Magpie Salute 2018

Forums:

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Magpie Salute,

Going see you folks in a couple of weeks at The Space in Westbury.

Thanks for coming back so soon, you all have a strange sense of humor ~

Please play any one or a combination of Faces tunes you guys nail.

My request is some Sutherland Brothers & Quiver.

That shoe should fit well ~

Bluelight ~

"Can't Wait"

Are you streetvan?

No. How would you describe her?

I think there are less jam bands on tour this year then last year. That's about how long I have been going to concerts again.

I only was able to go to one show at the Cap in Port Chester {Joe Russo}& they rolled out the Red carpet.

I won one of the pre-sales for the Bob Weir show at the Cap & the ticket came up as $2300.

I sent an email and they processed that for me at a low price.

Live Nation & the Cap have been very patient with me +

I love Magpie Salute.  The jambands are just different bands than the old jambands.  Aqueous is pretty great.  Spafford is happening. Pigeons Playing Ping Pong gets the kids grooving.

some of my local musican buddies are way down with marc ford...he lives in town and jams locally.

Figures that Magpie will be playing Reno in January right when I'll be back in NY for a visit.

He seems like the nicest guy in the whole-world; would love to meet him. Guy has Halo thing going.

August 13, 2017 Paramount Theater. Ok it has been over a year..

here’s some Pigeons if anyone is interested: go ahead, give it a click: https://youtu.be/WLIU9Q2ks3Y

I saw them a while back and to me they were very similar to the Black Crowes, but I liked them better than the BCs.

But then I never liked the Black Crowes very much.

>>>>I saw them a while back and to me they were very similar to the Black Crowes

pretty keen observation there I bet you weren’t alone though

Saw them in Boulder Thursday evening, had some great moments .... although overall their sound is a bit on the heavy side for my tastes .... at least in terms of a steady diet being a bit too much.   Still had a good time & nice to see a show at the Boulder Theatre that wasn't totally packed to the gills ...

credit has to be given for not typing out two paragraphs to essentially post nothing of substance.

As if your post added anything, Across? Pot meet kettle.

I, for one, appreciate Lance's posts, no matter how long or short. He usually puts some thought into them. But just MNSHO. YMMV.

oh jeez, lighten up Francis.

Rich Robinson is clever. He taught me last year how he conceptualizes his vast love and knowledge of music, and he's now is able to wrap that all up so well with Magpie Salute

Mag Pie is a large balanced band, with awesome background female vocals, a barrage of every guitar tone ever heard (& that's just Rich)  & the extraordinary Marc Ford on lead.

These guys read this thread ~

The Magpie Salute are stripped down this tour ( & new CD - High Water 2) with no razors or background vocalists.

Great great show & I had the time of my life & they know that.

Rich can fly-off-the-handle at any point, but the guy loves me & may whittle some wood with the man in the future ~

Buy in a beer or two on me, please.

The guy is awesome!

can we bill you back? Who should we tell Marc the beers are from? Bluelight from VLZ? What’s Marc’s handle here?

Marc Ford doesn't drink alcohol any longer.

Thanks for the heads up .44

> What’s Marc’s handle here?<

fordula

I kinda like the old Marc better.  Marc Kung Fu Ford

I'm thinking Marc is in a better headspace these days.  Years ago he canceled last minute on a show we were playing with Blue Floyd.  Those guys got Audley Freid to fly out and play the rest of the tour.

>>Marc Ford doesn't drink alcohol any longer.

That's what I thought, Feed him then.

After catching Rich's passes like Mark Bravaro for an hour; it came time for a break, I was in a bit of pain.

I sat & relaxed started to get high, it felt so great. My God it was a fun night.

Hoggs looked over & I gave him a nod that I was happy. He saw me reach in my pocket to toke up & he was like ok, he smokes, cool. That man needs it...lol

The only person to come over to say hello was Dyani, Rich's wife before the show. Seems like an angel.

There were less then 175 folks in the whole place. wtf

Their new album of originals is very good. Several songs obvious launchpads for live jams. TMS > CRB

Check this out then ~

I was almost certain, the audio of both of my sources would be fail safe.

It was not. I had to remaster it all.

But because they were so nice to me and it was my favorite Zep song, I rolled up my sleeves for Post Production work to try & save this audio & created a Mini Movie finale, in which the Video is strong but low grade audio at the end..

I missed the start of What is & should Never Be and then I take it at the 2nd verse, when Robert Plant (Hoggs for us) sang "When you wake up to the sunshine (Pages slide guitar swells..)

I then start it off with Dracula about to bite a cuties neck & we're off ~
