to see what happens now.

There is no question that Curry is not 100%, whether it's lingering issues with his knee or not being fully game-conditioned after almost two months of not playing and then going right into the madness of intense playoff effort. That's the problem with being a little guy in a big man's game; he has to be close to full ability to get full advantage of his skills.

Still, IMO they didn't lose because Curry wasn't at his best, they lost/got smoked because they played slow & sloppy on both sides of the court, and because Houston was ON FIRE from 3.

This is the time the Warriors need that LA pretender Nick Young to earn his dough, and is why they brought him in; to score in general & nail some 3's when the stars are resting, but IMO that guy is a pure bum and that lack of a bench threat with heart under pressure is hurting them, as it has all season.

I wonder if the decision to bring Young onto the team is an effect of Jerry West leaving the organization last year?

So now, like all great heavyweight fights, each fighter has gotten vicious shots in early; Houston was reeling after being smacked hard in the first round, they responded with adjustments & fire and knocked the Warriors down flat in the second. Now it's on.

Will the Warriors respond with adjustments & fire of their own, or are they dazed and confused by the power of that second round knockdown?

GW!!!!

Curry needs to be resting, he is hurt and cannot guard people. It is also effecting the separation that he can usually create to get his jumper off or drive to the basket. They have played great without him all season when he has missed games. If I was the Dubs I would start thinking about trading him in the future and concentrate on not losing Klay

>>They've shown great resiliency and character<<

like the character draymond displayed at the end of game with his no-play-on-ball cheap flagrant foul because he was getting his ass kicked?

punk.

>> LA pretender Nick Young<<

schwaggy p is trash.

Curry has also been SO freakin' sloppy and careless with the ball, making terrible erratic and forced decisions on the court.  I first noticed it in game 2 of the N.O. series.  Been missing wide open teammates right beside him like Klay on the fast break last night.  It's as if he's off in his own little LaLa Land fantasy world.. & The ENTIRE team has suffered as a result trying to ease him back into the fold.. compromising what had been a dynamic and very balance fully functional machine operating on all cylinders without him the previous game.  He's a bonafide liability in every way and it's going to cost them a chance to repeat.  They were able to get away with it last round and be let off the hook.. but NO MAS!!  The country is in for a Shocking awakening as the Dubs will go down with Stephanie sinking their ship.. (unless they choose to sit him and play tighter, smarter more cohesive ball with him on the bench, and bringing him in for short stretches, in which case they'll have a shot)

On another note.. Celtics have virtually NO chance to win this series.  Cleveland will come ROARING back and never look twice behind them.  All of Boston's momentum will be gone & HGH Queen Bronda LebaLd Shames will make it BACK to The Finals again.  It's a No-brainer.  Celtics will crumble and never recover what they thought they had.  Lots of people think they have control.. but they most assuredly do NOT.  Just watch & marvel as the cavs casually nonchalantly take this series by the balls and squeeze Boston into submission.

Boston is DONE folks!  Cavs in SIX (maybe 7)

Queen James will win another Title over the Rockets this year and add to his growing and unfathomable Legacy.

Nice to have ya back Jim.

>>>>If I was the Dubs I would start thinking about trading him in the future and concentrate on not losing Klay

Not sure I'd be investing in either right now.   Klay is like the lottery, you might win big, but you might lose more often.

>>Boston is DONE folks!  Cavs in SIX (maybe 7)

After the injuries all season to their best players, no intelligent or informed Celtics fan saw them beating much of anyone in the playoffs - never mind getting to the conference finals. Next year is the year for the Celtics. They have already surpassed just about every Celtics fan's expectations by leaps and bounds.

That said - they still have one hell of a deep team with many players who can score. The Cavs have no idea who to stop or double team - and even of they do, someone else steps up. After Bron and maybe Love, the Cavs don't have much.

The Celtics also have one hell of a smart coach too, btw. That has been on display since the playoffs began.

While I, and most Celtics fans, still think the Cavs can come back and win - we're happy to watch this ride and think about next year when Hayward and Irving are back with all the other pieces healthy and happy as well.

ymmv, of course.

Reardon, please provide some stunning imagery to an overall pretty dull thread. Glad you finally made it to

this thread. Cheers.

Let’s welcome the true Boston fans that finally show up in this thread in the third round of the playoffs

now get the fuck out of here

>>>Curry needs to be resting

yep.  Give him limited minutes off the bench against the 2nd stringers and run the first string offense through G leaguer point guard Cook instead of Durant (and feed feed feed Klay!).

My prediction is if the Warriors fail to win BOTH of these first two home games and go up 3 -1, they will not win the series (and I only give them a 50/50 chance of doing that 'cause I doubt they'll take Curry out of the starting rotation).

Just like when he finished with LeBRONTO.. and left devastation in his wake..

So will it be in New England.

