My 14yo daughter and her friends said it was boring and awful. 2 of the 4 of them fell asleep...I will skip the theater and wait to watch it at home...
Spoiler alert - the most amazing thing about the movie is how they brought a walking, talking Peter Cushing back from the grave. This is way better than the Tupac's ghost trick and opens a new door on the use of dead celebrities.
And I had a suspicion that they would finally show Darth Vader on the battlefield. No wonder all those rebel troopers in the opening scene of Episode IV looked like they were shitting their pants waiting for the door to open.
I loved it as well. So much in fact that we are going for the second time tonight.
My boys (7+9) were less thrilled. The older one complained that everyone died and that it didn't stick with some of the original formatting but he's coming around. Of course he's not hesitating going tonight so it must've not been too bad for him.
I agree.. Way better than force awakens. This one didnt feel a forced as some of the movies in the past. When the rebel fleet entered orbit near the end, I got the chills..
I warned them before the movie it may be a bit Darker than other star wars movies and the six year old answered "well, the good guys are all going to have to die in this one because they aren't in 4 5 or 6. "
my 8 year old pointed out that red 5 died, which I missed and didn't see as significant, but he also pointed out that was Lukes call sign in 4, so that spot needed to be vacated.
I caught some of that stuff, probably only the most obvious ones though. I'm a simple man.
Saw it for a second time yesterday. It was better than the first time.
Spoiler alert - my only gripe is that Jyn's dad was able to send out a holographic image/message on disc drive in a defector emperial pilot's boot with talk about how he rigged the Death Star with a defect, but didn't include any details about it other than the plans were stored in a heavily guarded emperial fortress on another planet. In Episode IV, it didn't take too much explaining during the pre Death Star attack briefing to explain how to hit the small thermal exaust port (right next to the main port) with a photon torpedo (because it is ray shielded). Don't know why the dude just didn't explain that in the original message.
Still digesting the second round. found a few things that weren't exactly perfect but that's really nit picking. My friend who was seeing it for the first time was literally beaming after the movie.
the one nitpicky thing that bothered me was the x wing taking out the at-at walker with one shot to the side, completely negating the Hoth scene in Empire where Luke discovers they needed to trip it up with the harpoon because the cannons werent effective.
I totally loved it. Took my 9 year old and my 5 year old. The little one got a little bit bored, it was a bit over her head, but she still enjoyed herself. My son and I totally loved it.
This movie takes place after Star Wars Rebels and there's actually several Rebels easter eggs, including shots of the ship 'Ghost' in several scenes. :)

I do have to say that those Stormtrooper suits are the worst protective suits ever made. One got taken out by a stick to the stomach.
Still, great movie.
