Blind Boys of Alabama- Spirit of the Century

just read Clarence Fountain one of the founding members of the Blind Boys of Alabama passed away at 88.

I've seen them several times over the years.  The most memorable was when they opened for Peter Gabriel on his Growing Up tour in 2002.  We had excellent seats.

RIP Clarence Fountain

forgot to mention the Blind Boys joined Peter on stage for one the encores In Your Eyes.

Expensive Shit! Yes. One of Fela's best. Putting it on now. Thanks.

Chvrches- Love is Dead

ya know what, that  Chvrches album is too whiny and depressing for me right now.

Need to do some house cleaning today, so;

Commander Cody;  Live from deep in the heart of Texas

J. Geils Band;  Live Full House

Marshall Tucker;  Where we all belong

and maybe some Asleep at the Wheel (got to personally serenade Ray Benson once, and no authorities were called!)

This has been an enjoyable discovery from 1992.

Here's a link to one of the tunes:

That CD has some very significant Petty songs on it and may stand the test of time better then any he had compiled since Southern Accents

The Best of Van Morrison (1989)

I was at the dump recycling cardboard boxes and saw this disc on the ground.  A bit dirty and scratched, but I washed it and it seems to be playing well...at least up to track 8 (of 20).

Singapore Sling.jpg

From Allmusic.com:

Reykjavik's Singapore Sling has a lot going for it on its debut full-length, The Curse of the Singapore Sling. Sling chief Henrik Bjornsson's songs are marvelously gritty, often glowering tales that recall the shadowy post-punk of Suicide, while at the same time suggesting latter-day outfits like Brian Jonestown Massacre...It's unclear whether Singapore Sling's elongated time frame is due to the bandmembers' craving for mind-altering substances, or a need to pass the time in a country where sheep outnumber people. Either way, it makes for great late-night road trip listening, as the darkness plays tricks with your sleep-addled eyes.

Also caught Peter's performance this past Saturday at Fur Peace. It was an excellent show

with special guest, Don Rigsby, on mandolin and vocals. He has an amazing voices and his playing was great.

Another random YouTube find. I like Listening.

Saw Buddy Guy Sunday night at the Ilani Casino in WA, as always, a great freaking show!!!  Shredded up the guitar, with all his famous tricks and treats, vocals of a gospel angel, and lots of humor.  I always loved his stories and raps, and again, the way he threw in politics without being political for the Walmart appearing audience was brilliant, and hilarious at times.   Streaming youtube shows today to keep it going!  (my camera failed to produce good vids or pics, but here's a few of the decent ones)

(Buddy turns 82 in a few weeks!)

Really? Cool.

I think I may have just missed a chance to see him last week. I think I missed Robert Cray tonight.

My life is falling apart at the seems

It was Mick Taylor night at the Bluelight tonight

I've seen Robert Cray several times (all eons ago), including warming up for the Dead.  He's a brilliant guitarist, but;