Warriors Rockets depends obviously on how much the Dubs try to stubbornly ride with a hobbled StephaniA @ the helm --rather then taking advantage of a solid brand of ball without him-- an approach that could still win them a title this year.  Ride with Steph & they're done!

Lol, welcome back Reardon.

Hey Reardon can we get a rant about how the refs are fixing games? Thanks man good to see you again

Hey Reardon can we get a rant about how the refs are fixing games? Thanks man good to see you again

Houston we have a problem

This has been an interesting series of semifinal games on both sides.   The closest games have been by 13 points and otherwise it's just been useless fourth quarters.   But the fact that it's swinging back and forth between teams is what's interesting.

>>>>Houston we have a problem

The rockets just got fucked.  I'm not sure how they walk after that one.

Now that was a rebound game.....

This is done over... Rockets have crashed... Hardin doesn't know how to defend. lol Shawn Livingston crossing him up making him look like the 1 sided player he is. And that chump is going to get named MVP lol it a popularity contest, like being part of the "Lame Kidz""Jr Admins" click here on the zone.....

LOL, it's gotten to the stage in both series that the team that loses the most recent game is certainly doomed to be eliminated.

And that's the way it should be, I suppose.

Well I see that this thread has gone a bit derpzone.

You people.

Steph looks like he's getting his game legs back, and if he plays as sharp again tomorrow that won't be an issue going forward, but now there's other trouble in paradise; Andre Iguodala is listed as doubtful for tomorrow's game, and he could be out longer. He smacked knees with Harden last night, and now his knee is hurting and they're taking him for x-rays.

Iguodala is a seriously significant part of why the Warriors are so damn good, so this is a serious blow.

That Harden is such a punk.

GW!!!!

Lance, obviously you’re not familiar with reardons NBA zoner thread genius.

Pretty embarrassing for the Rockets last night. Fortunately for them, it’s a seven game series and if they can win game 4 they gain back home court advantage. That being said, I mean wow that’s fucking embarrassing.

Oh I'm familiar. He was bludgeoning threads in the Sports Folder long before the past couple of years' Other Stuff NBA threads.

He's also the guy who a few years back was predicting world wide doom every time there was an incident somewhere.

You'd figure that eventually he'd get something right, but no.

I suppose that's his charm.

The Warriors looked like such dogshit for the first quarter that I thought they were gonna choke up another one, but they clamped down defensively and made enough shots to be up at the half. Then, when Curry seemingly got his mojo back, it was like they were their old selves again (and I think the whole fanbase was able to breathe for the first time since game 2).

>>>Iguodala is a seriously significant part of why the Warriors are so damn good, so this is a serious blow.

Time for Looney to make his mark as a starter, something he's already been doing already off the bench:

The Warriors have been 12.6 points per 100 possessions better when Looney’s been on the floor during the playoffs—i.e., one point shy of their advantage when Iguodala has taken the floor.

https://www.theringer.com/nba/2018/5/21/17378110/andre-iguodala-leg-injury-kevon-looney

Reardon did predict the comeback from Lebron and the cavs a few years ago, but in all honesty his track record hasn’t been very good.

if Iggy is out or his effectiveness is limited.. aka he can't be IGGY.. the Warriors are finished!  james harden is complete reckless little bitch to try to flop like that to get a call and blatantly put another player at risk.... and end up injuring him.  the way his knee buckled like that, absorbing the full blow right after he planted.. NO BUENO-- looked a lot like steph and KD's MCL injuries to be honest.  i think he's done.

which means CURTAINS for the Dubs!

rockets will capitalize and dispatch them with ease!

and if they're fortunate enough to advance.. Queen Bronda will go FULL BEAST MODE on them with no one to stop him.. en route to his FOURTH CHAMPIONSHIP!

Woooooooooo Hooooooooooooo!!!!!!

The Return of Reardon is like getting Christmas early.

I'm struggling to catch to the games this year, but no matter. This thread is my proxy for NBA joy.

Kobe, Jordan, Bird, Magic, Kareem, Robertson, Chamberlain, Russell...

None of them are even fit to handle or carry BRON BRON's Jockstrap @ this point!!

LBJ is unequivocally, without a doubt THE G.O.A.T.

Not only the greatest athlete & player on the PLANET, but the Greatest Athlete that EVER LIVED!!!  On another LEVEL mentally & physically than ANY Athlete in History!! Greater Basketball IQ than ANY other player that EVER played the game!! PERIOD!!!

He will own Every single record that's worth anything when it's all said & done... & if BRON played in any of the great one's eras..

**He would've BEASTED on them.. Embarrassed them & DOMINATED them COMPLETELY!!!

He will CONTINUE to dominate this Game, Reign supreme over This League & win championships into his late 30's & beyond.. That's just irrefutable FACT!!

