One Night Only: Haynes, Medeski, Porter Jr. & Russo

Forums:

Capital Theater this Friday -10/05  I hate to bitch about ticket prices but here goes.....   GA floor tickets are $100 plus fees.  I'd love to go to this but no way I can justify $100+ for this musical experiment.  Should be priced around $45 at most IMO.  Boo!

Agreed Splintered.  I actually thought the GA's were like $79 and I was going to balk at those prices too. Its a bummer all these shows seem to hit the $100 at minimum.

It's a benefit concert to raise awareness for a rare, painful, genetic disease:

That explain it.  Thanks!

Man, I know you all are flooded with good shows and can afford (pun?) to be picky. For me, however, I would kill to catch that show. 100$ doesn't seem so steep to see 4 massively talented musicians bring down the house for a good cause.

I'm curious about the setlist.

>>>100$ doesn't seem so steep to see 4 massively talented musicians bring down the house for a good cause.

I totally agree (now that I know it's for a good cause).   Just to clarify, it sounded pretty damn steep before I knew it involved a fundraising benefit.

I would certainly attend if I lived nearby.  It's a daunting ride from Jerseyland to Port Chester:  NJ Turnpike,  then the Parkway,  GWB and yucky traffic the whole way.

Plus I'm lazy and broke,  and hate leaving the Dog home alone.

So who's got the Stream ?? :}

Screw the GWB.

The Tappan Zee would be an easier ride to PC.

I think they built a "New Tapanzee"  next to the old one and are demolishing the former Tapanzee bridge.  There was a story in the paper a few weeks back where they shut down the Hudson for a while.  I think they were concerned about boat people getting squished by Tapanzee debris.

>>>I'm curious about the setlist<<<

You'd hate it Knot.

Haynes loves his teases.

I know there will be teases but whose songs get played and whose get teased?

This band played a couple years ago at the vibes w jackie Greene and a few others. It was a tribute to jerry...I want to say the last vibes actually but I could b wrong...gonna be another killer night at the Capitol..

When you say this band do you mean all 4 dudes plus JG and others?

Looking forward to this show. No doubt it's pricey.  Go to the tix sites on Wednesday night for a bargain.

Hot oil pie at the Colony Grill... MMMmmmmm

Tappan Zee Debris^^^^

Band name?

Not sure on band name but at the very least there's a song there.

Wow !!  What an AMAZING nite of music !!!!!

Total magic happened tonight...

Very special !!

It was a friggin benefit. You don’t want to pay the price, don’t go. It’s more room for us to dance. Even better, send the charity a small donation. These children are suffering terribly and this particular horrendous skin disease has almost no funding or recognition. Thank G-d every day you do not have to deal with this or any lifetime illness.

Let’s just say that if these guys took that on the road I’d be inspired to travel to see music again.  Do yourself a favor and listen.

Great cause, great night, great taco al pastor next door.  The Cap continues to anchor the revival of Port Chester.

Holy shit was that good... I'd hit the road in a heartbeat for that band....tough mama was top notch...

Soul

3 out of 4 went through the school of Phil Lesh and Goerge Porter has his Billy connection and is insanely good... ...throw in a  horn and it's a modern day reconstruction or legion of Mary.....it's real good..

It's a short set of  covers with soul.

That was excellent, agree with those that would hit the road to see more of this.  Who was the saxophone player?

I believe it was Skerik on sax.

stream was there last night,  maybe nico put it on "showreel" ?

Thought the audio sounded great on the stream,  enjoyed the jams.  Definitely worth a listen.

Really great show.  Warren brought the goods. Funky, rockin’ and all jammed out! So glad I went.   A dream rhythm section for me.

Woofuckinhoo!

Howard , I agree :) What a devastating illness and very brave little girl on stage last nite " Let's have fun !! "  is what she said to us <3 .

Heartstrings were tugged, for sure !  I paid ..sat in the loge AND donated. I will now take the info I was given and help to spread  awareness for these incredible warriors...silently suffering. Most of the folks near me were very cool and def there to hear the music, others got bored when the jamming and crazy twists and turns that were put out into the universe ...were a bit TOO much for them to handle ;(.

It makes me sad that folks just don't get the magic of what happened last nite, as with so much other music that we here have come to follow.

Was a quick in and out and finally home after a long and tedious drive back to South Jersey, wouldn't have missed it for the world ((( glowing ))).

I like pictures! That's an especially nice close up, Howard.

Great pics <3.

Mine didn't come out so good, here are a few tho.

First one of my fav moments of the show, love when he does this...
