RIP Richard Adams

Forums:

Author of "Watership Down". Died at 96, a better run than many lost this year.

Still sorry to see any of them go.

I was just reading that to the kids. Wow.

Rest in peace, Richard Adams.

Thank you for such a cool book.

 In one section, a rabbit named Strawberry offers a rebuke to human ways in an

explanation of how animals are different from men: "If they have to fight, they fight;

and if they have to kill, they kill. But they don't sit down and set their wits to work to devise

ways of spoiling other creatures' lives and hurting them. They have dignity and animality."

Great Book, will have to get it off the shelf and give it another read.

nice quote gpm!

yes gpm.

...

Mt dad read "Watership Down" aloud to my little brother and me and my mom back when it came out.

Later I read "Shardik" which evokes an interesting fantasy world in solid prose.

I have not read any of Adams' later work, but they would probably be worth a look. Those first two books are definitely due a re-read 40+ years later.