These games are barely watchable. Traveling. 3 point attempt after 3 point attempt. Indiscriminate foul calls. And one team that is all but guaranteed to win it all. Awful.

Can the Celtics hold home court advantage.....does it even matter?

The GOAT is M.J.

Go Cavs!

Hoping for complete and healthy rosters for all here on out.

Warriors are DONE!!  I called it!

I knew they were in deep trouble without Iguodala.. & now Klay is hobbled.  After steph carelessly threw the ball at draymond who wasn't looking when they were up 12-0.. i knew they were finished.  The tide turned right then & you could feel the shift.  If the Dubs were on point they would've blown them out and gone up 20-25 points at the outset of the game.  But they choked another opportunity away and let Houston wrestle control of the series away from them.

Buh  BYE!!

i haven't checked this thread in a while but 2derp vs reardon is an interesting matchup.

great game tonight as well.

Jim Reardon spoke to me in a dream last night. There was also a frog and a red jewel. Not sure what it all meant....

Dubs CHOKED like a bunch of skittish twitchy DOGS in that 4th quarter.

Missed dunks... TERRIBLE WILD shots.. some of the worst Amateur hour BUSHLEAGUE decision making in crunch time i've EVER seen.

It was almost like Game 7 of the FINALS 2 years ago.  Like the Warriors had NO EARTHLY clue how to play in a tight game.  Only comfortable playing as frontrunners in the 4th with a cozy lead.

After they owned the 3rd quarter.. they thought they could just COAST and rest and chillax... and b4 they knew what hit them, their obligatory coronation & Season were in Serious PERIL.  They had NO CLUE how to just play with pace and find quality shots when it mattered.

And may i please ask all of you fine folks..

***WHAT IN THE NAME OF THE HOLY MOTHER OF GOD WAS KD DOING down the stretch???!!!!****

I've never seen anything like it in my life.  Panicking..Pressing.. & playing like a scared little bitch when it most mattered.. taking panicked wild circus shots and putting his team in terrible situations.  He's supposed to be their CLOSER.. but the rest of the team saw that and it was contagious... They ALL looked like DEER in the headlights.. Game 7 against BRON BRON 2016 all over again.

Wow was that ever a pitiful display.  Warriors showed their true colors and complete Vacant absence of awareness & LACK of chemistry.

Total Discombobulation !

This series is OVER!

Bummed I missed this one

>>>Warriors by 15 tonight

Keep Dreamin' Dank

Losing Iggy was the death blow for this pseudo-dynasty.  They were vacant all season and thought they could just flip a switch and coast tonight.

Tsk tsk tsk... No No.

a weak predictable Rockets team came out and SNATCHED it away from G.S. as they stood by on autopilot...

complacently, apathetically, anhedonically Numb & watching it happen---  A weak rockets team that will get THROTTLED by BRON BRON in 5 or 6 games!

Your Dubs are FINISHED & COOKED!

Mark it down.

As I mentioned above...

Not sure w fans, other than Lance's recent comment, realize what that guy does for them.

Warriors choked.

Give my regards to Stever.

Absolutely true Turtle!

Iggy has always been the glue.

That sorry display illustrates exactly why his presence was critical, in fact quintessential!

what the hell they were doing in that 4thquarter i don't think anyone will ever know.. but it cost them a championship playing numb, cocky and arrogant like that. Everything was iso, one-on-one basketball. KD comes down, passes to no-one and jacks up crazy shots. Then it’s Curry’s turn.

That was not Warriors basketball.

Then I have no idea why Kerr stuck with Looney. All I saw was the guy constantly mishandling the ball, not boxing out on rebounds and looking lost most of the time.

Kerr also not calling a timeout with 12 seconds left was a total blunder!  CHOKEJOB!  Dubs played and looked distracted ALL game other than that little flurry of threes for 5 minutes in the 3rd. they look nothing like the team that’s made the last 3 finals in a row. That was a complete GAGjob in the 4th. Their window is starting to close. Other than Curry and Durant; their roster is actually very thin from top to bottom. Klay is totally inconsistent.

We'll all look back & realize that Without Iguodala, this team was mentally weak and vulnerable defensively & in crunch time.

The Delicate balance has been torn. Beard and CP3 are tougher than Curry and Thompson. GS will NOT win in Houston.. No way in HELL!!

The magic dust is gone.

On a lighter note.. Steph's Mom is SUCH a freakin' HOTTIE... i mean oh my GOD that woman is beautifuL!  How Dell motherfuckin' Curry ever hit the jackpot and bagged an ethereal goddess like that, the world will never know..

Golden opportunity lost to step on the throat & put a stranglehold on the series with your most important player injured = ENDGAME

Even with all of their idiocy and blunderous imbecilic shenanigans... it was still RIGHT THERE for the taking and they would be ready to coast to yet another Finals.

In the 4th quarter and much of the game, they move away from playing WarriorBALL,

and in crunch time elect NOT to run one of the deadliest Pick'n'Rolls in NBA history... Hmmmmnnnnnnn...

that-is-one-big-pile-of-shit-19008840.png

Guess Andre was more important to the collective psyche and toughness of the Dubs than anyone previously thought.  He wasn't even @ the arena from what i saw.

Teams with Home Court advantage tied 2-2 win the series 80 percent of the time.

Thompson's ankle/leg will swell up big time on him tomorrow..

With Klay on one ankle and Iguodala on one knee if he plays at all..

the warriors have ZERO chance to advance.

It's OVER!!

GO WARRIORS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watching warriors/Rockets is like watching a bunch of primadonnas play basketball. Funny stuff.

What happened to curry? Guy hits four threes in a row in the third. Game on the line he blows a wide openuncontwated lay up and then can’t hit a wide open three to send it into OT. Great game plan by Diantoni, he finally found a way to slow up Durant by putting pressure on him when he’s dribbling up the court. Durant was throwing up some bricks at the end there. Gonna be tough for GS to win In Houston again. I think

it goes the distance

So are do people in SF route for Warriors or are they an Oakland team?

Both teams shot under 40%.  Klay was atrocious with 4-13

Looking at the stat box it was the bench who got out played.    Iggy was missed.

This must have already been said--although I saw a few posts after that 2 for 16 night claiming that Curry was injured (as if a guy who just missed 5 weeks is going to be firing on all cylinders--his first step in that game sure looked every bit as explosive as always, at least to me.  What I can't figure out is this narrative the papers are coming up with about Houston playing great D in the 4th?  Even D'Antoni seems to genuinely believe that.

If a team misses open shots, some of them wide open due to missed assignments, then the other teams is playing great D?

I didn't see great D.  And I can't believe they didn't put it in the hands of Harden for basically every possession in the last 3 minutes. Let him drive and get fouled, dive and pass or shoot the 3 to put the game out of reach, that's what he was made for, don't put in the hands of anyone else, even if he is having a bad second half and even if that anyone else is Chris Paul.

Crazy they did that--they almost paid for it in a big way.

Man, I know Gordon made a huge shot but fuck does that guy play stupid basketball. It's painful to watch someone who doesn't seem to know how to box out or put a body on someone to prevent an offensive rebound. I hate that shit.

Houston has to win game 5, the Warriors do not, which we all know. I know I said Houston was going to do the impossible in winning 4 games from these guys initially, and they have a chance but it's still hard for me to imagine.

I think most bball fans and sports fans in general, don't love it when Arod goes to the Yanks or Labron goes to the Heat. So when the hardest matchup in the universe chooses the best basketball team in the universe to go to, I think most (outside of the bay area) weren't really on board. Fist off, the Warriors were just so goddam fun to watch with Curry having the ball in his hands as much as he did (!) but also, the argument that Durant going to the best team in the league doesn't make the NBA more fun to watch, it does the opposite.

I don't hold anything against Durant or the Warriors and I love watching them when I have the opportunity but it's hard to imagine that anyone outside of the Bay Area would not be rooting for Houston to do the impossible here, winning 4 out of 5 from an unbeatable team.

>>>So are do people in SF route for Warriors or are they an Oakland team?

10 years ago they were an Oakland team.  Now they are an SF team too.

10 years from now, if they were still in Oak, they'd be an Oak team again.

Houston, we have a series.

The Warriors do not seem like the hungriest team, which does not bode well for them.

To my way of thinking they can't be the team with the most hunger, simply because they are defending champions and this Houston team has never been that.

Chicago wasn't as hungry as many of their opponents in the Conference Finals and NBA Finals (not counting Magic's Lakers in '91 obviously) but they were so good and they were hungry enough, that they still won them.

I think that's part of the challenge to win consecutive titles in any sport. Oakland is good enough and hungry enough that I wouldn't worry about the hunger thing stopping them.

Hey Hall!  What the fuck up?  Big hugs man...

Hey Felina!

Go Rockets!!!

FB_IMG_1527099939994.jpg

Interesting that cleveland and houston both tied their series 2 to 2. Almost like the whole thing is rigged, haha.

Have to go with Cleveland over boston.

and

GO HOUSTON !

nice Draymont pic, good stuff

>10 years ago they were an Oakland team.  Now they are an SF team too.<

lol

>>>The Warriors do not seem like the hungriest team, which does not bode well for them.

Concur with this statement.   They're still playing a bit lackadaisical.   Excited for the next game....should be fun.

Felina coming in hot with hot with the critical acclaim.

They were an SF team 10 years ago>>>>

Folks in SF still trying to figure out if they are going to route for them then? It’s all very confusing.

Felina has it wrong, but in an ironic sort of way he has his finger on a pulse of truth, just sort of flipped.

Even before the Warriors moved from the Cow Palace and changed their affiliation name to Golden State in 1971 they have been considered by BA locals not as any city's team but as the Bay Area's team. Even when they were the San Francisco Warriors they played games in San Jose and Oakland, and there's never been two competing basketball teams in the region so that overall sense of BA affiliation goes back more than 47 years.

Virtually no one I've ever known who grew up around here has ever thought of the Warriors as an "Oakland" team, not even the city or people from Oakland, at least not loudly. All my life, when talking about affiliations Oakland has always had two teams (and for a while one) and San Francisco has had two, while the Warriors were affiliated to the Bay Area in general. They happened to play their games in Oakland, but they've generally been regarded as the region's team, not any particular city's.

What's funny about this is that it's only been in the last three or four years that this question/point of contention has ever come up. It's only very recently that (not surprisingly) the city of Oakland and people who live there now have started stamping their feet and making loud reference to the Warriors as an Oakland team.

I'm sure over the years there have been Oakland locals who have thought that way but it was never a topic or issue before. If anything the overall sense of Bay Area loyalty to the Warriors has been been mentioned occasionally in conversations and in the local media as an exception to the divided loyalties of BA fans in other sports.

So really where felina has got it wrong is that ten years ago and for decades before that the Warriors were a Bay Area team; now suddenly to a few they've become an "Oakland" team, and ten years from now, if they were still in Oakland, they'd be a Bay Area team again, as they will be ten years from now while playing in SF.

And so answer your question timpane, people all around the BA including San Francisco root for the Warriors, and always have.

Oakland just wants the credit now.

GGSW!!!!

^^^^

More like once the Warriors Started WINNING! SF Queers Boys like Tommy jumped on the Warriors ship.

They have always been an Oakland Team like the A's & Raiders.

SF Fans want them now that they are winning because the FAGS in SF are all Bandwagon fans PERIOD.

Only Bad thing about Joe L. buying the team was from day 1 he wanted to move them to the City of Gays......

We will WIN game 5 and finish this series off in game 6 at home.

It really was sad last night to see the NBA record most home playoff wins fall only 1 game after braking the Bulls record of 15 :( I thought they would add to the record all the way thru the Finals. :(

Hard to

believe the Cavs tied his series up. 60 after three quarters. Fucking terrible.

It's a WRAP!!  This series is OVER !!  Celtics will NOT win another game the rest of the way!! They have ZERO chance to dethrone BRON BRON!!

Queen James will UNLEASH the FURY and PUNISH Boston for the next two games and just BLOW them away!!

>>>Oakland just wants the credit now.

Lance would know a hell of a lot more than me because he's been here a hell of a lot longer than me. I moved here in '90, cause I fell in love with SF from all the GD and Garcia shows I had seen in these parts to over the years--I loved SF and Oakland and everything else about Northern California. A city kid from Chicago, I just couldn't get over the beauty and I loved the people I met all around too. It was so easy to get into a fight when out in Chicago at night in a bar. You bumped into a guy and if it was the wrong guy, boom, you are now fighting. SF and Oakland just didn't have any of that fraternity, latent homosexuality bullshit. Being out at bars was being out with friendly people, the ones you knew and the ones you didn't know, at least for the most part. I also had a group of friends here who I thought were awesome and had developed such an adoration, bordering on sexual, for the combination of the Warfield and Garcia that to work in a city I loved and see a artist I loved in a theater I loved every few months was something I thought was like a dream.

I've known lots of working class and poor families in Oakland, mostly African American, and it's those families who schooled me on that team being Oakland's team. The team being their team. They bled Warriors and loved those Hardaway/Mullins and Richmond teams and Sprewell and players like Sleepy Floyd who I knew little about and tons more. It makes me happy knowing how much they must love the team right now but the people in SF during those Mullins years who I knew...they couldn't give a crap about that team and definitely didn't consider them to be an SF anything. But this is a pretty damn sample size, both with the people I knew in SF as well as the ones I knew in Oakland. I'm talking about like 50 people.

SF has always seemed to me to be a pretty shitty sports town. The working class families seem to be loyal as hell to the Giants and Niners and Raiders but mostly, I see fans only loyal to winning seasons in this city.

But again, small sample size in terms of what I've seen and how I've developed my opinions on the matter. I'll defer to Lance here because of how much longer he's been in this area than me. I still consider myself a somewhat recent transplant even though I've been here longer than anywhere else.

I couldn't give two shits about the sports teams here though--I tried to put up with them for the first few years, just to go along with my SF friends and be happy and all that shit, but then gave up the facade and admitted my hatred for the Giants and Niners to all. My wife asked me why I couldn't be happy for all our friends here after all those Giant's parades and I would just look at her and tell her, with empathy, that she just didn't understand.

Whooaa!  How the fuck did this post get THAT long.

I guess I've missed the zone!

Apologies to all.

>>Mark it Down!!

>>Believe it !!

Bwahahahahahaha! NO!

Felina was schooled on it by the African American community. It a official, The Warriors are an Oakland team.

i think Cavs will get to a game 7 then have another lack luster performance in Boston. Boston will make win a fake against either rockets /warriors. It’s gonna be an uneventful finals this year.

Typically I would agree with the Cavs closing out.   I have little doubt they will win the next game at home.   But how fucking tired is Lebron?  He's so tired that he's actually admitting it.   Ruh roh.   Even if you are tired you never let your opponent know.    Should be a great game seven.

>>>Whooaa!  How the fuck did this post get THAT long.

Considering it was after the game I think it's on par with previous posts.

2dank with some vintage bigotry.

>>>Whooaa!  How the fuck did this post get THAT long.

Hangin' out with Lance

Ha ha ha....yup.  I think you're right.

(That and also I had a few beers last night with my wife watching some Westworlds-- and I'm a big time lightweight these days.)

As far as the pill comment, I know nothing or am saying that he has been a pill user, what I see though is a guy that appeared injured in a few games and then the healing hand of god touched him and he comes back for a game to light it up. I think he had a little bit of help on getting back to form. Let’s see how he continues to hold up

Farve was MVP and won a super bowl in a percoset haze

poor showing by 2derp, reardon in a landslide.

and sorry, even though it's nice to see Felina post again i don't read any blatantly bloviating posts in an NBA thread, especially when by the bay area contingent.

keep it tight, fellas.

Bloviate is a perfect verb for a felina post.

Also...I don't see Cleveland winning game 6.

Lebron has had a pretty great post-season--one for the ages.  But that teams looks done to my eyes.

Warriors CHOKE again!!!

They're FINISHED!

Houston was GASSED and couldn't do anything but weak iso-ball.. and KD, Steph, Klay, Draymond couldn't do a GODDAMNED thing about it.

What a cocky bunch of weak-minded front Runners!!

I guess No Iggy= No Discipline @ either end of the floor -- some of the WORST decision making and BAD shot selection i've ever seen in a 4th quarter just like game 4!!

No Iguodala = NO BUENO!!

amazing how One player going down can completely SINK a team & SEAL the fate of a series..

WOW!!!!

Draymond Green just lost control of his body functions on the roller-headed ladies front lawn

Buh... BYE  DUB-Nation!!!

The clock has struck 12!!!

Shut it Down !!  Clear out the Oracle LockerRooms..

The Party's OVAH!!!!  The Celebration is OFF!!

Shelve the Confetti... The obligatory Coronation has been CANCELLED!!

Iggy's injury & this shameless ISO-Hero-Ball killed the Warriors...

Tried to coast along pretending they could wing it trying to be something they're NOT!!

**How in the name of the LORD do you abandon the success of the last 3 years to play this shitty ISO ball. It’s beyond fucking DEPLORABLE!

They deserve to have all this KARMA thrown in their face after their despicable COCKY ARROGANCE.

Garbage bunch of choking front'runnin' PAPER CHAMPION DOG FACED LOSERS !!

Before they choked in 2016 to Cleveland they were ONE crazy klay thompson 3pt. flurry from losing to OKC and not even being in the finals.  And KD was part of THAT chokeJOB!!  Now it aLL comes full-circle..

This team was NEVER CLUTCH... Like.. EVER !  And they were NEVER a Dynasty or even a Dynasty in the making either.

& Now that CP3 tweaked his Hammy @ the end..  BRON BRON will ROLL like a TSUNAMI over the Rockets in the FINALS with EASE!!!!

As i told ALL of you weeks ago..

Mark it down!!

ClevelandCAVALIERS2018NBAchamps!!!!!

BRONBRON Finals MVP!!!!

Yeah baby YEAH!!!!!!

Wooooooooo Hooooooooo!!!

Holy cowPIE I am SO beyond PUMPED!!!!!!

Bwahahahahahahahahaha ! ! ! ! ! !

#TheProphecyContinues #MoreRealThanREAL

Excellent post Reardon, as always. Thank you for the work you're doing in this thread.

On the 2nd to last possession.. down 2 with 22 seconds remaining..

Kerr or whoever the imbecile was to draw up that set/make that call..  Stuck Kevin Durant, who's supposed to be the Closer.. in LEGIT NO MaN's LAND in the corner where he couldn't do a god forsaken THING!!!

Rather than run the deadliest P & R in history with Steph and KD, they stick Durant on in island next to the Houston Bench, and elect to settle for Steph running by Klay into a double team Trap for a garbage low percentage off balance ill-fated runner.  Tsk Tsk Tsk.. Shakin' my damned head.  What an ABOMINATION!!

Same with the last possession.. no effort to get KD involved, or have Draymond screen for Steph to advance the dribble past half court and maybe take it or dish to Klay...

Such A Joke.

Kerr is so Beyond Out of Touch with this group.  Has been ALL YEAR.. Lost in Translation--- He Lost these guys a WHILE ago.

His disconnect assures that they have ZERO chemistry & ZERO flow to cope with guys being injured or out of the lineup all year. Add IGGY being sidelined this week and you have a recipe for the perfect storm to EXPOSE & REVEAL just exactly who these spoiled, SuperficiaL, primadonna Punk-Divas really are...

****Weak-Minded, twitchy, impulsive, reckless, panicked, preening, posing little Bitches & Softer than a marshmallow wrapped in a Kotex PAD when Houston got all up & physical ... starting in the 4th Quarter of game 4.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I really don't think anyone ACTUALLY, GENUINELY, thought it was even REMOTELY possible that this "invincible SUPERhuman" team.. could actually be BEATEN @ home.. let alone 4 times in a series..

Take away their coach on the court-- the multi-faceted & omnipotent supervising R.A. & energetic support structure glue *** 'Dre Iguodala ***

& these Bull-headed cocky ass CLOWNS proved to the WORLD that they have ZERO true chemistry and  ZERO mettle in the face of real true adversity----

They folded faster than a cheap Rusty Lawn Chair...  Choked, Deteriorated, Crumbled & IMPLODED like a teetering House of Cards ..

Faster than you could BLINK and say ***Front-running Paper Champion ?****

Golden State is nothing but a bunch of FRAUDS!!  They're FINISHED!  They have ZERO chance !! It's Curtains for the DUBS!!

Book it & Mark it Down!!  Cavs over Rockets in SIX!! (maybe 7)

We all know who the reaL TRUE warrior is:

Anyone else notice that once Hooper stopped coming around Liam shows up? Is this some alter ego super hero stuff going on in this thread?

Gonna be tough for Rockets to finish it out without Paul. I suspect he will def miss game six and come back in game 7 at home. Rockets have been one step ahead of the warriors all year long. Diantoni found something that worked in game four and Kurr failed to make a good enough adjustment. Hopefully we see a game seven but I think the Rockets will win this series. Lebron looks toast though, maybe get game six tonight but this Cavs team is nothing special. Winning game seven in Boston seems improbable.

But is Paul really out?   Sounds like it's pretty open ended right now.   Agreed, if he's out and Iggy's back then everything shifts.

This off season is setting up to be a good one, there will be lots of shifting pieces depending on who wins out of this cluster of a finale.

Celts should just play iso against lebron all night.   Let him win the game, be the hero and then collapse in game seven.

Lebron scores 60 and the Cavs go home in the next one. Celts finish it in 6. I tell you a Kyrie Vs. Chris Paul could of been one hell of a match up for the finals. I still say it’s the dubs in the West

Another great game last night, though this GS/Hou series is being played in an uglier fashion that I was expecting. To be honest I hadn't realized how iso heavy the Rockets were this year until the playoff's started and I got to see them play more frequently. They've got the Warriors playing all out of sorts the last few games. Going 7 but it's a toss up as to who takes it.

Reardon got a bit frothy at the keyboard again last night, love it.

nice to see draymond get packed and also blow the game.

cp if done, doesn't bode well.

by the way, ugly basketball by both teams.

everyone chuck 3's!

iso and everyone else stands around.

Love to see a Celts-Dubs final but looks like it's going the other way.

Go Warriors!

Hard to believe the Warriors didn't steal that win last night. At the 3 minute mark strongly thought they would. Houston should have been up by 20 at some points at some point in that first half! Just crazy how many shots that team missed.  I think Houston got lucky to pull that one out but if they were going to beat this team, they were going to need to have some luck.

If Houston's shooters can have one great game in game 7, they could actually do it, but I still think the odds are against them. But if their shooters can all have one game where they are hitting their shots, I don't think missing Paul will matter.

Not having Curry for 5 weeks is a huge blow because when the Warriors have all their players and can play for a month, they seem to find something together, a kind of cohesiveness that takes time to create. This team has usually shown us their best when their backs are against the wall so I look for them to play great in game 6.

I agree that was one hell of an ugly game. If I am lebron  I’m honking if I can somehow jus get to the finals I might be able to steal a championship from a beat up rockets team

Paul out for game 6.    I don't see the rockets winning that one anyway.   This could be a blessing for them.   Paul could get extra rest and be the "most fresh" for game seven at home.

While both these series have gotten ugly and scoring has diminished, it's great to see them go the distance.

The Warriors have played fugly 'non-warrior' basketball off and on all season and I am beginning to think they've reached the tipping point of having too many superstars (and even role players) who've all 'been there done that' so many times (when it comes to winning) that they are no longer coachable, at least by Kerr.

It's too bad, because they are not reaching their potential, but we Warrior's fans can't be too bummed... if you had told us even 5 years ago that the Golden State Warriors were even going to make the Western Conf Finals, we would have been really stoked (but I for one wouldn't have believed it lol).

And obviously anything can happen, and I really hope they turn it around 'cause I hate it when Reardon guesses right!

I didn't see the second half of last nights game but it's clear to me how much they miss Iguodala. He does so much to settle them emotionally when they start to flail and he's so smart & opportunistic on defense and so creative on offense, and his intangibles are not the kind that are easily replaced; I'll be shocked if he doesn't play tomorrow.

As for not being "coachable", that's a complex concept, but I have thought that maybe it wouldn't hurt for Kerr to smash another clipboard. Mainly I just think that Houston is a great team playing damn good and who are specifically, obsessively, maniacally motivated to beat the Warriors.

No one said this would be easy.

So now the Warriors have their backs to the wall, but as Houston got what IMO was a huge break in Iguodala's absence, GS now gets a huge break in Paul's absence. Can they take care of business at home and win a MUST WIN elimination game to take it to a Game 7? If Iguodala plays I think they will. It will be fun to see what happens.

And I say fun to see because somehow I have a ticket to tomorrow's game, so I won't have to watch the damned thing on TV, which drives me nuts.

GW!!!!

boss has warrior season tix.

they are up to over $300/ea for this series.

any of you custies want in?

I may be a custie, but I'm not paying $300 for the ticket.

Lebron is a monster, plain and simple. The guy is in better shape than anyone who's ever played, has the best body of anyone who's ever played (sorry Wilt)...he's just stupid.

But...he's done for this year. No fucking way he takes this team to the finals.  It's been a truly epic one of a kind run. Who knows when this world will see it again.

But it's over.

Reardon has predicted it, and so it will be.

GO WARRIORS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Give me mid 30's hair plug bron over late 20's balding bron anyday. Great showing last night.

Also, I think the Cavs can and will beat the Rockets if that matchup happens.

Lebron was hot last night....BUT, that leg BS was total crap.   Worst acting job ever.....went from I can't walk to let me shimmy and shake my way to the basket in no time.    Oh wait, it wasn't the worst, cause JR smith pulled the same exact move a little bit later.

Refs were letting lebron bully his way down low, I don't see the refs letting that happen in Boston.

Going to be a great game seven.

How's things going Judit?

Hug your way!

Wonder if Iguodala plays tonight @ Oracle ?

At any rate, Kevin Love will NOT be traveling to Beantown. He's entered the Concussion Protocol & has been ruled OUT for game 7.

Won't Matter Though.  Ain't NOTHIN' gonna stop this Train!!!  BRONBRON will BEAST & run the C's RIGHT out of the Finals.

#ClevelandCAVS2018TitleRUN!!!!!!!

Iggy is OUT again tonight.  That Bone Bruise continues to prohibit him from running, so yeah, He's done for a while.

***NO BUENO***

Hi, felina. Things are okay, hope the same or better for you and your family.

A hug for you, too.

IMG_8096_2.jpg

You’re not just making stuff out of fruits and vegetables, you’re making really great stuff! I especially love the car and the train and tracks - so cool.

I’m watching the game. It’s a crazy kind of beginning

That's just UGLY.  Shit just ain't right..

No energy, No urgency, Lax Defense...

No adjustment of attitude.. same old numb entitled dissociated Warriors from this entire season.

blown out by 20 in the 1st quarter of an elimination game @ oracle with NO cp3...

**MELTdown in FULL effect**

Draymond is NOwhere close to the same player he was during the Run of the last few years..

Looks like shit, as does KD pressing, forcing and shrinking...

Steve Kerr should be Relieved of his duties.. TOTALLY out of touch with KD and the whole motley crew.

I knew the Rockets would come out firing 3's and just blow out these apathetic Losers.

still, to watch it unfold just like that...UnreaL!!!

>>>>I knew the Rockets would come out firing 3's and just blow out these apathetic Losers

Nailed it again bro. Vegas must shudder when you show up in town.

>>>You’re not just making stuff out of fruits and vegetables, you’re making really great stuff! I especially love the car and the train and tracks - so cool.

Thanks Judit...Emmy is all about the arts...she craves creativity like flowers crave the sun, it's crazy. She also plays baseball and is the only girl on the team (and is becoming a good little hitter) but that's not her natural thing--the universe of imagination is her natural thing.

She's just the greatest kid.

The warriors put Houston in a position to fail, and that is: up ten at halftime with a chance to go to the NBA finals. Chris Paul or no Chris Paul, this team is born to lose.
